Score from 273 reviews Wonderful
Getting up & seeing the Geysir without all the crowd of people, only an hour away from most attractions & easly to get to the Blue Lagoon.
A little too much light pollution for the northern lights but they must have it for the people to get around safely.
Restaurant lovely food and staff. View great. More motel than hotel.
Spa area cold. Room small.
wonderful to be close to the geysers and able to visit them when most people have left delicious food, very good breakfast
the smell and no heating in the bathroom
The location the staff and the food
The lack of wi fi in the rooms
Northern lights view from the bedroom
Walk from one building to another for breakfast at -15c
Great hotel in a prime location right next to all the geothermal activity. Most people do the Golden Circle in a day trip but we decided to take it easy and stay at the half way point. Very glad we did as had to take all the roads very slowly due to the snow. Good geothermal hot tub in separate building (even if changing rooms a bit on the cold side).
Rooms are in chalets not in the main building. Ironically the hot water didn't come through to our room even after leaving it running for 40 minutes.
great breakfast, sauna, pool with
we had to wait approx 1h for hot water to become reasonably hot, i.e. no pipe insulation
The hotel was clean and had a cosy feel. Rooms were a decent size. Restaurant was good
It took 20 mins for the water in the shower to warm up. I could hear my neighbour next door snoring and there are a few big bright street lamps on the road facing North. We saw the Lights that night but you have to move away from the hotel to avoid light pollution.
Everything was great staff excellent cabins comfort was good and views that take your breath away.
The food is expensive in the restaurant and cafe but you dont have a choice as there is nothing locally. If you go in the winter beware of the road there its bad
Situated opposite the Geysirs so able to see them early and and late pm after the main tourist excursion prime times. Not much light pollution as just the hotel cabins, hotel bar restaurant and neighbouring restaurant and gift shop. Good clear panoramic views of mountains and countryside ideal for aurora borealis viewing. Cabins were well equipt, comfortable and warm Lovely bar, restaurant and spa facilities. Liked the fact that it was a cabin with great countryside views. It was a good sized cabin
Some of the accommodation photos were misleading and it is unclear that you are staying in a cabin at the back of the hotel. Room was a bit dated and tired but still good value for money. In snowy conditions roads can be quite bad in the areabut that is typical of the more remote places in Iceland. This is not a critisism or fault of the hotel just that a 4X4 in winter should be a must.
The staff is very helpful The restaurant Sleeping in a cottage during a winter time
No wifi in the cottage but it works fine in the main building
Location, food, cabins & staff
Water in shower had to be run for 5 minutes to get warm (it was a low of minus 11)
Bungalow is nice and clean and near 2 attraction point.
-5°c … NO HOT WATER AT ALL, CAN'T TAKE A SHOWER !!!!
Enjoyed the hot food for breakfast and its good location to view the hot springs. The hotel also had a leisure centre complete with sauna and a small thermal pool.
Our room was in a separate building from where the reception was. It wasn't too much of an issue but we had to walk/drive to the main building to access the restaurant and leisure centre.
Great location, amazing dinner (and waiter) relaxing spa.
The internet didn't work and the manager blamed it on the fact that we had Apple products. The hot water was difficult to operate. (two taps only use the left one though they will not clarify this)
Beautiful view of the Geysers
I stayed late November and not many guests. It's very quiet even though my room was faced to high way. They served a good breakfast at main building. The spa is good too.
Stayed the night of 17th Nov. Relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic location opposite the geysir. Reception Staff extremely polite and helpful when booking in. The waitress was lovely, one of the nicest we have ever come across. Superb overall.
Location Cottages with free view Friendly personel Great breakfast Spacious
Wifi was horrible Room wasn't very clean Expensice to eat there
The room was clean and comfortable. TV and Wifi included. You can see Geysir from the window of some rooms.
The room had a terrible and strong smell to rotten egg in all the room. Apparently because the water, but we need to put some towels in the hole of shower and sink to avoid smell.
Perfect location Great breakfast Clean and comfy room View on the geysirs from window Small kitchen for own use Free use of a spa Helpful staff
The restaurant The pool area (although it was mostly under construction) The rooms were very comfy
Rooms were a bit dark as we had a few bulbs not working The wifi wasn't great and kept dropping out
Great lodges and huts. nice restaurant. Great service, good restaurant.
Wifi was not working in the lodges.
Great location if you want to see the Geysirs at times when the tourist buses have gone. Good breakfast buffet.
Wifi works only in the main Hotel, not in the cabins which are used as guest rooms. So while its a great place to watch the Aurora, any notifying apps become useless without wifi. It's ok that you need to order dinner in the Restaurant by 8pm, but if nobody shows up for dinner, the Restaurant will close early and you can't even go for a drink (there's nothing else in the area). Heating in the cabins is poor, no heating at all in the bathroom and to get hot water in the shower, you need to let the water run for a while.
Nice to wake up and have a wonderful breakfast(Must have been the best pancakes I have had in a long time) and then see they geisers before it got too busy. Also only a 10 minute drive from gulfoss. Oh and the hot tub was very nice as wel.
