The view was great. Could see Kirkjufell from the balcony. Property was very clean. Nice to have some kitchen tableware and minimal cooking items. It was just a minute's walk from a grocery store too, so that was nice.

Room was okay, a small common kitchen space which was helpful. Bathroom arrangement wasn’t great as there is only one bathroom/ shower/ sink that you share with the owner’s family and occupants of two other rooms. Surrounding area was great though as this house is on a farm and you can see Kirkjufell mountain from the property.

No complaints at all. We stayed 3 days and had the whole farmhouse to ourselves, including full kitchen and bathroom. The views are unmatched; we were able to see the Northern Lights from the front door. At the end of our stay, Gudrun gave us a full tour of the farm where we got to meet all the cows and sheep! Cannot recommend enough, we'll be back.

Grundarfjordur is a convenient town for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It has a good grocery store and two excellent cafes for coffee & treats. A little food truck is open until the end of August. Definitely not worth the extra drive time, town is not set up for tourists at all, hotel was 350 euros, which was very high compared to all other night on our trip. The town/village itself is really quite sweet.
The town/village itself is really quite sweet. We didn't spend much time there, but we did drive in to use the grocery store and walk around a bit. Kirkjufell Mountain is really quite stunning and one of the most recognizable Icelandic landmarks. You can just sit and look at it all day. For such a small town, Grundarfjordur is packed with loads of hotels, guesthouses, shops and places to eat. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

This small mountain gets a lot of positive press and yes, it's kind of cool but really not all that great. We were trying to find it the last time we were here (three years ago) and drove right past it. There is a parking lot on the left as you are leaving town and you need to park and get out for the mountain to "look" like it looks in the pictures you see everywhere- with the waterfalls, etc. There are numerous sights around Iceland that make this one look like a joke. Still...stopping for 5 minutes to get a picture or two will be worth it but you won't look back on this one and remember how awesome it was.

Friendly, family run place Rooms very large and clean, with carpet free floors. Blackout shades not super effective, so bring eye shades. Cold breakfast buffet very nice, with hard boiled eggs and pancakes to warm in the toaster, as well as standard cold cuts, cheeses and breads. Very reasonably priced and very close to Kirkufell. Great base from which to explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. No elevator.

Also, we love dogs so we fully appreciated the excited welcome from the dogs on the property. We were in Iceland a week and regret not booking more then one day here. This little farmhouse is top of the list when we hopefully return in the future!

The best things we like are (1) cleanliness and completeness of the small room, shower, sink, toilet and nice bed all included, and (2) a spectacular view of Kirkjufell, particularly at sunset. The little town Grundarfjordur is quaint. We had dinner at Cafe 59 two days in a row.
