The breakfast was delicious, the staff was wonderful, the room adorable. The bed is very very comfy and soft.
Lovely cosy hotel, staff extremely friendly and nothing too much trouble
We arrived in the off season a day after a major blizzard had hit the town resulting in most of the restaurants being closed. Not to worry, our hotel host set us up with a candle light pizza dinner (the only place open that night) We stayed on the 12th day before christmas and woke up to a present left in a shoe outside our door! The rooms are beautiful, and the hotel is quaint. Breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend!
Lovely comfy hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. Loved our stay.
We loved the intimacy of the small hotel, the extraordinary graciousness of our host Greta and all the excellent staff. The beds are very comfortable, the bathrooms luxurious, the food excellent. Loved reading in the main area downstairs and meeting other guests, this place is about so much more than just a place to sleep. I can't say enough about Hotel Egilsen. We can't wait to return.
Nothing. I loved everything about it!
Delicious home-made breakfast and cute, cosy room with L'occitane bathroom products. Perfect location by the harbour.
It is expensive compared to European standards but good value for money within Iceland.
Wonderfully charming refurbished house; rooms are nicely furnished, with an amazing shower; staff is incredibly friendly, and helpful with local recommendations; the breakfast is well worth the small fee.
Easy to find; clean, staff was helpful if you asked direct questions
If you have to stay in this town, for whatever reason, the choice for hotels is very limited. This causes accomodations to be highly overpriced. On this trip, we stayed in a total of 14 inns, hotels etc. accross Iceland, Scotland and England. Every one of those places included breakfast except Hotel Egilsen. They charge $24 per person, outlandish except for the fact that there were few other places to eat in this town. And contrary to the reviews I have read about the "great"breakfast, it was no better than any breakfast I had on this 19 day trip. My room was "deluxe", and Priced accordingly. It was clean, but very small and located right next to the main road. My pillow was literally 6-7 feet from traffic. My advice to travellers is "Don't get stuck in this town overnight, or you will pay dearly.
Breakfast too pricey for content
Wonderful little boutique hotel in Iceland. Immaculate, great breakfast, helpful staff, couldn't ask for a better place to stay!
Cannot fault this place. We enjoyed every moment of our brief stay (would have liked more time here). It's a great base to explore the peninsula.
The location next to the port was perfect. The room, the bed, the service and the breakfast all were excellent.
Excellent room and modern renovated bathroom. Best location in town overlooking the harbor and lighthouse hill. Breakfast was very good.
Priced just a little too expensive. Room needs better lighting. Hard to read maps by dim light. Limited eating options. Village gives only 1 expensive restaurant for dinner (across the street) plus a pizza place and gas station grill.
Location, service, décor, staff
Everything. A warm welcome a lovely comfortable room. Nice bar area and a great restaurant across the road. Superb breakfast and just a pleasure all round. 30 secs walk from the charming little harbour....
The title says it all, wonderful hotel, and the best breakfast in Iceland. A must stay
- many beautiful details / it is a very beautiful house - very healthy and rich breakfast - l'occitane products in the shower
- very narrow rooms, 2 rooms are situated to the street (however silent during the night)
Lovely decor. Many of the items are made locally in Stykkisholmur. Hands-down nicest bathroom of our whole Iceland trip. Nice location in a quaint town. We had to cut our stay short and the staff was incredibly gracious about it. Tasty, different breakfast.
More expensive than other places we stayed on our trip, when you factor in the breakfast not being included. I did think that this particular place was "worth it" though.
Hotel was difficult to find, no sign on property - we came late a night, had to ask 4 people before getting directions Felt like we were disturbing owner when we came in, know it was late but..
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Egilsen. Rooms were fabulous, staff was wonderful, breakfast fantastic - this was the first night of a great experience visiting iceland
Breakfast, friendly personnel, room
Small but Nice charming Hotel with a love to details and make guest feel home Small Rooms but very cosy and bathrooms equiped to modern standards Not necessarly 'Heavenly Sleeper Beds' but getting close Good breakfast compared to Iceland stds
Don't charge addl for breakfast...your room rates are fair but limit - Include the breakfast in your rates and you will make more friends
Staff were lovely. The bathroom had lovely fixtures. The location was very good. They need a sign on the back side which is what you see when you drive into town. Wifi was very strong. No trouble getting on and making future reservations.
Room was very small, but it had charm. We did not have the breakfast so can't comment on that. I thought to the room was overpriced for the space.
