I was originally booked into room 313 which was not as advertised and when I spoke to the management they quickly and without any problem switched me to a much better room. The staff were extremely efficient, knowledeable and friendly. A special thank you to Erna for leading the Friday April 13th Ghostwalk and narrating so many fascinating Icelandic tales! Great location within walking distance of many grteat sites, shops, cafes and restaurants. While the free internet in the lobby was appreciated, I would have preferred free 'in-room' internet service vs having to pay a fee.

The hotel is very conveniently placed for the city centre, close enough to be within walking distance but positioned so there was no disturbance from late night revellers. The staff were all very helpfull and all those we dealt with spoke good English. Our room, though basic, was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a particular feature. There being a wide selection of choices available daily. For an extended stay the amount of storage space in the room was limited.

Location. It is 2 blocks away from the main shopping street. We had a quiet room with a partial view over the sea. We arrived at reception to be told that check-in is at 16h00. The rudest lady at reception barked at us to leave our bags upstairs. We did not understand what she said and she barked it again while walking away. With our bags we had to try to figure out what she meant. She redeemed herself by letting us check in early, but only after watching us struggle for an hour with the internet. The shower floods the floor as there is no step to contain the water, and the floor slants the wrong way. This left us with soaked floor towels and slippers. They give you a mop to clean up the mess - not my idea of comfort. The beds were comfortable. We chose this hotel as most others were full.

We had really big problems to use our credit cards to pay the room, because their technology was actually ancient, and the personal was very unkind snd unproffesional. In adition they forced us to pey at chek in, what is very unusual even at iceland, threating us to keep our passports. The hotel is old, and the bathrooms were not in minimun acceptable conditions. Even you have to pay for internet, when in iceland even the smallest guesthouses offer that service for free. A very disappointing experience

The staff are the best in this hotel. The team is very familiar and help you in all things that you can need. The localitation is well, that they are near the famous shop street. They have a 101 supermarket back the hotel and you can buy 24 hours. The historical room is a very small room. Is located in a incline room. Was a lot noise all night. We can't sleep because all time you hear noise machine. Is a clasrofóbica room. You don't see the light because it has 2 windows of 50 cm x 30 cm each. Had broken 2 swiths that were on the bedside tables. The shower door was broken and you had to be careful not to touch. The hair dryer was more than 15 years and don't dried well. The gabage room has a broken shelves. Pay 130 euros for this room is theft and waste of money. There are much better hotels for this price in Rekiavik.

The room was comfortable and spacious with a lovely view of the bay. The large bathroom was especially nice after a couple of stays in hotels with showers that seemed to be the size of phone booths. The hotel was also within easy walking distance of the main shopping and entertainment district. The staff were very helpful in suggesting and booking tours. The breakfast buffet, while full of good choices, was chaotic. It was set up in a space that was too small, so that it was never clear where one should line up for what. The entire side room should have been given over to laying out the buffet instead of using part of it for seating. And yet, there didn't seem to be quite enough seating.

Excellent location. I had a room with ocean view - it's magnificent. I've got it on deal, so I payed around 70EUR/Night for double, which is good. Free parking. Good restaurant just across the road. Clean room, big, with 1 big double bed (not 2 separated). Excellent breakfast. A lot of stuff like maps, guides at the reception. In the shower it is not convenient to have only top shower. Detachable shower or hand shower would be much better.

Nothing. I was disappointed. I have been in many hotels in the world: first time I go to a hotel that I see a big broom in the shower. I thought it was left behind by the staff. After my shower I understood it was to sweep the water into the hole. I had to do it because the toilets were inundated with the shower water and my shoes would get wet when I used the toilets.. I was disgusted after every shower, i could not do anything as i had already paid for the 3 days i booked.

We were upgraded to a larger room which made us more comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Noisy on the weekend even though it was 2 blocks off the main street.

The staff was great. On the day we were leaving (6:30am) the front desk person opened the breakfast buffet early for us (7am is when it started). The breakfast buffet was very great! Enjoyed our stay.

good location, possibility to book excursions, pick-up from this hotel by airport shutle-bus and by excursion's bus, very good breakfast (nice croissants, good bread, delicious fish, fruits, wafles, yougourt etc), nice room with lovely old-fashion white meubles (hair dryer, shower gel, tea/cofee in the room), luggage room after check-out.

We booked the hotel on an 'April Fool' deal so we could afford 1 room each! Never done this before but for 2 folk that are not 'together' a double room is very cosy as there are 2 single beds pushed together. Great location for centre and goods views from most rooms over the water. Not sumptuous but clean and functional. The receptionist took the booking reference and only checked us into 1 room. I had to tell her we had 2 rooms and then she admitted her mistake and gave us the other room 2 floors away! Other than that this hotel is excellent value for money.
