The new addition is excellent!
The contrast with the old building is by far the strangest thing I've ever seen.
Staff good and friendly Breakfast at next door iceland air hotel good View of basalt towers from window
Desolate off peak season Poor value for money Basic room Dated decor Strange smell in first room we were given
Really nice modern hotel. Staff were very good, even when we showed up late for dinner. Handy location and free wifi
Well appointed with a great dining room
The staff was very pleasant. It's incredibly easy to find, just off the ring road in Vik. Easy walking distance to the sights nearby.
Room was very humid and smelled slightly mildewed. When we awoke the next morning there were puddles on the window sill. Walls were thin and we could hear the next door occupant snoring.
Breakfast is good, we love the salmon, near to the vik wool, you could go shopping by walk, it's opened to 24:00
No wifi, it's the only place that no wifi during our circle trip of Iceland.
Location is great, easy to find.
Price is maybe too high. But facility looks like it can have that price. Even though I took a deal over booking, and didn't have a breakfast, maybe hotel can put breakfast in that price.
Constant dripping water from the gutter outside the window.
We were in cabins, rather small but adequate. Sea birds were nesting in the cliffs immediately behind the cabins which was interesting. Good views of the sea and nearby cliffs, some great short walks along the beach. Little veranda was great for sitting outside and taking in the view.
Internet only in main building, and the free access is very limited. Paid for premium access but it only worked on my mobile phone (says up to 8 devices but this did not work for us).
New building, with new and spacy rooms. Good bath facilities, food quality, lobby
restaurant was very much canteen, but can be devided into sections with curtains. Unfortunately possibility is not used by the staff
We stayed in the brand new side, great location in the town of Vik, right across the street from black beaches, trendy bar, restaurants in walking distance, decent breakfast. One of the nicest hotels we stayed in on the trip.
edda vik and icelandair hotel seem to be the same hotel, so we made reservations for one and stayed at the other. Looked like na upgrade. Delicious breakfast, nice location, spatious beautifully decorated rooms, everything fine
The cottages were clean and comfortable. This was a good stopover location along the Ring Road.
comfortable bed good location
curtains not dark enough
The location was excellent, right in Vik, easy to find. The breakfast (1.750 ISK extra) was very tasty.
The cost was unbelievably high for what we got--a clean room with a tiny, functional bathroom. At maybe 2/3 the cost (even considering this is Iceland) where things are more expensive, it would have seemed like an expensive place, but maybe fine for the price since it is Vik in high season. But what we paid (over 300 ISK/night, not including breakfast), just seemed like a ripoff for what we got. The room was quite small the view was of a trashcan and gravel parking area. At least include breakfast as a gesture at that rate.
New hotel, bar was gorgeous
Breakfast was adequate but very little healthy fresh fruit or nuts. Bedroom furniture was sparse (log bedside tables were tiny). View at back of hotel was a mess of pallets and building materials. Lighting inadequate to read.
Nnb this refers only to the cabins not the hotel rooms...spacious enough room with private shower and toilet. Fabulous views. Patio for sitting outside (a bench/chairs would be nice here)
Not enough hanging area/hooks for clothes. Really need some kind of ridge on floor to stop shower water from going everywhere in shower (ps hotel rooms look more claustrophobic, and street facing ones with fabulous view, lack privacy)
The location just off the main road was quiet and easy to find.
The website pictures are misleading. The Hotel Edda Vik is a small, single story building. The larger, fancier building belongs to the Icelandic Hotel.
Excellent location for travelers visiting south Iceland. Picturesque setting, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast.
Cottages could use some renovation.
Being away from the main wing ensured we were not disturbed by the renovation work. We took 2 rooms . The two rooms separate yet like one unit as they had a common door made it seem very private and we liked that . The breakfast buffet is worth it as it has a huge range . Lovely location .
If you are not in the main wing you will not get wi -fi . Getting heavy luggage up is an issue if you are not in the main wing - a bit of pull and push needed
The birds nesting at the back window our cabin. A restaurant across the street had God's favourite view.
The staff were excellent. The hotel was nice. The breakfast however was satisfactory. I would go back
The breakfast was just ok
Good breakfast, nice location walking-distance to the beach
Incredibly over priced for what was offered. Was housed in the summer cabins – firstly incredibly cold (even though the heat was on full), secondly the bathroom was awful. Had to share the warm water with the neighbouring room, which meant there was hardly any warm water to begin with, and the entire bathroom looked as if there had been a flood after a shower. The cabins were quite noisy and no Wi-Fi was available. We initially booked the hotel due to the positive ratings, but realised that it wasn't the (OLD) Hotel Edda that was being reviewed, but rather the new annex, which is actually an Icelandair Hotel. Needless to say, charging over €150 for a hotel room that was just a step above camping is absolutely ridiculous, even for Iceland standards. We were incredibly disappointed with this hotel.
Halfway between Jokulsarlon and the Blue Lagoon. So ideally located on the way back. The restaurant opposite the street which belong to the same company is actually pretty good and serve very good beer from local breweries.
The hotel is split between a nice Icelandair hotel and a cheap Edda hotel. If you can afford the Icelandair hotel and if it is not fully booked I strongly recommend to stay at the Icelandair! The Edda hotel is a cheap construction with no sound insulation at all and you can clearly listen to the conversation of the people next door... Moreover when you arrive at the reception they clearly look down at you when they realise you booked the cheap version, which I really hate...
We stayed there just before their grand opening of the new wing and were put to the new wing for the same price of the old part. The new wing is a modernly design hotel, which took us by surprise. Our room faces the mountain but I can imagine the sea facing room must be fantastic. Very professional staff. Worth checking if they would rise the price after the grand opening though. For us, it was definitely a good bargain to have stayed there.
