Everything was so clean, and most staff were so nice to everyone.
then you might not feel burden to walk for a pretty long time to get to the downtown in Reykjavik. Bus hostel is not far from the downtown, but the way to get to it is so limited on foot on account of crossroads near it. As a result, you need to walk pretty long if you don't want to pay any transportation expenses.
The best hostel I have ever stayed in! Very nice staff, friendly, always ready to give information, tips, book tours... Cleanest hostel I've ever seen. The design is also awesome.
Seeing as I was staying in a 16-persons room, I was positively surprised at how quiet it was during the night. Might be the location has something to do with it, as it is some distance to the city centre. My favourite, though, was the wonderfully cozy and chill living-room area, and a very pleasant staff.
The dormitory rooms were apparently for both sexes, which would have been nice to be informed of on the web-page, although it didn't bother me, when first I found out. Also there was no chance of renting a safe-box, and although I had no problems, it would have made me feel safer.
Friendly staff and the room is really clean.
There're no blankets for guests. We need to bring by ourself.
The staff, the ambience, the comfort
cheap, clean and day tours can be easily booked from the reception
it smelt a bit musty in the 16 bed dorm room as some didn't bath before going to bed or their belongings were smelly
Friendly stuff, clean room, fantastic lobby decoration
Just little bit far to city center.
I slept in a 4 bed female dormitory. The beds were very sturdy and comfortable.
The way to the BSì was further then expected...
The crew was amazing. Really clean and spacy place. Car rental located at hostel Bar and great lounge for visitors
Distance from the city center
Clean Good beds Nice atmosphere in the bar downstairs Good value for money
Availability staff (the sign said she was away for a couple of minutes, but those were icelandic 'minutes' I guess...) It's is soooo warm everywhere, please turn down the heaters!
Pretty close to the bus station so a good transit place to stay. Beds were fairly comfy. Pretty good kitchen facilities if you are the self catering type.
Breakfast was only toast with spreads. A fairly decent walk to get into the center.
Reykjavik excursion bus station is very near. It is very strong point.
I had some problem with reservation. I canceled reservation and booked room again to change room downgrade. But staff asked high cost which I already canceled. I said "it is strange price". They answer angrily, "Price is changeable everyday. That is your problem with booking.com." Finally I checked "Reservation Number". Reservation number is very unique number. Then staff found staff was wrong. Staff said, "That is not much money." I am angry with that. That money is not much for staff but for me.
The price is reasonable given the extraordinarily high cost of staying in Reykjavik. The hostel is also clean and quiet.
There were only two women's bathrooms on an entire floor (single room for shower/toilet, with only one person at a time). Thus there was a huge wait during busy times. The breakfast is very minimal and the staff can't even bother to bring down plates and cutlery to the breakfast area. On top of that, I experienced one very rude person at the front desk who wasn't interested in helping me at all (other people there were nice though).
staff common room close to bus station
not organised well kitchen one day there were no toasts in the morning, that was a sad time!
super cute, super helpful, great ambiance
The place, the staff, the other guests, the bar. Easy walking distance to town.
I spent the night in a 4 bed mixed dormitory. The beds were exellent - no squeeking. Free toast butter and bread in the morning. Very clean facilities. Quiet surrounding.
A bit further away from the bus station as I thought but still close (10 minutes walk).
Very friendly staff, clean rooms, bathroom, and kitchen. Excellent flexibility with luggage storage in between hiking trips. Very close to the BSI bus station, which is a major travel hub, and walking distance to the local airport for domestic flights.
Staff could be a bit more knowledgeable about the bus lines to get to the hiking areas of the country, since that is a major draw for many visitors, but they were at least able to point me in the right direction.
My relatively low ranking for "cleanliness" and "facilities" is because I noticed a leak in one of the bathroom sinks that was not fixed in the 1.5 weeks between my two stays there, even though I reported it. Otherwise, the facilities were excellent, and the hostel was clean and well-maintained.
Great availability of big toilets on each floor. Standard rooms, nor beautiful nor terrible. As the name may instead suggest, it is not so immediately close to the BSI. Anyway, it has a good position to visit the city center. The best thing in the hostel is the common living area on the ground floor, nice furnished and with nice music. There you can read, play cards, drink a beer and enjoy time!
Rooms with no shelves and cabinets. The BH lets to have a very late check in, so that in my 4-people rooms some guests arrived around 3 o'clock in the night. So too noisy and bothering.
Cheap, free toast in the morning and really nice staff. Showers and rooms were clean and other guests nice enough.
Usual problems with a hostel - beds not comfy, thin pillow and inconsiderate nature of guests. Family of 6 were allowed in our room at 2am - 12 others all woke up because of this. Maybe put them elsewhere/have check in cut off? Also the hotel is not close to centre at all.
The Bus Hostel was a very clean place with excellent and very helpful English-speaking staff. It had a great lounge where a person could hang out or have a drink. Rooms were spotless.
I was on foot and the Bus Hostel was somewhat remote from the downtown area where tourist activities are located. It was about a 30-minute walk downtown, but the BSI bus terminal was about 15 minutes off. Some tours in Reykjavik offer pick up and the Bus Hostel was good at helping with that.
Very good location - close to BSI and domestic airport Very pleasant ambience in the living room on yhe ground floor
Impossible to get to any of Girls' showers in the evening, occupied non stop for a very long time
The staff is available 24/7. They are very confident in the overall safety of their hostel. It's fairly new, so everything is in pretty good condition. I recommend bringing your own sheets, blanket, and pillowcase though so you don't have to rent theirs.
I wasn't sure if my sheet and pil
