Set on a farm by Vatnajökull National Park, just 600 metres from the Ring Road, is this family-owned guest house. It offers a furnished terrace and an on-site restaurant with bar.
Score from 190 reviews Very good
Lovely food with great home made bread.
Relatively little light pollution (good for the Northern lights), close to the glacier lagoon.
You're far away from the closest shop and will be completely dependent on what they serve for dinner, which is not always cheap. In bad weather there won't be much to do around here.
Very bad sonic isolation. You can hear the guests in the neighbor rooms snore.
Close to Jokursarlon, good breakfast, very nice rooms, very friendly staff, also possible to get a good diner
The breakfast buffet was quite crowded
Great location near Jokulsarlon, incredibly friendly staff, delicious restaurant, interesting museum. Would absolutely stay here again on our next visit.
Very close to the glacier and not too far from Hofn. It is quite basic but clean and staff are friendly.
A stunning location, we were given a warm welcome and the food was exquisite!
Almost everything. Lovely and quiet too.
Not sure where to check in as there are several buildings, but this is nit picking.
The host really give me Useful recommendations about driving on such a slippery road since I've never had such experiences. They checked weather and road conditions for me and helped me modify my plan which I was already planned. It makes me fell warm staying in this hotel. I'll miss them!
Convenient location near to the Glacier Lagoon Jökulsárlón, with stunning views to the sea and with a local museum. The room was large, dinner and breakfast was very good. The staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional.
I liked this Hotel very much.Everything was excellent from the rooms to the staff and the food was delicious. Everyone was just so helpful and polite.
Wonderful staff. Decent breakfast buffet. Spacious rooms and public area. Well equipped kitchen and living room for guests. "Mini organ" still makes music and fun.
Their page at Booking.com looks not as good as they really are!
This was our 3rd or 4th visit of Hali and we are still pleased with this very good accomodation. This time we had one of the new rooms in the main House, very clean and nice and still matching the style of the house. Breakfast was delicious as always and the lamb for dinner a dream.
WLAN in the reception area wasn't as reliable as in the room.
We had a great experience at Hali. The whole property is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. The hotel is a on a farm and the staff all live there and take care of the hotel and restaurant. They pride themselves on serving food that is locally farmed at Hali. The room was very comfortable and a great spot for viewing the Aurora Borealis!
Great mountain view, and perfect location for Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon.
close to jokulsarlon good for northern light watching room and sitting room + kitchen
confusing on arrival especially when it is dark
great location close to Jokulsarlon nice museum free tea & coffee all day long good info about weather condition from owner friendly personal
weather (very stormy in December 2014)
Very comfortable bed and clean. Location is excellent. Only 15 min drive to the glacier lagoon. Breakfast was good too.
Did what it said on the tin. Good location and well priced accommodation. VViewsfrom room over the sea.
Reception (at enterance) was poorly signposted but was aggrivated by it raining heavily. Would not be a problem when it's not raining.
Food in restaurant very good. Friendly staff. We stayed in the pretty yellow cottage and it was very roomy and comfortable.
There was no microwave in the kitchen, although the stove worked very well. Also no Icelandic TV stations, but lots of BBC and other channels. Understandable I guess, since most visitors are probably non Icelanders.
We joined the ice cave. It was great.
We got upgraded somehow, and had 2 lovely rooms plus living room & kitchen in the yellow house. The breakfast was really good with lots of choices. The museum was small, but a nice historical reference. It was a wonderful stay! I truly hope we can return someday!!
Stuff was very friendly and place was really nice, we enjoyed stay very much
Restaurant could have more options in menu
Amazing dinners at the local restaurant, however the hotel had self-cooking facilities as well. (no place to get groceries, so stalk up ahead of time) The museum attached is also really informative and interesting. It gives you a good feel for Iceland in early 1900's. A great stay for us!
Fantastic friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast - best bread I have had in Iceland. Excellent location. Close to the glacial lagoon.
