Great location, helpful staff - booked trips, bus etc, did breakfast early as we had to leave at 5.30am, decent breakfast, clean rooms, nice tap water to drink, rooms much bigger than i expected. Chinese restauarant nearby does reasonable food at decent prices for Reykyavik, and staff are very nice. Also handy little corner shop nearby, where drinks etc are cheaper than the bigger shops in the centre. Small pizza, hotdog, burger place at far end of square near hotel does cheap food and ice cream. Great value for money, no real complaints, just be aware that hot water in iceland is a little eggy!

The hotel is conveniently located on a side street, in the center of town, and is close to shopping streets and the harbor. Our "twin room" was small and crammed with large furniture. No space for two adults with little luggage to move or get comfortable. Bathroom and shower combined in tiny space. No shelf or a hook to hang anything. Hotel bills itself a "three stars" property (sign posted at entrance). One star would be more appropriate.

The convience of being close to the main street without the bustle. The smell of sulfur from the pipes. The room was also not as big as advertised.

The location was excellent and the value for money. The staff had moments of being somewhat unhelpful, especially when not telling us that excursions have been cancelled. Though overall it was a good experience.

It's a sober hotel but rooms were very clean with a good shower. Location is very good, close to everything but not noisy. Breakfast is good compared to other hotels/hostels in this price category. Overall very good value for your money ! We were told that breakfast was until 9.00 am. It would be better to serve breakfast till 10.00-10.30.

It was in a good location with the harbour and the shopping areas very close by. Numerous restaurants and bars were only a few minutes walk away. It was also a very good price for the stay. There also a fairly decent breakfast in the morning. One of the staff members was very unhelpfull; she did not know any basic things about the city such as where the blue lagoon was (one of the main tourist attractions). That can be excused however when booking our transfer to the airport we booked in for 6am but got a call at 5am saying that the 6am bus did not operate on that particular day, so we had about 10mins to get ready which was not ideal, all because that staff member hadn't bothered to check whether that bus operated on that particular day.

The location is amazing if you join the Icelandic (headace) Excursions tours once they pick you up in the hotel but leave you in its office. After a few minutes walking, you reach the hotel. Nice staff. The kitchen access is a plus. The Wi-Fi was very slow (we were few meters from the router, which means that the connection is bad) and the water in the bathroom has a terrible smell and tasty! It wasn´t really a good experience to take bath and brush the teeth there! The breakfast was simple and quite enough, but they don´t replace the food unless you ask.

Clean, very good value, breakfast available very early (05:00), courteous and helpful staff. We asked for a double room and got a twin - admittedly tho' I didn't push the issue.

Good location. Very simpel breakfast, but enough to start the day with. Good price if you want to stay near the center of Reykjavik. They won't change the sheet, unless you tell them to. The shower didn't felt clean.

Location, very close to centre, shops, restaurants etc We were aware it was a small room when booking but small was an understatement. Not the same as room shown on website. Not happy with level of cleanliness. No staff presence. Bed/mattress very old and sunken and springy in the middle - not at all comfortable. Price was good but given the quality available in Reykjavik for a similar price I would not return.

The price is great for that location. All the basics are there. Initially we were placed in a room with a leak in the ceiling and a draft through the window on the fourth floor. After we told about it, we were placed in a better room though on the third floor.

Was at the Metropolitan Hotel for 3 nights. Perfect location, very cheap price. All I needed was to get my head down for 3 nights as I wasn't in the hotel much at all. Perfect location. For anyone doing the whale watching tour and 4x4 golden circle tour staying for a few days this is perfect.

I wasn't spending too much time in the hotel, but it was a great place for sleeping. The breakfast buffet also had a nice selection. Some of the staff were not very helpful but overall a nice experience. Also the wireless internet didn't work in my room, and had to go down to the dining room to access the network

Location was very close to main shopping/tourist area. The room was clean and basic. Breakfast was simple, self service, which did not restrict your portions. The price reflects what you get. Information on site indicated they would arrange a airport transport, but when phoned denied they could help. Staff levels of helpfulness and communication differed greatly and as there was only one person on at a time the experience changed each day.The window in my room kept opening of it own accord as it only had half the fittings to keep it in place, but I managed to secure it, the heating was on all the time perhaps this was to compensate for the cold air coming through the window. Breakfast could have done with some labeling, to differ from the poring yogurt and milk etc

It was cheap and in a good location. It has thin walls. The streets were quiet but not the sounds of the other guests. It was clean but the shower head could not be attached to the fixture.

The staff was friendly and accommodating and the room, while small, was well furnished with everything we needed. The central location was ideal for a quick trip to explore Reykjavik with my family as it was only a short walk from the harbor and town square. And free street parking was available for the weekend. The negative reviews here are excessively harsh. This hotel is a great value.

Good value for money, ok breakfast and friendly staff The staff is friendly but you can't fully rely on them; we booked the flybus shuttle to the airport via the reception and were supposed to be picked up at 4:30am, but the flybus didn't show up. It seems the hotel didn't make the reservation at the travel company so we had to catch a later bus.

Very good, 8.5

“It was clean, comfortable, in a perfect location - and most of all - it was quiet. It had all the necessities a traveller could need + additional space of an apartment compared to a small rooms Reykjavik hotel usually offer. Adjustable radiators are a very very important thing during the winter time as well ! Also, Reykjavik hotels in many cases are situated above or very near to night-clubs or pubs which makes it almost impossible to sleep there during the weekends. I stayed in Welcome Appartments Lindargata 38 apartment, and it has a perfect location - 3 minutes from Harpa conference hall, just around the corner from the main shopping street from one hand and the seashore from the other. Still there are no clubs or pubs next-door. The price was very good as well. I was extremely sattisfied with this choice !!! I will go for their appartments also next time and will not even bother with cheking the hotels !! even the self-chek-in is very convenient !!” Kairi, Tallinn |
