Location was excellent Amenities were fine Beds and linens comfortable and plentiful Staff helpful and accommodating to early arrival/later departure of USA travelers
Found washer/drier really hard to figure out! All in Icelandic?! Unfortunate that not considered a drop off location for the flybus. But they dropped us off anyway at the apartment. We did have to sort out how to get to pick up location though
Very good communication from apartment owner - included helpful local information and clear directions about how to get there and gain entry. Lovely 1-bedroom apartment and the sofa bed worked well for our two adult daughters who accompanied my husband and me. Centrally located - view of the Hallgrimskirkja spire from the living area and walking distance for exploring Reykjavik's main sights and museums downtown. Easy access to Bonus grocery store, tourist information office, and lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops. Convenient for tour operators and Flybus (airport transportation) - they picked us up either from the front of the apartment or from the next street (Grettisgata 53b). Highly recommend this apartment!
Location is central to main shopping street and restaurants. Hugi and Inga were great hosts, quick to remedy any small problems. Apartment had everything we needed to be comfortable.
Two single duvets on double mattress bed....it may be the european way but we prefer a double duvet. Exterior lights (2) could be seen through the bedroom blinds and they couldn't be turned off, so this disturbed our sleep most nights.
Apartment was nicely furnished with a fully stocked kitchen and full sized refrigerator. Clean on arrival, stocked with enough towels and blankets. Best feature was the in apartment laundry room with washer and dryer. The heating worked very well, sofa was comfortable enough for the children. Guest twin beds in the room facing the street were comfortable. Bedding was very soft and the perfect weight. You do not need a lot of covers, as there are 6 large radiators in the apartment, the apartment was nice and warm. Parking was street parking but not very expensive since you do not have to pay during the weekends, the farthest away we had to park was two small blocks and that was only on Saturday night.
Double bed was not very comfortable, mattress is saggy. Make sure you clarify when you can get into the apartment. The owner informed me in email I could get in around 11 am, and offered another apartment to store our bags before that. We had thought that meant we could get in by 11 or 12. Apartment wasn't ready until 1:30. This is a problem, they only land very early in the morning, if you're coming from the east coast it's the middle of the night your time and you cannot get into the room for many hours. If you think this might be a problem, I suggest booking for the night before. It's mostly a waste of money but assures you can go to sleep when you arrive.
Excellent location, near to the main street where you can find supermarket, tourist information centre, many shops and restaurant. The apartment is spacious and clean, the kitchen is well equipped. It is recommended to try the thermal swimming pool nearby.
I received a confirmation email 2 days before our arrival. It said that my apartment was located two floors up stairs or by the lift. However, when I arrived, the lift was locked. I called the hostress and she said that I could not use the lift. It was so annoying for 2 ladies to take two large luggages (each weighted 23 kg) upstairs and also downstairs on the day of departure. The point was that they confirmed by email we could use the lift, but it was not the case and no reason was given.
It was in an ideal location with all the facilities you could require.
If you're coming from the airport through Flybus, just grab a cab outside the bus station. It's about $12 for a taxi to this unit (or a 15 minute walk if you have light luggage). This place is an excellent alternative to a regular hotel. Don't expect to have a front counter call you a taxi and accommodate you but if you can manage on your own I highly recommend renting an apartment. This unit was spacious 1 bedroom and was straight out of an IKEA magazine. The bed was comfortable, the couch was great too and the fact that Netflix was included is highly appreciated! It was a really great option to end the day with. The kitchen was well-supplied with a fridge, oven, microwave, water boiler, strainer, pots and pans and a ton of dishes. With Bonus store right down the street I saved a bit of money dining in. The location is excellent! There are shops and places to eat a mere two blocks away. The living room had a great view of the church nearby which is definitely worth visiting. A bit off topic, I didn't exactly plan this trip very well and landed around 7 AM with an 8 hour time difference from home, check-in wasn't until 2 but I was extremely exhausted and was allowed a very early check-in. I can not thank you enough for allowing this, I didn't really want to spend my first few hours in Iceland sleeping in the bus station or fighting to stay awake for that long. Would I come back to this place again? Yes I absolutely would.
The most difficult task during my stay in Iceland was having to google translate every bit of the washer and dryer from Icelandic. Please provide a cheat sheet! On the weekends the noise was terrible at all hours of the night. The bedroom shares a wall with the stairs outside and people just stomp around and shout. I was fortunate to have brought a tiny fan to make some white noise, but I'd recommend having a fan placed in the unit. My only other comment is that the bathtub/shower is a bit dangerous. It's higher off the ground than a normal tub, has no handles and no anti-slip mat. If you were to fall there would be very little to hold on to.
