Hotel Blafell

We did not actually stay at the Blafell the manager emailed us the day before we where due to arrive to say that we had been moved to a sister hotel next door, it was more a block of rooms that were managed by the local cafe. The Blafell it seems had closed for the winter. To be fair there was absolutely nothing wrong with the alternative arrangements the rooms had been recently renovated and done to a high standard, spacious, big bathroom, a shared kitchen area with coffee, chocolate and hot water on tap. We had communicated by email and the manager has aranged for us to eat at the cafe Margaret nearby. The local cafe staff organised us some transport to and from the cafe and all in all we had a very comfortable time. Breakfast was delivered to the kitchen in the morning and was placed in the fridge ready for us when we got up. The assistance we got from the locals was fantastic. The Blafell looked good from the outside so it would have been good to try it perhaps next time we are in Iceland, wishful thinking!

The hotel has beautiful modern but rustic rooms, very romantic ambiance for our honeymoon and the service is excellent.

The staff absentee. Restaurant and sauna are closed after 21:30 and there is no other place to eat. Wooden hotel is not such good idea because the walls are thin and you can hear the alarm clock three rooms further.

We enjoyed Hotel Blafell very much. We had two rooms for 5 adults and were very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the common area where we could all sit together and talk, read, play chess. Dinner was buffet style and gave us an opportunity to try several different things. Smoked salmon was especially good. Would stay there again.

Very nice, comfortable and clean hotel, with very helpful staff.

Every single member of the staff was just perfectly friendly and helpful. By far the best we met in Iceland during our two week roundtrip. We felt very welcome immediately. Dinner and breakfast were exceptionally good as well. Everything is clean and the wooden house has a really cozy atmosphere and a nice scent. Pictures of the unbelievably beatiful and luxurious lounge are however obsolete. It now provides a 42" Panasonic Plasma TV! This room would improve even the most expensive hotels in Reykjavík and is a big surprise in a small village so remote.

The walls of the rooms are a bit thin. You can clearly hear your neighbours coughing and walking around on the wooden floor. Water is heated with electricity and therefore not immediately and unlimited available as you might have gotten used to when having visited geothermally active areas before your arrival at Breiðdalsvík. Not a real problem though!

Everything - the service and facilities were excellent, with a very good restaurant. We particularly liked the 'timber' rooms. Would definitely stay again.

I wrote a review on this Hotel having mistaken it for the one we stayed a day later. It is a nice and comfortable hotel well located and supplies a good service and good value for money. Could you please remove my previous comments as they were written by mistake.

Nice location

Waiting for breakfast as the room is very small. nothing special about this place except the location.

Good hotel above expectations in the small village of Breiddalsvik "in the middle of nowhere". Buffet was excellent.

Good Buffet. Very friendly helpful staff.

The walls were paper thin and we could hear everything from the room next door.

It was a nice place to stay during our trip around the ring road. The room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

Cosy and comfortable place, good price and friendly staff. There is not a lot to do in town, as often is the case in small towns in Iceland but I can recommend this place as a stop-over during your Iceland trip, good value for money.

The interior was as in a block house. Very clean and nice room. We did not order anything at the restaurant, so we cannot rate that. The breakfast was good. The village is quite small, but they even had a map for that :)

Friendly, accommodating staff. We liked that there was a nice lounge with wi fi. We also liked that there was a hair dryer in the room. Pretty location as well.

Hotel was still at low season operation, but hotel staff was very friendly, and made the stay very kozy. Offered a 20 euro discount due to that a few services were not operating as usual.

excellent établissement, décor très chaleureux, chambre agréable, sanitaires parfaits, salons communs très accueillants, possibilité d'utiliser un ordinateur, sauna, piscine extérieure, que nous n'avons pas testée,restaurant avec buffets abondants, variés et très bonne cuisine (beaucoup de spécialités islandaises) rapport qualité-prix très bon, un des trois meilleurs établissements de notre séjour

Das Zimmer war sauber und es gab ein eigenes Badezimmer mit Dusche. Die Sauna war kostenfrei. Im Aufenthaltsraum gab es einen großes TV, Minibillard und viele Bücher. Das Frühstücksbuffet war vielseitig.

La comodità delle camere, la cena e la colazione.

Prezzi un po' elevati per un hotel nel mezzo del nulla, pur vicinissimo al fiume rinomato per la pesca al salmone.

Hotel muy bueno. Buena atencion.Muy buenas habitaciones, limpias, buen mobiliario, comodo. Buen desayuno. Excelente restaurante para cenar. Es tipo buffet pero muy buena calidad. No es nada barato, pero no hay otra cosa por la cena. Al menos, es caro pero bueno.

Vi følte os velkomne på dette hotel på grund af den rare atmosfære og det venlige personale. At der er anvendt træ som byggemateriale er med til at skabe ekstra hygge indendøre. Buffet'en var glimrende og efter en dag med tåge og regn var det befriende at kunne slutte af med et besøg i sauna'en. Morgenmaden var glimrende. Det er et hotel vi med glæde kommer tilbage til.
