The location next to the port was perfect. The room, the bed, the service and the breakfast all were excellent.
Location, service, décor, staff
Everything. A warm welcome a lovely comfortable room. Nice bar area and a great restaurant across the road. Superb breakfast and just a pleasure all round. 30 secs walk from the charming little harbour....
- many beautiful details / it is a very beautiful house - very healthy and rich breakfast - l'occitane products in the shower
- very narrow rooms, 2 rooms are situated to the street (however silent during the night)
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Egilsen. Rooms were fabulous, staff was wonderful, breakfast fantastic - this was the first night of a great experience visiting iceland
Breakfast, friendly personnel, room
Small but Nice charming Hotel with a love to details and make guest feel home Small Rooms but very cosy and bathrooms equiped to modern standards Not necessarly 'Heavenly Sleeper Beds' but getting close Good breakfast compared to Iceland stds
Don't charge addl for breakfast...your room rates are fair but limit - Include the breakfast in your rates and you will make more friends
Staff were lovely. The bathroom had lovely fixtures. The location was very good. They need a sign on the back side which is what you see when you drive into town. Wifi was very strong. No trouble getting on and making future reservations.
Room was very small, but it had charm. We did not have the breakfast so can't comment on that. I thought to the room was overpriced for the space.
The small size and interior decoration of the hotel. The friendly staff. "Hyggeligt" is the right danisk word. Breakfast is just right.
The device was fantastic. Great and warm staff!
Hotel Eglisen is perfectly situated and is delightful in every way. The staff is helpful and charming. The breakfast, though not included in the rate, was the best breakfast we had in Iceland, complete with fruit smoothies and smoked salmon.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The shower was the best I've ever seen. The location is within sight of most major sites in town.
Due to the nature of the historic building the room was a bit small. The extra charge for breakfast.
The staff are the best I have ever encountered in hundreds of hotel stays. The details of the little things such as china and linen are very well done. We were given very good suggestions about local activities.
All of the rooms are small, but those on the top floor (four out of ten) are too small for a couple and, arguably too small for a single.
The Egilsen hotel is a gem in Iceland. It's a very charming place, with a lot of character and attention to details. Lovely rooms and delicious breakfast
Nothing…we liked it so much that we got back twice in the same week. Of course is not cheap, but what's cheap in Iceland???
Excellent location, comfortable rooms, great breakast.
Pricy, and breakfast is even not included.
Nicely decorated room, comfortable bed, very nice shower--great water pressure. Wi-Fi worked well and was consistent.
Would have been nice if the front lounge was more inviting. If you're interested in purchasing tea, coffee or wine the place is great. However everywhere else we stayed offered complimentary tea and coffee which was very nice. Fairly pricey for what you get. A nice room/bathroom but not much else.
The authentic Icelandic atmosphere with updated modern facilities. Great staff - accommodating, professional and friendly.
Friendly staff, modern rooms & great bathrooms
Rooms are small
Three good restaurants within a minutes walk from the hotel as well as the Volcanic Museum which is definitely worth seeing. Amongst a lot of interesting displays it also has an hour long film by National Geographic about the biggest volcanic explosion in historical times and the impact it had on the world's climate in 1816. The hotel was very comfortable, with good views of the harbour from some rooms. We were lucky enough to be staying on the evening when a free concert had been organised just for the hotel guests, with an Icelandic folk singer, Lay Low. A very friendly place to stay.
It was at the top end of our budget and doesn't include breakfast within its high cost.
Updated, modern refurbished ancient houseWonderful. Nice and outgoing, helpful, and attentive Staff there all the time. Gracious. Common area to relax in had a very nice library of classics and Icelandic literature , photo books, guides etc. they have a little bar so one can get beer etc with nuts and have a nice talk with other travelers. Shower was forceful and hot as Iceland uses geothermal heat. Beds were very comfiortable. Breakfast was pretty good, homade breads and jams, the coffee was to die for!!! The rooms are small, especially the singles. Would return. Slept great. This is a tiny town with believe it or not good dinner restaurants.
The single room's shower is small.
Decor and attention to detail was fantastic.
We liked everything!
A fantastic conversion of a traditional building.
That it might be booked up for next time we want to go!
Unique small hotel overlooking a beautiful harbour. It was thoughtfully renovated and very comfortable.
We had a charming room overlooking the harbor. Bath looked to be completely new.
