Located down town. It's a Nice place to stay to discover Akureyri. It is a clean hostel and you can eat good food.
I had a room on the top floor and there was a great view and plenty of space. When you arrive you get a voucher for a free drink in the comfortable bar downstairs.
The staff were quite unfriendly. The kitchen could have been cleaner.
The atmosphere in the hostel, especially in the bar. It was very clean and the house and rooms were nice. The hostel is located directly in the town center.
located in city centre, value for money, bathroom, bedroom and kitchen are well equipped
Easy to deal with..friendly staff..accomodating..clean..but as with all hostels..kids loud..bar and food downstairs..excellent..
Showers are in the basement
The staff was friendly and the place was accommodating in general. I wasn't expecting much and they pretty much met those expectations. Not a bad place to stay if you're a weary traveler and need to lay your head down for a night.
Seemed a bit mismanaged. Nothing at all bad happened, just seemed inefficient in the way things were done.
Bar & social: great
Showers: in the basement of a 3 story hostel. Have fun with that! Kitchen: bottom floor, cramped with bad flow capability poses congestion
Nice facilities - bar, showers, bathrooms. well thought out. Linen of good.quality.
Paying for linen.
- close to the city center - parking place - bar/pub
- ear plugs recommended - poor kitchen - distance between rooms and showers
Excellent location right in the center, charming interior, kitchen available but they also sell food.
All showers are in the basement
The kitchen is big and even has a panini press.
The loud music venue next door.
Location is in the centre of town and good guest kitchen for cooking
Perfect location. Great food for low budgets.
Staff was not so helpfull. The room was too hot even with the windows open. Avoid to take a room just next to the toilettes,it really smells!
The best place to stay in Akureyri as its prime location with a great vibe. Nice staff, good bar/food and very clean.
Very clean and good location
Very noisy because of the situation (lot of bars just behind the windows) however it was very clean but probably to expensive for the confort presented. Maybe the only problem was that we was not in a mood for party !!
You can't beat the location, in the middle of the main street in Akureyri - and with the town's most popular café in the reception. Nice folks, sociable atmosphere.
The showers are in the basement. Around 1000 ISK extra for bed sheets if you don't have your own sleeping bag.
Everything. Brillant hostel.
It's a very modern, well run Hostel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Upon arrival we were offered a coupon for a free coffee/tea/beer, so drinking our coffee, we sat at the bar area on the ground floor, where there is a lot of information on the area available, WiFi worked very well (even partially in our room), very nice atmosphere, friendly people there was a lot of interaction between the different travellers (because my mother does not speak much English, we mostly kept to ourselves, though), Shower facilities and kitchen were very well equipped and kept clean by the staff, they even have a sauna that you can use for free after asking at the reception. We stayed there for 3 nights and did not regret our decision.
The bunk beds were sooo noisy. It was not possible to even touch them without causing some squeeking. Sitting down was bad and so was every other movement. considering that it is not uncommen to share a room with someone who has to leave early/arrive late, that makes sleeping a difficult (so bring earplugs!!), the chip to open the doors makes a loud sound, not too good if you are arriving late (or stay downstairs longer to enjoy the party at the bar), You can also hear the sound from the bar downstairs (again - earplugs). Other travellers seem to have problems following the very basic kitchen rules (especially about cleaning the dishes and putting them away), but that is not the Hostel's fault. Facilities in the basement, so having to walk lots of stairs, but there are toilets and sink on every floor. They have no own parking lot available (but there is space nearby where you can park most the time for free)
What I liked most, well next to the nice people working there and the relaxing atmosphere, was meeting great people - both, travellers and locals! Thank you guys for this amazing weekend! :)
It was a little annoying that I had to check out nearly every day because I booked my nights seperately. The beds could also be more robust - every time the one in the bed below me moved during his very fitful sleep, the bed above including me moved too.
Location and facilities and atmosphere and culture
Busy and hipsters everywherw
nice staff, good breakfast, good beds
a little bit too noisy (you can hear all the other travellers coming in their rooms)
Great location in the heart of town. Friendly bar/restaurant which was reasonably priced (for Iceland!) and where it was easy to meet other travellers. Staff very friendly and willing to provide advice/recommendations/information.
Kitchen is a bit small for more than a couple of people to cook at a time (however, lots of space to eat). Showers a bit inconvenient as they are in the basement.
best showers during my Iceland trip great location tourism information inside hostel
