Delicious food, very comfortable beds, and a stunning rural setting.
Perfect quiet stop off while travelling the south coast. Traditional rooms (well made furniture and comfortable), very quiet setting and good kitchen facilities.
Access road (1.5km or so) was a little difficult due to heavy snowfall. I had a 4x4 so was OK, but would have been very difficult in a small car.
Friendly and helpful staff. Decent breakfast buffet. Got room upgraded for free.
Single beds a bit too narrow. Very icy by the entrance in winter.
Everything`s calm and cosy there. You`ll get a lot love if you`re friendly and like to chat a bit with the owners. Will definetely come back.
- great location to explore Skogar and Vik areas (15-20 mins drive to both) - very secluded but easily accessible if you prefer tranquility and nature - fresh facilities - the place is very new - good nutritious breakfasts - friendly and helpful hosts - large kitchen where you can cook your own meals
Their breakfast was really good! Location was good to see the northern lights.
lovely hostel with cute dogs
Purpose built block of rooms attached to a working farm. Arrived late but given a friendly welcome and free up grade to a comfortable, clean, en suite room. Breakfast adequate but a bit "thin".
We knew when we booked that it was in an isolated location but did not realise it was 15km from Vik and up a rough track from the Ring Road so finding it late, in the dark and in driving rain was a bit of a challenge, but we made it!
Very comfortable and clean. The shared kitchen is well equipped. The staffs were nice and helpful. We checked out early in the morning (before the breakfast serving time), so they prepared sandwiches, juice and cookies for us to take away. :)
The room is quite small .
The property is located about 1km off Highway 1 on a farm. No traffic noise here. Very clean and comfortable, friendly staff, no hesitation recommending this place. The hearty soup at dinner was very good.
Internet only available in the reception area.
The rooms were very comfortable with a nice design. We liked having the sink in the room. And the plenty of clothes/towel hanging contrapments considering how rainy iceland was when we were there. Breakfast was good as well.
There is a rather long dirt road to get from highway 1 to the guesthouse.
We loved the rural setting giving us a great place from which to explore the South and East beyond the Golden circle. Our hosts went a huge step further, helping us to trace ancestry through the Icelandic Book. They were gracious and helpful.
Not one concern.
Beautiful location right near the center of Vik. Cozy quaint and very clean, so many sheep!
This is a well run, friendly, clean and comfortable guesthouse. As I find duvets too warm, the owner provided me with something lighter from home. Much appreciated! The lamb dinner was delicious as was breakfast.
I thought that with the fairly high cost of dinner that they would not charge 450 for coffee after dinner. Coffee is not expensive as I bought some at a grocery store. With 16 rooms it felt more like a hotel.
Very friendly and knowledgeable owner and all staff very efficient and enthusiastic. Food excellent. Great location for Solheimajokhull and recommend Arcanum.is for glacier hikes etc
Nothing to dislike
The facility was gorgeous; the staff, personable. Two beautiful shepherding dogs greeted us each morning as we left and evening as we returned. Staff went out of their way to accommodate dietary restrictions - vegan & gluten-free. Offered Northern lights wake-up calls.
Definitely overpriced considering the facility and amenities. Priced like a luxury hotel, but presented more like a very nice motel.
I liked the room the most. It´s very cozy. The place is good with a very good view and very well placed.
I did not like the room where the breakfast take place. It´s tiny and you have to wait in case that the hotel has a high occupancy, which was our case. Also, the schedule for the breakfast is short (1,5 hr). It should be longer if the room is tiny.
* OK breakfast * Kitchen available * Laundry available * Dogs
* Average noise isolation
Comfy beds, spacious room, very helpful staff, good to have access to kitchen, fridge storage etc.
Bit of a problem getting the shared shower to produce hot water - probably a temporary glitch.
The kindness of the staff, the quality of the food served for dinner and the room.
nothing to say
Super clean Staff really nice Very good equipment
The slow wifi
Good location, friendly and helpful staff, spacious and clean room, breakfast.
Rooms close to breakfast area were a little bit noisy.
Very comfortable rooms (we had an ensuite) although pricey as usual in Iceland. You can cook your own dinner in the guest kitchen if you want to save money. Staff were helpful and the location is great for Vik and surroundings.
By the staff's admission, the wifi is very slow. Dinner must be booked 24 hours in advance.
Vik may be the prettiest place we visited in our circle of Iceland. There are, at present, lots of puffin juveniles practicing flying at the cliffs west of downtown, parking is easy. Good restaurants also. The guesthouse is about 6 K outside of town. It is a working farm with the usual farm animals and Border Collies. Dinner is available at 7:30pm and while it looked good we went into town. The rooms have twin beds and are typical for this type operation. Owners very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Breakfast was very good. Would recommend to others. One negative the TV service was discontinued due to a scheduling snafu. However no other place we stayed at had TV channels worth watching, so it did not matter.
Bathroom door was warped and would not shut.
clean, comfy, friendly and in a great location.
