Excellent rooms with great views (when daylight :0) ). Staff excellent in helping us find local restaurant (called to keep it open for us) and served breakfast 30 mins earlier than their normal time so we could get away early.

The rooms were charming- felt like being inside a ski lodge/sauna and they were as warm as that too! Each were individually decorated with comfortable soft furnishings. The hotel is quite far out of any towns, thus there is no light pollution- perfect for Northern Light hunting. We used this hotel as a base to visit the thingviller national park, and also Geysir and Gulfoss. Unfortunately however, the rural location means that there isn't any food to be had (no restaurants nor supermarkets) for miles- and we mean miles! We were staying in December, when the Farmhouse does not serve dinner, and so had planned to go to a restaurant 10km away. Despite looking online in advance to ensure this restaurant would be open, it was closed because they had no bookings. The same was true of all hotels and restaurants within a 30km radius, so we found ourselves hungry and in a bit of a pickle. The lady in the hotel was very accommodating and offered to make us some lasagne- something we were extremely grateful for. Although this is not a service we are suggesting you should depend on, we thought it was important to note the kind service that we received. Had the lady not been so accommodating, we would have been very disappointed with the rural location of this hotel. Take this as a warning to book any restaurants well in advance!!

The recently constructed rooms utilize unique all wood wall material which provided a warm and clean atmosphere. We both thought the room felt inviting and would have stayed longer. The family was very nice and breakfast included hot oatmeal which was nice coming in from the rain. We slept in until about 1:00 PM and they didn't mind since it was a slow time of year. The views over the countryside from the room were excellent. We would definitely stay here again! We arrived at night and one thing to be aware of is instead of having a star filled night sky I was surprised to see the cloud covered sky filled with the rather bright orange glow from the well lit greenhouses located several miles away. It may not be as bright on a clear night. Not a big deal with the curtains closed but probably not the best place for star gazing.

The room was charming, comfortable and spotless. The view out the window was wonderful. The breakfast spread was great and the breakfast room was also very charming. The owners recommended a nearby spa and restaurant, both of which were great choices. As we were there off season in early October, the restaurant was not open for dinner. Although there were restaurants nearby, it would have been nice to know this when we booked.

Fresh local foods were served, in a small comfortable setting. I would have prefered some outdoor areas where travelers could stroll.

Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. The location is beyond description - perched on a small hill, looking out over beautiful Icelandic countryside, with a mountain behind you. The farm hotel itself is warm and inviting, and the owners attitude to their guests is what truly makes this an outstanding place to stay. They did everything they could to make sure everything was perfect - and it was! The breakfast was wonderful - mostly fresh produce from the farm. There's also a naturally heated hot tub just outside the main building, which is available 24/7. As for location - you are just 15 minutes from Geysir and about 30 minutes from Gullfloss - which means that you can beat the crowds if you get there in the morning (before the coaches arrive from Reykjavik). Overall - this place is very highly recommended to any traveller.

Excellent rooms/cabins with lot of well thought of amenities (like heated floors) - And all this in the middle of a rustic farm. The farmhouse is on top of a small hill. We woke up early one day and went for a walk around the farm - amazing views with mountains on one side and the valley on the other. Pictures displayed by the booking and other review sites do not do this place justice. Breakfast was the best we had on our trip. Not a huge spread, but whatever was there - was absolutely fresh and tasty. Supply of warm home made multi grain bread is constantly replenished and it is delish! Yogurt and milk were the farm products. Last but not the least - the people at the farmstay were one of the nicest people I have ever come across. We were one of the unfortunate many who had lost our baggage on the flight (which had all our hiking and camping gear for Landmannalaugar needed the very next day!). And the baggage claim phone number was unreachable. Sergei of Efstidalur on hearing our predicament, made a bunch of phone calls, located our bags and arranged for a pickup. We cannot thank these guys enough!

We stayed there one night only. The staff were really nice. The restaurant has a menu based on fresh ingredients from the farm and that is awesome. Food was amazing. The rooms are cute, clean and everything looks like from the urn of the century. The horses add charm to it and you can ride too. No hot pool, just a jacuzzi and not very warm.

Loved the farm-stay concept and the fresh local food at the restaurant. Would have liked to stay in one of the larger rooms with en suite bath, but they were booked.

The location is very good and perfect to relax after a long day. Breakfast was better than expected and the rooms had everything we needed. The rooms with bathroom are in a seperate building and have a beautyful terrasse which we would choose for future stays since it was very quite as well. The rooms with shared bathroom are in the main building and the noise really depends on the guests behaving like human beings or like monkeys in the hall. However the guests were all there for the same reason, to explore the beauty of the island. We stayed two nights and one of it was ended shortly due to some guests that looked like conservative hiking travellers but behaved like rude neighbors with no understanding for people that may want to sleep until 9 am.

Very friendly and nice people and atmosphere To sit on the veranda in the (very) hot water tub, while all the traveller came by was really an experience. My wife enjoyed very much the horse riding. The lamb file was excellent. One more shower/WC would be nice if you have one of the rooms w/ shared facilities

Very nice family owned hotel. Milk and marmelade in the morning came directly from the farm. They had a hot tub just outside 24 hours open.. We had a shared bathroom, which was always clean. Perfect value for money. I can only recommend this hotel.

The location is ideal as a hub for excursions to surrounding tourist hot spots such as Geysir. There is also a lot to offer in this region for activities such as snowmobiles and caving. The hotel was a very relaxing place to stay and the staff were so nice and helpful. there is a cosy restaurant on the farm which serves lovely food every day, using local ingredients including beef from the farm. There is plenty of parking if you bring a vehicle. The views are amazing as the farm overlooks a vast valley with mountains in the distance. Although there is free wireless internet access it only has a good signal in the restaurant, but not in the accommodation. There are no TV's in the rooms, which isn't a major problem, but it would have been nice to have in the evenings.

Efsti Dalur is a guest house with a heart, the whole family takes care that you'll enjoy your stay: the warm welcome, the fine dinner, the comfortable room. A magical moment was the ballad on horseback, discovering another wild side of this beautiful region. This place is on the top of our list for the next time !

The floors in the room were very warm (from the geothermal heating perhaps?)! The room was lovely, all wood with high ceilings. It was our first stop on our trip around the ring road, and it set the bar very high. There was a large bed with a desk, two chairs, a small table, and a bathroom - very spacious. There was a kettle in the room with tea and sugar. The bathroom also had a hair dryer (bonus!). Breakfast in the morning was perfect - fresh baked bread and buns, still warm from the oven. There was a variety of Icelandic spreads (cream cheeses, of sorts, I think...?), jams, fish, and butter. There was warm porridge and fruit as well as cereal. Coffee, orange juice, and apple juice were provided. All in all, a very wonderful start to our trip!
