Beautiful, comfortable room. Excellent food and service. Right at tourist info centre and hiking path,
Super nice staff comfy room great view close to great hike good food awesome location
Well situated near the cliffs, great view on the sea from the restaurant, ideal center for touring the peninsular, breakfast buffet was OK
Shortly after we arrived in the area we had an incident with our vehicle which required a lot of time and effort to resolve. The staff were excellent, very supportive, and patient. It made the whole incident much easier to deal with. My opinion of the rental company is very low, but thanks in part to the staff at Hotel Hellnar, this did not impact seriously on an awesome trip to Iceland. Can't wait to go back again.
Location! Even though I was lucky to stay at Hotel Hellnar in September, I can only imagine what it would be like to stay in the summer. Amazingly beautiful location. The staff was also exceptionally friendly and helpful; I was staring at a map of Iceland and they stopped to offer advice on favourite places, unique stays, etc. which was very much appreciated (and followed!) I'd highly recommend it.
Nice sit-down dinner spot, chill lobby area with amazing view and cute bar area. Location right by the road to the glacier and saw Norther Lights here too! Once you go to Iceland you'll see that it is a gem to find a place as nice as this in such a vast area. Staff were super nice too. I would go back for sure.
Iceland in general is pricey, but this is a great place for what you pay.
Super nice staff, heavenly beds and delicious resto. Probably the coziest place you can find at this end of the world!
Food was outstanding and personnel very helpful
Room rather basic and not too clean
This hotel is literally in the shadow of the volcano. Our room was ocean view and it was great. The food at dinner was excellent and breakfast was a very well stocked buffet.
The location, the food, The dining room, the cosy lounge, that we got information about the weather situation
Unfortunately it was raining through the window in our room, and the water from the shower had difficulties to find its way out....
Groups seem to use. They were loud in dining room area so kind of ruined the nice view/feel of our meal. Later this group was heard running back and forth in the hallway. They got excited when Northern Lights were visible which was ok as we wanted to see but when went to go out front door they clogged entry and oblivious to others and had to side step down to get past.
We could not be happier with our stay at Hotel Hellnar. The hotel itself was beautiful, the room nice and cozy, the staff super kind and helpful—and the view of the cliffs and the ocean was incredible. It was amazing to eat breakfast (so tasty) then walk down the path and climb through the ocean cave.
Our bedroom and private bath were spacious and very comfortable. The property and view are lovely and extremely well located to enjoy the trail from Hellnar to Arnarstapi.
The restaurant is overpriced and there were no other close options since the museum café was closed.
Service from the staff were impeccable; they were always friendly and nothing was ever too much of a trouble. We asked for a kettle which they did not have but immediately provided some hot water. Nicely decorated room with private bathroom - good water pressure and underfloor heating.
Our room faced the carpark (Rm 30) and you could hear cars approaching during peak check-in timings.
Very friendly staff. Great sea view from the rooms (even when it's pouring rain!). Rooms with the balcony on the sea are highly recommended. Restaurant and reception both have very nice sea views. Food was very good (lobster soup).Great place for a calm and romantic week-end (from reykjavik;-)
Location was amazing and we can just visit the place for the view and it offers. Hotel is located on probably the most scenic road of Iceland.
Friendly staff, nice location, good breakfast
The room. No kettle or bar fridge, toilet roll holder at ankle height, open shower design so the entire bathroom floods every time someone showers, light switch directly behind head of bed so you accidentally turn the light on during the night and wake yourself up, no complimentary toiletries at all, very very basic hotel.
The room was very clean and quiet. The evening meal was one of the best I ever had in Iceland. Fresh food and perfectly prepared. 'The front desk staff was very courteous.
All was fine. Problems with WiFi connection but I don"t care much about that in such a beautiful locale.
Welcome was good and the room comfortable with views across the coast. Good breakfast and comfortable lounge area.Good place to explore Snafellsness from
clean, excellent sleep quality
expensive for a family of 5
The view from the hotel was lovely and to be able to walk a long the coastal path was great. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. The reception area was welcoming.
Nothing except the room was quite small and basic
Hotel atmosphere Great view Location Excellent breakfast and dinner
Staff not that helpful Room quite small for the price
everything is perfect. hotel is too much expensive but not for island.
The location is great and the surrounding area beautiful. The restaurant is good.
It is fairly expensive for what you get, but then again this is Iceland.
The staff, room, restaurant are all excellent. The hotel is well situated along the south shore of the peninsula with easy access to all the park has to offer.
The only minor detractor was the shower setup is more attractive looking than practical. The shower door was not long enough so there was water that spread throughout the bathroom if you weren't careful with the shower head.
