they are advertising a hot tub but when I arrived there they said it's not available in winter time. We choose this guesthouse only for hot tub.
Fully equipped kitchen, very clean rooms, not bad location
comfortable beds clean house reasonable price quiet
a bit far from the docks and also uphill
Fine location, quiet place. Comfortable check-in/check-out. Good kitchen with utensils and kitchenware. Cozy common hall. Parking and access. Food shop near by till 23:00.
Too cramped rooms. Shower and toilet are combined - the only one on the floor. If she went to wash her long beautiful hair - no one will soon be able to get to the toilet, for example. The only one on the floor for a few rooms. Why not make separate toilets, separate showers...
I felt warm and welcome the moment I stepped in. it felt nice to be able to cook and make yourself at home. I like the fact there is a supermarket just opposite the street and the fact there is a hot tub like most other buildings :)
the reception is not always there but then you can easily call
The facility is not very clean.
only one bathroom , apparently not enough when the house is full with guests
good position not far away from the city center super-market very close
for the late arrival no personnel to welcome you phonne-calls obligatory to get the keys not a direct access to the room
- supermarket is just near the guesthouse - in 10 min walk from the center on Akureyri - perfect value for money
- poor soundproofing
Friendly staff, good location, grocery store nearby.
Cleanlyness, wi-fi, personal friendly and had language skills. Central location close to city centre, swimming pool and restaurants
The location is great. U can even walk to the center. The house is clean
Had its own bathroom and kitchenette (with oven, oven top, mini-fridge, sink).
Low ceiling (in the studio apartment, because it was built into the house separate). Not the cleanest place (flecks on the sheets and crumbs on the floor).
Geothermal hot pool right at the back yard free of charge. Supermarket right across the house.
Kitchen need renovation. Tap was leaking. Stove was dirty. Room was small.
The Studio with kichenette and bathroom is a really good choice. It even has its own door directly leading to outside of the house which results in a high degeee of privacy. There is a supermarket right opposite to the guesthouse which is good.
Comfortable stay at fair price. Clean place, good but a bit small kitchen. Comfortable beds. Grocery shop almost opposite of this location (open till 11pm).
Staff not present, so many guests end up waiting for quite long time in order to check in. Staff only at the location when called. Otherwise this did not bother me. Laundry option was not available to the guests, even though advertised.
Nice kitchen facilities, good location and clean rooms.
No staff around upon arrival. You have to call them to come. Luckily they have a direct call button next to the door, so you do not have to make expensive calls from a foreign cell phone.
Very well located, lots of open spaces, nice decoration, the room was big enough for us 4! The owner is very attentive and everything was clean.
Only one bathroom for all rooms, but not really a big deal...
I did not like it at all. The internet did not work. I was charged for mor money than I booked for and 5 days later I have not received an answer from the owner because of that. When I pay for a room, I want it to be clean with toiletpaper. When I pay for a Internet access then I want to be able to use the internet but it did not work those 3 days I stayed there.
I liked the bed and the staff was good.
Good bed and free parking available
Tiny bathroom in room, a bit noisy and cooking smells from communal kitchen
This guesthouse was a lovely surprise & our favourite of 5 guest houses we stayed in while traveling around Iceland. This place was lovely, clean & bright with inspirational travel quotes for decor. Pros: 1/. Spotlessly clean - I found EVERYTHING tidy & clean. 2/. Service is exceptional - like other guesthouses I had to call when I arrived because the hosts aren't on site - usually this is a problem for us because we don't carry our cellphones - there was an intercom at the door that dialled them directly & she arrived in under 5 minutes - thank you! 3/. Large & tidy common area - I actually sat on the sofa watching the news on the big screen tv while sorting out my maps. 4/. Kitchen is well appointed - small but with all the comforts of home - there were times when it was untidy (other guests) but it was always clean. 5/. Hot tub in the backyard - a surprise & bonus - hot water (no bubbles though) - I'm sure if we had called & let them know the jets weren't working it may have been addressed - didn't detract for us - a hot soak was wonderful. 6/. across the street from a grocery shop that stays open quite late (by Icelandic standards) - if you need snacks, groceries etc - it is 500 meters away. 7/. A bbq in the backyard if you're feeling domestic on holiday - I didn't use it but it was clean & the tools required (scrubber, flipper etc) were available. 8/. Someone actually made my bed & replaced my towels on the 2nd day - the only time this happened in a guesthouse & I certainly didn't expect this level of "hotel" service - thank you very much! 9/. Plenty of onsite parking. 10/. wifi connection was excellent. 11/. LOTS of towels provided (2 guests = 2 large, PLUSH bath towels, plus 2 hand towels) - white, fluffy & plush - thanks again - nicer than any other guest house.
Cons: 1/. It is in the "suburbs" - if you have a car it doesn't matter because Akureyri isn't very big. If you don't have a car, it may be too far from the centre of things. 2/. The downstairs bathroom needs an update - it's clean but slightly tired. 3/. Upon arrival we entered through the front door to the main floor & were shown to our room in the basement - the stairs are quite narrow & steep but we didn't have to use them again - there is another entrance to the lower level which was absolutely fine & convenient.
Hot tub was great. The supermarket is on the other side of the road.
The sink and the shower were blocked. Upstairs guests kept borrowing kitchen equipment so it would suggest that there is not enough. The 2 mugs in the downstairs kitchen we cracked so leaked. Our beds had seen better days as one had a broken leg. The shower curtain was mouldy and the shower has seen better days. From first contacting the guesthouse upon arrival it was 2 hours before we could get in even though we called twice and were told some was on their way. The whole place needs a face lift but is functional.
Hot tub! Kitchen was very well equipped and there was a sink in our room, which was quite handy.
A bit far from the town centre.
