The hotel’s restaurant has a capacity of 80 and serves a buffet dinner from 19:00 to 21:00.
One of the most significant attractions in the local area is the beautiful waterfall, Skógafoss. The waterfall is one of the biggest and most spectacular in Iceland, Skógafoss is the last waterfall in the Skógaá River and there are another twenty or so waterfalls upstream. A footpath leads up by the river, providing a good view of the many falls.
Horses are available at Ytri-Skógar and nearby, Holt offer a variety of horseback treks using Fjallhestar.
During summer, snowmobile trips are on offer to cross the nearby Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
5 kilometres east of Skógar is the Sólheimajökull glacier, which can be explored on foot and is only 10 minutes from the road.
Skogar is approximately 5 km from the coast and a track leads across the coastal sands.
Paradisarhellir (Paradise Cave) is on the nearby farm of Fit, outlaws reputedly took refuge in this cave in the 16th century.
5 kilometres west of Skógar is the farm of Seljavellir, which has an open-air swimming pool.

Man at reception was very friendly. Breakfast was okay. Lounge was nice. The rooms are horrible. We slept in 10 hotels, hostels, guesthouses and farmhouses during our stay in iceland at it was the lowest standard. We had hotels which was cheaper than this and much better! The address is misleading, first we searched for the hotel in Hvolsvöllur. In my opinion the word "Hotel" is also misleading. |

Nice hiking trail behind hotel and short walk to Skogafoss, with another trail once you've climbed up by the waterfall. The location is really the main benefit, close to the smaller glaciers as well. We had a shared bathroom, which makes it feel more like a dorm or hostel, but it was all very clean and nice. The food was very good, and there was wireless internet available. I thought the food relatively expensive... and, as rumored, the hot water does smell a little like rotten eggs here. |

El pueblo no merece la pena pasar una noche allí; salvo la catarata que se ve en 20 minutos, no hay nada, ni un bar. es mejor coger hotel en VIK. Estuvimos en habitacion con baño compartido y es terrible: una casa de terror, con camas tipo las supletorias de los hoteles normales, el desayuno va con coste adicional y es carísimo para lo que ofrecen (se aprovechan de que el pueblo no tiene ni un bar para desayunar). es una residencia de estudiantes de tipo cutre en España. Muchos mosquitos y la habitacion estaba bastante sucia. Nada recomendable. |

Hotellet ligger i et smukt område hvor der kunne være mange muligheder men hotellet er for lidt aktivt til at udnytte disse muligheder, vi var henvist til byen Vik. Det vi havde som hotelværelse er totalt uegnet, man kan ikke idag tilbyde et lille værelse uden faceliteter og med fælles bad og toilet på gangen som hotelværelse , så vores forslag er ombygning eller udtage de omtalte lokaler. |
