Adjacent to the hotel is a campsite and a modern, outdoor swimming pool with open-air heated jacuzzi.
Laugar means Warm Springs and the name comes from two springs that provide water at a temperature of 60°C. Icelandic sagas mention a bathing pool at Laugar and traces of ancient structures are still visible at one of the springs, which is now largely covered by a landslide. This site is believed to have been the old bathing spring. The other spring is now used to heat local buildings and the swimming pool at Laugar.
The beautiful Icelandic countryside around Laugar is wonderful for excursions, either by car or on foot. An easy walk from Laugar takes you to Tungustapi, a rocky outcrop which, according to folklore, is an elven church.
At Eiríksstaðir in Haukadalur there is a replica of a Viking farmstead built to commemorate Eiríkur (Erik) the Red, settler of Greenland, and his son Leifur Eiríksson (Leif the Lucky), who discovered America around 1000 AD.
Laugar is one of two farms in the Sælingsdalur valley. The other, Sælingsdalstunga, was the home of Guðrún Ósvífursdóttir, one of the protagonists of Laxdæla saga. Traces are still visible of a church built at Sælingsdalstunga by the chieftain Snorri, who lived there before Guðrún.

personal El hotel tiene habitaciones de dos categoirias. las habitaciones de 3 estrellas son correctas, pero no las de 2 estrellas. No ofrecen servicio de cena, y el pueblo mas cercano (Burdardalur) esta a unos 20 kilometros. La cuna para bebes la ofrecen sin sabanas ni colchon |

Viaggiavamo in nove e cone ovvio siamo arrivati alla sera....diciamo alle 18.00. Era troppo tardi per avere una cena normale con scelta da menù ed abbiamo dovuto accontentarci di un pesce bollito al prezzo di una cena "normale", se non volevamo morire di fame... il dintorno è un deserto islandese e gli hotel ne approfittano.Camere piccole piccole piccole... la valigia non si apre |

Sehr freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal. Haus in absolut ruhiger Lage. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad. Dieses war sauber und modern eingerichtet. Das gegen Gebühr zu erhaltende Lunchpaket war wirklich super ! |

Ein Hotel wo sonst keine bzw. sehr wenig Unterkunftsmöglichkeiten gibt muss. Im Edda-Programm gibt es die 5. Nacht gratis und nach der dritten Nacht ein Frühstück gratis. Für Islandreisende eine Möglichkeit die es zu beurteilen gilt. WC und Dusche am Gang - das ist so beschrieben, war sauber, und okay, aber ... halt doch nur eine eingeschränkte Lebensqualität |

Kamen gegen 20.00 Uhr im Hotel an und wollten Abendbrot essen. Wurden abgewiesen, weil der Koch "zu beschäftigt" war. Es waren jedoch noch einige Tische im Restaurant frei. Da das Hotel sehr einsam liegt, waren wir schon sehr erbost, zumal uns dieser Zusatnd auch durch andere Gäste bestätigt wurde. Die Bedienung im Restaurant wollte das Nichtstun des Küchenchefs etwas abmildern und brachten uns Sandwiches.Dafür unser Dank. |

Sehr freundliches Personal, sowohl im Hotel als auch im Restaurant. Ich würde die Übernachtung in einem Edda Plus Room empfehlen (3 Stern Standard), da die Zimmer nagelneu sind und man ein eigenes Bad hat. Das kostet etwas mehr, aber es lohnt sich. |
