Hot tub Amazing buffet breakfast Very comfortable beds Lovely setting Friendly staff
Dinner is expensive so choice could usefully have been wide.
Very nice staff, perfect view, very good breakfast (if you compare to other places in Iceland) perfect localisation.
The smell of the hot water. But in Iceland it is nothig special.
quite expensive for what it provides
Beautiful setting. Food was great. Rooms were nice, with the bed in a loft. We enjoyed our stay here, although it was short! I would definitely stay here again.
very friendly and helpful staff fabulous atmosphere location and views great food northern lights
tea/coffee maker in room
Food - yummy, but pricey. Hot tub, but no where to put drinks, towels and bathrobes when it's raining or snowing! Which is most of the time in Iceland in the winter/spring, so they get just as wet as you.
hotel furnishings are dated - more 80's kirsch/quirky/twee than modern - from the drunken garden gnomes outside, to the individual salt and pepper pots in the shape of dogs, ghosts and other twee 80's stuff. Many of the light fittings weren't working including our main bathroom light. It also has basic bathroom facilities and the rooms in the main part of the hotel are smaller than you think - picture on website makes them look larger.
Breakfast was decent and we did get a wake up call for when the northern lights began.
The room was not comfortable. We stayed in the duplex and there was no space whatsoever to put our bags, overall the room was cramped and when we put the heating on downstairs it became uncomfortable upstairs in the bedroom area. When we got the call for the Northern lights we went outside and all the hotel carpark lights were still brightly shinning from all angles which was off-putting. We stayed all over Iceland during 15 days and this place was far over priced for what we got.
We had a two storey room which was fantastic, really comfortable and clean. Hot tubs were amazing with the most beautiful view. The hotel is in a lovely location and we were lucky enough to see the northern lights too. Dinner in the restaurant was brilliant and worth the expense. Lady on reception was lovely and really helpful.
My only piece of constructive feedback was the restaurant and bar staff could have been a little more attentive. They were friendly and great when they were there but during dinner they had quite often disappeared or were all chatting together and not really aware of the customers waiting. This is a minor point though.
Fantastic views overlooking the fjord, warm welcome, very helpful staff, comfortable and clean room. Easy to reach, isolated in a good way, within convenient day drive for the Snaefells National Park. Lovely hotel and location, would definitely return here.
A small thing, but the sofa in the (small) living room faces the wall (and flat screen TV) rather than the stunning views outside... Another small gripe is that the restaurant is not very well equipped for vegetarian meals, though they did try.
Seeing the northern lights. Great food, amazing breakfast.
Lights in the room not great.
Lack of coffee for coffee-making machine. No tea making facilities in the room. Bathroom lacking in toiletries.
There are fantastic views from the hotel and the communal hot tubs. The staff were friendly and welcoming and offer a service where they wake you up when they spot the Northern Lights which were, of course, extraordinary.
The decor throughout is very rather 90s and not particularly inspiring. There are no cosy areas to sit and you can't see a window from your bed. The r
We upgraded to a villa on arrival from the room allocated. The room allocated was clean and comfortable but at the rear of the hotel so no view of the fjord. The villa was exceptional with its own hot tub and uninterrupted view across the water and mountains. The manager and staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful and the food was excellent and good value.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Glymur. It was perfectly located for us to see the Northern Lights - although we had quite a bit of cloud on our trip. The food was delicious in the restaurant but limited choice, as we were there for 3 nights. The staff are lovely. We would like to mention Richard and a young French student (whose name escapes me). They really looked after us.
We didn't realise that the smell coming from the bathroom was the geothermal water and had to ask the staff if there was a problem, before being told that the smell was this. A big problem was the car park. It was freezing outside and the car park was like an ice rink. It wasn't until several of the guests complained that salt was put down on the car park. It did take 2 days for this to happen though. It was absolutely treacherous. If you are staying for more than 2 nights and eating in the restaurant, then you will find the menu quite limited - although delicious.
A well designed house with a lot of art and a private atmosphere. Excellent cuisine.
Design of room and public spaces is great. Comfortable bed and room. Extremely helpful and pleasant stuff
Location was somewhat hard to find, even with the GPS I got in Iceland. Price is not low, but worth it.
The location was the highlight - next to the sea, with a beautiful drive to get there.
Our room was in the main building, the décor was really sad (both of the room and the hotel), it needs a good refurbishment and re-decoration. It was just outdated and depressing...
We loved the beautiful setting in the fiords. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. There were many cozy areas to lounge and relax. The rotten egg showers make a great story!
The bathrooms were tiny and the floor got soaked with a shower. The rooms themselves were overall very small, just enough space for ourselves with little for luggage. Not many other options for food, and the restaurant, while delicious, was very expensive.
Nice view and great meal
Rather expensive for the rooms. The hot tubs were not super hot, and they were a bit dated...Not much to do in the direct vicinity...the glymur falls trail is poorly marked.
