Beautiful location right near the center of Vik. Cozy quaint and very clean, so many sheep!
I liked the room the most. It´s very cozy. The place is good with a very good view and very well placed.
I did not like the room where the breakfast take place. It´s tiny and you have to wait in case that the hotel has a high occupancy, which was our case. Also, the schedule for the breakfast is short (1,5 hr). It should be longer if the room is tiny.
* OK breakfast * Kitchen available * Laundry available * Dogs
* Average noise isolation
Comfy beds, spacious room, very helpful staff, good to have access to kitchen, fridge storage etc.
Bit of a problem getting the shared shower to produce hot water - probably a temporary glitch.
The kindness of the staff, the quality of the food served for dinner and the room.
nothing to say
Super clean Staff really nice Very good equipment
The slow wifi
Good location, friendly and helpful staff, spacious and clean room, breakfast.
Rooms close to breakfast area were a little bit noisy.
Very comfortable rooms (we had an ensuite) although pricey as usual in Iceland. You can cook your own dinner in the guest kitchen if you want to save money. Staff were helpful and the location is great for Vik and surroundings.
By the staff's admission, the wifi is very slow. Dinner must be booked 24 hours in advance.
Vik may be the prettiest place we visited in our circle of Iceland. There are, at present, lots of puffin juveniles practicing flying at the cliffs west of downtown, parking is easy. Good restaurants also. The guesthouse is about 6 K outside of town. It is a working farm with the usual farm animals and Border Collies. Dinner is available at 7:30pm and while it looked good we went into town. The rooms have twin beds and are typical for this type operation. Owners very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Breakfast was very good. Would recommend to others. One negative the TV service was discontinued due to a scheduling snafu. However no other place we stayed at had TV channels worth watching, so it did not matter.
Bathroom door was warped and would not shut.
clean, comfy, friendly and in a great location.
Comfortable rooms, good breakfast. Very helpful staff. Very quiet.
Rooms one one of the sides are overlooking the parking while the rooms on the other side have a nice mountain view.
Location if you look for quietness
Definitely not recommended. The welcome from the host was terrible. We agreed on the phone we could have had a dinner at the hotel, but then they changed their mind as "it was too late" (20.30). Our expectations were very high, as this was the most expensive guesthouse we booked in our trip, and it is sincerely not worth the money. The furniture is ugly and poor, the TV has only 1 channel (Icelandic), the breakfast poor and not tasty, the old lady at the reception not nice at all. Avoid it!
Very cosy Good facility though situated in a farm
Dinner quite disappointing
The biggest room we've stayed among all in Iceland. Not far from Vik, and with very obvious sign to guide you to the path which doesn't look like to have a hotel. Good breakfast and equipped with public kitchen.
The wifi connection hardly works in the room, have to go to the lobby, but it's okay.
The owner is very nice and very helpful. Great location just outside of Vik. Dinner was good.
Cleanliness, friendly, helpful
Very close to the beautiful site of Dyrholay.
There are 16 rooms over only 2 bathrooms - so it was occuoied most the time. Rude and unpleasant signs in the kitchen ("we are not your mother! so clean your dishes!"). the dinner was sooo expensive and tasted soooo very bad - a very poor deal we took. Path from road no.1 to the guesthouse was rocky and long. Water in the showers wasn't warm enough and weak. Though in the bottom line it worth 6 of 10, this place was definitly the worst place in Iceland we have stayed in on our trip compared with the high price.
Our host was accommodating and kind. The room was nice (w/ shared bathroom to save money). The room was large w/ a sink, the bed VERY comfortable and the breakfast was the usual fare of bread, cereals, meats and cheese, plus fresh waffles. This place is a little outside of Vik, but we wanted the country experience as the guest house is right up against the foot-hills. Very picturesque.
Fabulous setting, surrounded by green fields bursting with birds (Snipe, Redshanks, Oystercatchers, Terns, Skuas). Lovely small verandah to enjoy evening sun till gone 10.30 pm
Rather limited breakfast buffet
Friendly staff, comfortable
though on the Ring Road, it's bit isolated
Room was very nice.
Go somewhere else for dinner.
It is hard to fault Guesthouse Steig. Friendly staff, good quiet location, nice big room, kitchen facilities more than adequate and I had no problem sleeping despite being a light sleeper. I stayed for six nights and it was the best of the (five) places I stayed in.
Very helpful and professional staff Very nice and relaxed breakfast area
Internet in room kept droping off Very limited number of tv stations
Good location for return from "iceburg lagoon.
clean n comfort
