It was very good athmosphere there and the place was very relaxing after long trips around Iceland. I recomend this hostel to everyone. It was better then in 3 star hotels i've been in the past...
Location, cleanliness, atmosphere
- good wifi, both in-room and common areas, despite a lot of reviews saying otherwise. - clean - VERY quiet (eerily quiet? a lot of rooms but only a handful of other guests in my 9 days there) - good duvet bedding - literally a 2 minute walk to the main shopping street. Grocery store is just a few minutes further.
- No one hangs out in the so-called common areas. There's a small, comfy lounge with flat-screen and stereo but I sat there and was harassed by "security." It's unwelcoming. You're basically encouraged to stay in your room. - There's a full kitchen and dining room area meant to be a semi-cafe, but it's never been open. You're not allowed to use that kitchen nor sit at the array of tables. Hostel guests are made to use a tiny half-kitchen (fridge, sink and microwave) and one cheap table by the dorms. Another guest and I sat quietly at the dining room tables one afternoon to use our laptops, and the next day staff had closed the whole area off completely.
The hostel had a very good location and was very central located. The rooms were clean. There were also enouth badrooms available and also computer with internet and a TVs. The other people who lived there were very friendly and you could find very nice people there for doing activities. Except for the staff I can recommend the hostel.
There was very little staff there what is ok. But the hostel should make sure that the few people who work there are friendly. Especially the woman from the cafeteria should be replaced by a friendlier person and the cleaning women should learn english. It came to some misunderstandings because of that.
Large, roomy and very clean. Quiet and just a five minute walk from the centre. Self serving so no hassle but staff will turn up if you have an issue. The place would be perfect if not for the lack of cooking facilities.
Your cooking is limited, you need your own stove. You have a microwave for cooking and that's about it. Toaster, kettle, glasses, cups plates etc... are all there. Just nothing to actually cook with. That includes gas, pans and pots!
Everything's new and clean and big
No fire/gas for cooking
Perfect location, nice and quiet both inside and outside. 5 minute walk and you're in the heart of the restaurant/shopping street.
Bit of a institution feeling.
I like the bathrooms and the rooms!
no counter to ask informations
comfy beds and enough room to move around freely. Everything one needs.
Rooms are large, new and clean although you can feel it was an hospital before. Enough bathrooms for everyone I didnt like my first room so they changed it easily
The absence of staff is a bit disturbing but it's fine in the end
I liked the room with comfortable beds, a sink and big windows with blackout blinds. I liked the location--a bit away from the hustle of town but close enough to easily walk. It was also next door to a swimming pool and hot tub. I liked the communal space and the cleanliness.
I wished there had been a stove top and oven. There were times when I wished for a receptionist who could offer advice.
showers bit dirty, cleaning lady left door open with all our stuff
Great location, great decor, very clean, great big hot shower (perfect for after those long days hiking/sight-seeing etc). Decent kitchen facilities.
Hostel B47 exceeded my expectations. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.
Being able to cook one's own food in the kitchen, since Reykjavik restaurants are expensive
No facilities for washing clothes.
Feels like home!
Kitchen needs more pots and pans for cooking. Pasta needs strainer!
good design and convenient
The system without any keys just codes is very convenient!
Very high quality and super clean Close to center and BSI bus station
Very poor WIFI
Check-in with the codes is quite easy
It was loud all the night, i couldn't sleep at least ten minutes
Location in relation to city centre is great. Also lovely swimming hall right next door, just ISK 600. Good bed. Quieter than expected.
The kitchenette really should have hobs/cooker!
Had to pay when booked couldn't cancel - never stayed as it was near wrong airport be warned lost £100
clean and tidy
I live there for 4 nights and see at least three free takers who obviously sleep on others' beds without paying and once being discovered, walk away to other rooms. If there is no staffing for registration, it turns out that some people follow others without knowing code (or easily know the code by watching !!!) and who knows if they are thieves ?! I myself don't find this place safe in sleeping at night when I encounter those persons in my room !
