We traveled with our almost-2-year-old son, and our stay was made comfortable by the hotel's wonderful staff. We had so much fun hiking and exploring the area around the hotel. We also had a fabulous dinner at the hotel restaurant and breathtaking views from our room. We would live to return.
So far away from normal concerns and so well located in midst of some of the world's most spectacular scenery, this hotel delivers elegance and fine food and service to rival sophisticated big city hotels.
Spectacular setting with a view of the glacier, lava fields and the ocean. Beautiful walks right from the hotel. Excellent restaurant.
Decor could use a little refreshing.
- beautiful hotel, rooms, bar with view to the nature - friendly service for dinner - dinner & breakfast
Spectacular views...very nice public areas...good ventilation in the rooms. Good, but expensive, restaurant,
Pricey even by Iceland standards.
High quality hotel: - good location with fantastic view - nice rooms with very good beds - delicious restaurant - very nice personnel
Everything. The location. The views. The quiet. It's relaxed yet hip at the same time. Chic yet rugged. It's a must. The Snaefellsnes peninsula is often overlooked. You can hike and tour the area, take a day trip by Ferry to Flatey for fish soup. Love.
Restaurant is a bit pricey, but it's to be expected because it's so remote.
Hotel is beautifully decorated and had a great view of the snaesfelljokull, although not every room has a view. The places surrounding the hotel is so beautiful. Great views of the mountains and the sea, and the old historical black timber church adds to the charm. Breakfast is great! Have attached bathroom unlike many other hotels we tried to book
Quite pricey for a small room
The location and the building are nice. There is a good restaurant in the evening. The hotel has a cosy feel.
I thought the hotel and restaurant were a bit expensive. We had a nice dinner in the evening and I was expecting a better breakfast in the morning, it wasn't anything special.
Location was excellent, as was the staff at check in, and the room decor/comfort. Food in restaurant was delicious as well.
Attempts to fit the "luxury hotel" category but the prices don't match what you receive. Shower was the weakest & coolest in all of our 12 days in Iceland. Scarce amenities for the price. Restaurant overpriced. Included breakfast also the skimpiest of all Icelandic accommodations where breakfast was included.
Wonderful location, amazing views, friendly staff very good food
rooms on the last floor are VERY small restaurant is expensive
The location was very nice.
We had our belongings moved out of our room while we were out sight seeing without our knowledge when we were then downgraded to a very small, poorly furnished room. We ate in the restaurant and had to wait for an hour before seeing our meal and when it arrived it was wrong. The staff were not interested in helping us in anyway and continually brushed off our requests and complaints.
Great food, amazing setting in the landscape, very nice staff, very comfortable hotel and rooms.
The food was expensive, but that's Iceland.
Nicely decorated and furnished and nice views
A tad pricey
Very helpful staff. Helped us book our ferry to Flatey. Beautiful view and trails to the ocean.
Gorgeous, tranquil setting. And outstanding staff. We did not meet one person (from restaurant wait staff to front desk personnel to housekeeping) who wasn't utterly charming and delightful. We loved our room and the common areas were equally charming.
Friendly helpfull staff, great atmosphere, superb location with beautiful views. Excellent food both at breakfast and dinner. Total tranquility. Will definitely return on my next trip to iceland!
location, staff, views from room, restaurant, local hiking trails, beach
little bit pricey
Excellent restaurant (food, waiters)
The room we had booked had been given to other guests and we were offered a smaller (cheaper) room. However the personnel gave us some explanations and offered us free drinks as a compensation.
Rooms 23 & 28
Expected a little more welcome for level of hotel. A welcome tea or coffee perhaps?
The common areas were beautifully decorated. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was excellent.
The exterior door opening and closing next to Room 22 tends to be loud which can be disturbing later in the night. You have to travel from room 22 outdoors to reach the common areas (lobby, dining room, etc.) which exposes you to rain.
The location is remote and stunning. You can hike directly from the property along the coast, and the hotel is full service, so you don't have to worry about where to eat or what to do while you're out here. The front desk staff is friendly and very accommodating and the common room decor is warm and inviting. The food in the restaurant is superb.
It's fairly expensive, so I expected better. We got a standard room and were put on the top floor, which is used for storage. To get to our room, we had to go outside across a very windy terrace. It's no small task with this region's weather. The room itself was lovely and had a very nice view. Overall, it just didn't feel very luxe. The service varied. During dinner, our waiter asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu, left, and never returned. After about 20 minutes, we had to ask someone else for coffee and the check.
Everything - gorgeous location, wonderful views from the cosy bar - good food, great staff - Johanna was a standout, very comfy bed! A little gem.
having to leave! restaurant menu a bit pricey
