Situated in Reykjavik’s old city centre, this family-run property is across the street from Hallgrim’s Church. It offers a communal kitchen, as well as modern and fresh rooms with wooden furnishings.
Score from 281 reviews Excellent
The man and Hes family that run the guesthouse were very polite and helpful in all aspects. We felt like at home.
Breakfast simple and rich, the owner was attentive and fully available, sparkling clean, in general very welcoming environment
Rooms a little cold,
Wifi was very poor in the room. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast area warm and cosy. The owner was extremely helpful. There was some waiting at the showers but it could just be a coincidence since we just stayed 24 hours.
Alba is beautiful. The couple who own the guesthouse are very helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely. Massive bed and lovely view of the garden. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was amazing. Such good value! Overall a wonderful guesthouse. We will definitely be back! :)
Friendly owners, (good) breakfast included, affordable price, clean rooms and bathrooms
Guesthouse is located not in the city centre but still in a walking distance from it
Clean and friendly
Nothing I didn't like.
We booked the Room 00;00 in the night we arrived half past one the owner wasnt waiting for us , Even like that he opened and he did the set up for the Room etc... I think he wasnt asleep so i feel really gratefull
Friendly service, very good and nicely served breakfast, homely feeling.
very comfy and clean, good breakfast
staffs are polite, nice welcome!
the water is smelly...
Good staff, Nice breakfast, Good location.
Wifi signal is not good but no problem to use it.
Nice breakfast! Good location plus big parking region
I prefer the view from dining room and breakfast
Frendly staff, helping with any trip questions and options avalible in the area. car park on premieces
No possible to make own drink on evening just before night time
the staff is nice. good bathroom. quiet place for good sleep.
just a bit far to the center area. We did not find it on the dropoff list of flybus+, you have to choose another hostel nearby for dropoff.
Owners take really care of their guest and give of their time. It was very clean and not to far from the center of Rykjavik (25 minutes by foot).
Breakfast was maybe a little too cheap
Excellent breakfast/rooms/price All round package was superb.
Felt like a part of their part of the world and part of the family no problems at all.
This small guest house is a little gem for travelers who don't mind walking about a mile to the city center. It is well run (nice staff), very clean with a basic breakfast. For people traveling by bus on the island (e.g. backpackers) this place is very close to the central BSI bus station (where the airport FlyBus and Reykjavik Excursions arrive/depart). The guest house is also walking distance from the shopping mall (Kringlan). The rooms are basic and have a sink. Bathrooms are shared for some rooms, but since the guest house is small the relative wait is not long. Overall a great value in the center of Reyjavik. A
You can only connect to WiFi in the lobby/dining area and the signal does not extend to the rooms upstairs. This could be improved...
The touch of service Internet service (though there were some hiccups on my second day) Serene location
No TV around A bit difficult to locate
Thorsteinn & Harpa were very warm and friendly hosts! Always available for tips and suggestions. I thoroughly enjoyed my quiet, cozy, little room #309 with a window view of the cathedral. Breakfast was basic but tasty and the internet access was fast and flawless! I liked how it was a no-shoes house, therefore I recommend slippers or thick socks and the bathrooms were large and spacious. Plus a big bonus is that the Grey Line Tour Bus company picks-up/drops-off directly at Alba, which makes things perfect for travellers, without a car, like myself. Max. 15 minute walk to the main cathedral and centre of town! Would gladly book again!
The bathroom floors where not often the cleanest, but for that the showers worked well! If you cannot walk long distances, I would perhaps recommend a different guest house, since it does take about 15 minutes to walk into town. (However, It is easy walking, paths etc.) Other than that I have really no complaints!
The friendliest staff, warm welcome, great breakfast and very comfy beds
very nice breakfast included
close to a road, like everything in busy reykjavik...
We loved our stay here and wished we would have booked more than one night. Breakfast was wonderful and included in the room rate. For being so close to the city, this was a VERY affordable option. The owner was very welcoming and helpful. The wifi worked great and the room was even better than we expected! When we go back to Iceland, we will most definitely stay here again.
It would have been nice to have access to a kitchen, but everything else was incredible!