Central location walking distance to any part of town, convenient for shops restaurants and tour pick ups Open clean apartment with all facilities Great
Fabulous apartment with fully stocked kitchen, great location - just 2 blocks off the main shopping street, less than a 5 minute walk to the grocery and 10-15 minute walk to the city center; close enough to the action but still quiet and peaceful for an evening in. Hugi was wonderful, answered all our questions, allowed a very early check-in (our flight arrived around 6am) and a late check-out to accommodate our evening return flight. The Apple TV was a nice bonus as we could watch movies from my iPad on the television. The washer/dryer was nice to have as well and I was able to figure out the operation with a little assistance from an online translation tool (the free Wi-Fi, also a great feature).
Not really a con, but something good to know in advance - the Flybus and other tour transport do not pick up at the apartment, but this isn't a big deal - just use Alda Hotel on the main shopping street (Laugavergur); the apartment is very close, just one street over and 2 streets up, less than a 5 minute walk. The only other thing I would say for improvement would be extra towels and new pillows...Only 2 towels are provided (not a big deal since we did laundry halfway through, and these may very well be available upon request, we didn't ask because we were doing laundry anyway) and the pillows could use an upgrade - they're just a bit lumpy, presumably from a lot of use, so they weren't super comfortable, but again, these are very minor issues and shouldn't in anyway deter you from staying in this fabulous apartment.
Excellent for our needs. Great location within walking distance to everything. Nice and tidy apartment. Would go again if ever visiting Reykjavik again.
well situated, modern apartment, great value for money
It was an easy walk to all the Reykjavik locations we wanted to see Apartment was spacious and clean. The area was quiet
Wished there were English instructions for the washer and dryer.
Excellent location and lovely, friendly correspondence with the host. Walking distance to everything downtown and a very comfortable apartment.
There is a lot of light pollution in the apartment at night from the streetlight outside and the light in the outdoor hall entrance. Closing the blinds helps but if you like total darkness to sleep, you won't achieve that. If that doesn't bother you, it's a great spot! Water has a light sulphur smell but that's normal there!
I did like the clean spaceous room. The location was great. I did like Netflix a lot, too.
there was nothing that I did not like.
Fantastic, very clean and tidy, big tv, comfortable bed... Very much enjoyed our stay!!!
Excellent location being 3 minutes walk to main street and supermarket. Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer were handy. There was salt, sugar, cooking oil, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablet etc. - essentials available including kitchen towels and kitchen roll which was thoughtful. Plenty of face towels and bath towels. Was nice to see the mountains and the sea everyday when we opened our front door. The apartment itself was very spacious and loved the wood flooring.
No black out curtains which meant being woken by the light at 5am, especially when sleeping on sofa bed in living room. One side of the sofa bed was wonky and uncomfortable so I left husband to sleep on the good side and I squeezed into my 2 young childrens' beds in main bedroom. Also it would have been useful to have a few cereal bowls in the apartment. Only half a roll of toilet tissue was provided but luckily we brought a roll of our own. TV channels limited. The light in the bathroom was a bit dim so a brighter light would help.
Attractive apartment. Very quiet. Parked for free on an intersecting street around the corner. Washer/dryer in unit. Nice and helpful staff.
Could have used a microwave.
Kitchen staples supplied Clean apartment Towels provided Safe area and close to town Apple TV was great, when it worked Airport bus drop off point a block away Pool a block away Supermarket a block away Great facilities for a child, thoughtful little extras were appreciated!
We weren't able to watch Apple TV all the time as the TV said there were too many viewers using the account at once, we think the owner or too many people in the apartments were using it. It would have been better to have all day access considering we had a small child in the group.
The location was quite good within walking distance to almost every place. The apartment was spacious and had everything one needs. Wifi worked very well.
It was rather impersonal, because there was nobody, good if you want privacy. Bathroom was a bit old and bathtub didn't work well. Also there were only trash tv chains, not even news channel.
All very clean and spacious with lots of facilities in appartment. We liked, that there was coffee and oil etc. at our disposal. WiFi and Apple TV worked brillant. Great view to Hallgrimskirkja in 307 and to the sea, when you come out the door.
Excellent appartment, well equipped and modern. highly recommend
The blinds in the bedroom let in light. Hard to sleep if you are sensitive
Location, space, service
Runners / noice on corridor during the weekend
The apartment is right in centre of R. Very clean, nothing is missing (washing machine, dryer, oven, toaster, senseo machine including pads, dish washer + tabs) Iceland is great, Reykjavik is very beautiful and staying in this apartment makes you feel like living in paradise.
There was nothing we didn't like.
Good location closed to the church and the shopping/restaurant area. Very clean and quiet apartment with washing and drying machines which are so helping.
