This 4-star hotel is centrally located on Akureyri's pedestrian street, by the Eyjafjördur Fjord. It offers in-room minibars and tea/coffee makers, dry cleaning services and traditional Icelandic cuisine. The bright, airy rooms at Hotel Kea feature wooden floors, satellite TV channels and writing desks. The in-house restaurant specialises in hearty local dishes made from fresh seasonal produce. Kea Hotel also offers an extensive wine list to suit all tastes. A nearby spa and gym offers discounts to guests. Akureyri Airport is 1.5 km from the hotel, while both Akureyri's Botanical Gardens and Akureyri Church are within a 5 minutes' walk. Perfect central location, comfortable hotel Shower stall is very small; cannot turn without hitting flimsy plastic walls. Sink is very small and is installed very close to a glass vanity shelf. As a result, when you wash your face you invariably smash your forehead against the vanity shelf. If you move a little back not to touch the shelf, you end up washing your face not over the sink, but over the floor, where you quickly make a huge puddle. Otherwise, a very nice hotel - bed is comfortable (on the softer side), room is clean, wi- fi in the room, staff speaks excellent English, lobby/bar/interior are nicely appointed, getting to the hotel from the airport could not be easier - everything you would expect from an above-average priced scandinavian hotel.

Location is right in the center of town. Everything is expensive in Iceland, but this hotel is ridiculous. The rate is outrageously high considering that the rooms are small, the bathrooms are minimal, the furniture is sparse and not very comfortable, breakfast was mediocre, etc. I'm not a fussy traveler, so these facilities would normally be okay with me... At about half the price! There aren't many hotel options in Akureyri -- and they're all relatively high-priced -- but one of them has got to be a more reasonable deal than this.

Very clean and amazing beds. I had the best night sleep. The douvet was with real featers as opposed to synthetic ones hence it was hot at the right level. I had issues sleeping everywhere else in Iceland as the rooms where too hot or too cold. At KEA everything was perfect the bathroom and the shower were kind of small and the breakfast was ok but not amazing

Cleanliness. Very expensive hotel for such a small city. They double -charged my credit card, still waiting for one amount to be returned.

Mjög fallegt hótel í hjarta Akureyrar. Hlýlegt og virðulegt innan dyra. Góður morgunverður og öll þjónusta í kringum hann. Notaleg tónlist í salnum. Mjög smekklegar innréttingar á herbergjum. Frábær rúm og rúmföt, t.d. sængur og koddar fyrsta flokks. Það eina sem við getum sett út á er að ekki var loftræsting á salerni, sem er bagalegt þegar snyrting er í sama rými, sem er gluggalaust. Einnig var sturtan léleg og ekki í samræmi við "standard" hótelsins.

Jeg er meget fornøyd med hotellet, fikk ekstraservice. Sønnen ringte og fortalte at mamma fylte 60 dagen vi kom, vi fikk en suite uten å betale noe ekstra. Dette var sikkert fordi vi komm utenfor høysesong, det var ikke fullt på hotellet. Jeg vil bo på dette stedet neste gang, selv om det blir på et ordinært rom.

“The hotel was beautifully and stylishly decorated. The reception is a big comfortable room where you can relax. Very friendly staff. Our room was lovely and luxurious. We had dinner in the restaurant. It was not too expensive by Icelandic standards and our meals were very good. I would definitely stay here again, it was the nicest place we have stayed in Iceland.We did not have breakfast, but the dining room was lovely, like the rest of the hotel.” Nicci, Schladming |
