Everything was alright. Got everything I needed and was the only and last guest of the season.
A bit expensive room and food. But it is Iceland so it makes sense.
Larger to which we were upgraded. The excellent meal with exceptional service. Tranquility.
There wasn't anything we disliked.
The hotel is in a superb point. The area around it is typical Icelandic, very beautiful and gives you a sense of piece. The hotel is very good, clean, quiet and has a restaurant and a mini market. Very good choice.
There is nothing I disliked.
The Bjarkalundur is on road 60 at the start of the Westfjords south coast, and 10 mins from road 61 junction which goes to the north coast. The bright room and private bathroom were a good size (there are also much cheaper small twin rooms with shared facilities). There is an open plan bar / lounge / restaurant. Fried cod and monkfish was brought to the table in a big frying pan, which we really enjoyed.
The huge parking area can look a bit of a 'truck stop' with 4x4s, superjeeps, and vans visible from the rooms.
We stayed in one of the guesthouses of hotel Bjarkalundur. They were very nice, not big but wirh good beds, a kitchenette and good shower. The staff was very friendly, we stayed for a few days and every day we had a nice meal, good quality and the prices were not expensive compaired to other hotels. There were also vegetarian options.
Too expensive compared with similar places.
Staff is very friendly. Our room was big with 3 windows, beds are confortables and bathroom clean. We relaxed after a long trip. We had dinner there and very well.
Nice cottages and rooms Good dinner and breakfast
There was actually a bed in the room. Someone left the window open to let the warm +8°C air in which was very appreciated after the ice cold shower. Without the bike gear we were "allowed" to buy food in the restaurant.
Disrespectful staff, although "check in first and then come back" was nicer than to say straight out that they don't want bikers in the restaurant. The shower did not have any warm water at all. Very small rooms.
Restaurant was expensive and really bad.
Good start point to enter the west fjords
Basically in the middle of nowhere
Almost nothing positive
Staff was a bit rude, they asked us the price we paid once we arrived as it sounds that people who book with booking.com has a different treatment, the room was awful, the only window of the room was broken and fixed with tape, there's no space for 3 people and there were a dirty mattress just beside one of the beds, internet barely worked. This hotel hasn't been renewed in 30 years, at the very least, apart from the shared bathroom, which it's already falling apart even if it looks fairly new.
Nothing, on the place was good, but the food on the resturant was OK, only reason we have booked this was because the distans to Latraberg, try something in close Reykehola instead.
Nothing sems to have been done on this place the last 50 years, you can here everthing done or sad in the surranding room as if they stayed in your room, Dont trust a word from the Basil Fawelty look a lika manager. The Wifi dosent work if you dosent log on every time and was extreamly slo, the worst we have had in Island
The restaurant served surprisingly great meals. The atmosphere is clearly that of holiday
The parking lot in front of the hotel is destroying the view from the terrace in front of the hotel when many cars are present. There were, when we were there for rest in the evenings due to the restaurant, I suppose.
Position of the hotel is great. You can easily find it. The room was clean with a washbasin.
I had to ask for hot water when I wanted to make a tea for breakfast, only coffee was available. Also, everything was very expensive in the hotel, if you wanted to have dinner or buy something in a local shop (One can of beer for 1200 ISK).
We stayed in a cottage it was ok but the hotel was very poor breakfast also
Very kind staff Beautifull surrounding
Free breakfast Clean
Stefan was rude when checking in Paper thin walls They lock the doors around 11 pm and guests don't have keys. So basically you have a curfew even though there is still daylight during the summer They only gave us one access code for wifi even though we booked two rooms.
Nice breakfast selection.
The reception staff was reserved and uninviting.
Too expensive for what it offers. No heating (which is a problem during a windy night in Island where the temperature is 5 degrees celsius...). The road to go there and to leave this place is really a mess, so it takes twice to reach it and it is really in the middle of nowhere...
bleakest breakfast we have been served in Iceland - wi-fi was a pain (required logging in every time you tried to connect) - 7 day cancellation policy is WAY too long
Good location in the middle of a fantastic nature.
Hótel Bjarkalundur was the first hotel we stayed at in the West Fjords on our drive to the Latrabarg bird cliffs. We stayed in a cabin, which was on the small side but perfectly fine for a couple. The man at reception was very friendly. And the breakfast (which was included) filled us up, which was good since the West Fjords are VERY desolate with not too many places to stop to get a bite to eat.
Cabin was basically just a small room with not much space to move around in but small spaces are very common in Iceland.
Marvelous dinner, beautifully served. The location was a perfect mid-point for a long day for us, between Lake Myvatn and Latrabjarg. Rooms are small but were comfortable. Shared bathroom facilities were very clean.
