I can not express how enjoyable my stay at Brekka was. Even though the location is quite out of the way, the staff and the cabin made up for it. My two friends and I arrived quite late one night this past week, and we were expecting to grab some dinner given the menu on the wall in front of the reception door. However, an older man greeted us at the door, and unfortunately, spoke no English at all. It took some time for us to communicate to him that we wanted some food, and knew that we were hungry-- it looked like the regular person to prepare dinner was not there. But the man went out of his way to prepare something quick and simple for us to eat given the time and the location (we didn't want to drive too far out to find food that the late hour). He was very sweet to provide us food, clean up, and give us the keys to our cabin. I really want to thank him for his kindness. The cabin itself is extremely clean, and the beds were clean as well, and very comfy. The bathroom was modern and had excellent facilities. The cabin overall was just lovely and very hospitable for the location. Come the next morning and the breakfast was ready and prepared. A lady came in quite soon after we sat down ,and it looked like she took over the man's shift after she arrived. After breakfast, I had to pay for our entire accommodation, in which the machine to take the credit card was not working. The lady tried to call the owner, but to no avail and I insisted on paying in cash. Unfortunately, I realized I was a little bit short on the total, but the lady said that's OK and is fine enough. I however felt very uncomfortable not paying the entire amount, so we instead decided to meet in Husavik later that day so that I could pay the rest. I cannot thank the lady enough either how sweet she was to trust me. It was just an absolutely memorable stay and I highly recommend this place-- thank you Guesthouse Brekka for making our trip even better!!
few people there in early Oct., great view and accommodations!
The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly. Place was clean and fresh towels provided almost daily.
Was a little hard to find at night but definitely worth the trip and stay.
the room is very tidy, facilities are good, decent breakfast
Excellent guesthouse, new and clean (rooms, kitchen, laundry). Breakfast was fantastic though over-eating is not recommended if you have sea-sickness before a whale watching trip in the South Arctic :)
The location is slightly off Route 85, south of Husavik. There is no big sign, just a road sign saying Brekka but the cottages are on a hill.
Clean new cottage not far from husavik Good breakfast Good price
Wi fi reception was really bad and owner's English wasn't good (though she was very nice)
It was a lovely setup, the food was great, the staff were friendly.
It was a bit off the beaten path -- but so are a lot of worthwhile things in Iceland!
Good food, good staff and owner, close to Mvatn. Nice views.
Difficult to find with little marking as to how to get there.
The House we stayed in was very new and if we would have liked to... We would have been able to prepare a five Star menue in this perfectly equipped kitchen! Everything was very clean!! The Staffel was friendly and the breakfast plenty and Good. We recommend the Place....:-) thanks
It was very bright in the room very early....:-) Good for not in sleepers
It is good for only one night stay.
Nice newly build guesthouse
Restaurant is expensive
Clean, modern, nice surroundings, had laundry in the building I was in
Just not really near anything. Could use more seats and stuff in the common area
Nice small bungalow with individual shower.
A bit difficult to find (GPS coordinates of the location would help to spot it easily)
One bathroom for two rooms which was really nice and clean. We didn't use the kitchen but it was big and there was a big living room as well. Loved the little cottages- certainly great for bigger groups! Wifi in our cottage!
Breakfast was okay, but we've had better ones at other accomodations.
The bungalow was new. With a great kitchen. Breakfast included
Not very sound proof.
Terrific! Everything was wonderful! Ten stars out of ten!
Very cool cottage. A lot of space for rest. Good kitchen and bathroom.
-very nice lady at reception
-rooms have paper thin walls -breakfast was so and so
The food in the restaurant was very good and we liked the surroundings
It was a bit noysy and it was rather warm in the room and the window couldn't open far enough.
clean room with private bathroom; plenty of space; comfortable bed. Semi-blackout curtains but eye shade is necessary. The staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast is included and often has fresh, homemade bread... delicious!
listed as "in" Husavik, but is actually a half hour outside of town and can be difficult to find... we ended up traveling an extra 45 minutes to avoid taking a rocky dirt road
Unfortunately, I just reviewed this under Guesthouse Lyngholt, Porshofn...sorry about that! Brekka was comfortable & run by a very friendly family.
Wifi only in the main lounge & restaurant area.
Friendly host. Good breakfast.
Bit overpriced for what you get. It did not have the cosy farms tay feeling. No communal kitchen. Tea making facilities in the room would be an improvement. Now you had to go to the breakfast building to get some hot water.
