Internet was slow. Bed was squeezed between a wall and a window.
The hotel was clean and very well located. The staff was very nice and went the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable.
The gym wasn't very good and the breakfast was expensive for what you got.
Very friendly and helpful staff Great location Comfortable bed
Location was great Rooms were clean and quiet Staff at lobby were great In-house breakfast and evening bar
had single room and was a little tight but was workable - could have had a nicer spaced room for a little more money
THE STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL.
MY ROOM WAS SO SMALL, I COULD BARELY OPEN MY SUITCASE.
Right in the centre of town. Easy walk to all the city attractions. Comfortable, clean and small but adequate room with nice bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed on a Saturday night and it was very noisy because of revellers in the street and in a local hotel who partied until about 5.00am making it very difficult to sleep.
The location of this hotel is handy for just about everything you'd want to do in Reykjavik: everything is within easy walking distance, including restaurants, bars, the harbour, theatre, museums, shopping, the lot. Day trips to the Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon, whale watching etc can be booked from a number of offices, all very close by. The hotel staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Nice bar downstairs (Micro Bar) if you're into real ale, but if you're not, just walk five minutes up the road, there are plenty of other places to choose from. Our favourites were Prikid, Cafe Paris, Hornid, Big Lebowski Bar and Tiu Dropar is a good alternative place to have breakfast.
I had a great week here and to be honest, nothing was a problem for me. However, you need to bear in mind that it's in the centre so it can be a little bit noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. Best thing to do is get out and join in! Also the tap water has an unusual odour but hey, it's a volcanic island, just get over it!
Breakfast Walking distance to downtown rekjavik
Extremely courteous, helpful staff, excellent central city location short waking distance to day tour pick up point, shops, restaurants, harbor, pleasant décor, lovely Icelandic breakfast, comfortable bed, wonderful shower
Happy partying noise, music on street side, through the midnight sunshiny night, occasionally disrupted sleep
Great location in the center of everything. Nice bar downstairs, clean room, good staff.
Noisy but you expect that and bring earplugs!
The way all members of the staff were prepared to help was outstanding. And we got the best possible room with a balcony overlooking the place of action in Reykjavic. Nevertheless a quiet room.
We stayed there for 7 nights and on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays the hotel bar, called "Micro Bar" plays club music until 4am. We slept 3 out of the 7 days we were there due to noise from that club/bar that is located on the ground floor of the hotel. The wooden floors of our 3rd floor room were vibrating because the music was so loud. It's really a shame when we paid for the hotel 8 months in advance through booking.com and were not eligible for a refund after paying and come to find out, the hotel has no regard for the guests it has staying at its hotel by playing loud music during sleeping hours. Iceland was wonderful but this hotel was the worst we've ever stayed in. Never again.
The location is great. The rooms are quite comfortable, clean and well equipped. The breakfast is very good.
Parking was a bit tricky. The partying outside (which is beyond your control, I know) was loud and late, even in rooms on upper floors and in the back of the building.
The rooms were modern, clean and well appointed. Though not large, they had everything one could need. The central location was on a touristy street but it was well located to see the rest of the city. The breakfast buffet was a very good value.
The curtains in the room could have done a little better job at blocking out the light when the sun began to rise at 3 am. Also, I'm not sure how the hotel can manage this issue but the noise from nearby bars on weekends seems to be a persistent issue here. It didn't keep me up all night but it was still discernible from the sixth floor.
LO CATION, WELCOME, VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL RECEPTIONISTS, GOOD VIEW
EVEN THO SUPERIOR ROOM VDTRY LITTLE SPACE ROUND ONE SIDE OF BED
Nice staff & room, good location in the centre of the city. Our room overlooked the park.
The location is excellent for a visit to the city with many bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Close to the harbour, Harpa and shopping streets. Bus stops nearby. Great room with all you need and quiet. Nice bar in the hotel with different local beers but also the "world majors" incl. Belgian Trappists. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Unlike large chain hotels which are on the outskirts of town, City Center Hotel was at the start of the charming old town shopping street, near the fabulous old church and Harpa, the glamorous new symphony hall, and the Viking ship metal sculpture on the harbor. Our room was large, attractive and comfortable, and the bathroom was efficiently designed.
We could hear the beat of rock music coming from a nearby bistro, but it wasn' loud.
The staff was amazing. Informative, friendly, gave 150%.
Would have liked more pillows
Location, location, location! The staff was also very helpful.
Room with twin beds was small but fine.
Good location Clean Good service in reception
Very small rooms No wi-fi in rooms during 3 days stay
Very small room...and quite noisy .
Never been to a so small room. You had to get inn 1 person at the time.
Central location. Reasonably quiet in spite of late night revellers, so enjoyed good night's sleep. All necessary toiletries, hair drier, bath robe etc supplied which was useful for short stay. Helpful reception.
