Location and facilities and atmosphere and culture
Busy and hipsters everywherw
nice staff, good breakfast, good beds
a little bit too noisy (you can hear all the other travellers coming in their rooms)
The Bar and the free welcome-drink
Very cosy cafe attached to the hostel.
The location was excellent, in the central street of the town. Nice and clean rooms and bathrooms.
A bit expensive for a hostel. There was quite some noise from outside (busy street and nightlife).
I liked the location and the room (which was quite big and bright). The amount of the showers was good, so there were no queues in the morning or afternoon. The hotel has also a laundry machine (quite expensive, though). I did not use the kitchen, but it was big. Staff nice.
It was very noisy, first because of the club located in vicinity (and a party, which was during weekend, so it is still ok). But the hotel has very thin walls and you can hear everything happening in other rooms and the corridor. Also steps of other people, since the floor creaks quite a lot.
Room, staff, free sauna, showers away from rooms= no disturbance
Kitchen is quite small there is a background noise of a air conditioner in the room.
Our room was at 4th floor. no elevetor. The shower and the kitchen are at -1 floor. A lot of steps to make shower.
The location in downtown Akureyri was great. The facilities were clean and organized as well as the rooms.
On the weekends the town is out until 330 in the morning, which is a very noisy affair. Request a quiet room on the weekends or bring earplugs!
Only one shower for all guests
The location is excellent which is located on the main tourist street. There is a free packing place just behind the hostel. However, there is a charged period during the day if it's weekday. We were lucky as we arrived on Saturday and left on Sunday so that there was no problem at all parking the car there the whole time. The kitchen is a bit small in view of the size of the hostel but most travelers eat outside anyway. The hostel will give you a free beer/coffee coupon for your stay.
Perfect location in the center excellent value for money
Relatively cheap to other nearby place. Great localisation. Nice place to meet new people from around the world.
Lack of lift and no information about that before arrive. Staff made some mistakes which was costly for us for instance they did not inform us that they will have to return deposit for key to my credit card, which cost us quadrupled recalculation of currency.
I was traveling with my matured son, so that is not an option to chose from..
Very friendly stuff. nice room. Outside bathroom (on groudfloor) but in a very good condition. Downstairs bar with nice snacks, burgers & beer. Worth to stay!
cheap and central
Not a lot of room in the crowded kitchen. Difficult to find somewhere to sit down and eat things, especially at breakfast time.
This was right in the middle of the downtown. Close to bars and restaurants. Even has a bar and restaurant in house. Washrooms on every floor. Very modern inside. Free beer upon arrival.
Showers are located in the basement. Check out time is 10 am.
Nothing. Its a hostel, so people expecting something else, should go somewhere else.
Friendly stuff, cool atmosphere, great facilities, excellent location, welcome drink.
WiFi could be a bit spotty upstairs, and the kitchen is a bit small, but neither of these is a big deal for me. Just know that if you cook all your meals, you may need to be quite patient.
clean rooms and bathrooms. Cheap beer, friendly, laid back atmosphere.
Bit noisy Friday nights. But hey, that's Akureyri for you!!
Location, room, nice lively bar and restaurant
Although the place has a busy and fun bar/restaurant there is no lounge area (aside from a basement kitchen) where guests can hang out. While welcome to sit in the bar you cannot bring your own food or drink, you have to purchase it - not budget friendly. Also you have to pay for towels.
Very nice hostel, very clean and with good facilities
Bathroom on the basement, which means you had to cross the hostel's reception to get there. Complex system with keys on every door
Clean room, comfortable bed, central location.
I had to pay a key deposit, but there was no one on check in/out duties in the morning, so I had to forfeit this cost. That seems unfair.
it s right downtown so b ready for a lot of noise on a friday or over the weekend... night concerts e g
