Nice clean room and bathroom. Comfortable beds. Easy walking distance from the centre of Reykjavik. when I made the oringinal booking, I inadvertently booked for 7 nights, then realised I should have only booked for 5 nights. I had chosen the cheaper, non refundable option and it was my mistake so I did not expect to get any money back. However the Hotel very kindly gave us a free upgrade to a beautiful large room, which I thought was nice of them and over and above what I was expecting. The hotel is not marked in any way as a Best Western Hotel and is known locally as Hotel Reykjavik. When we arrived at Keflavik airport and caught a coach from the airport to the city, the coach company, Reykjavik Excursions, offered a minibus drop off service for guests at the local hotels. When I asked for Best Western hotel the driver said he had never heard of it, and even went to confirm with a colleague who had also not heard of it. Eventually we made our own way from the bus station, with our luggage, on foot. If I had not been to Iceland before and known the area, this would have been very difficult. This could be avoided by making it clear to guests that they should ask for Hotel Reykjavik

This hotel could be described as an oasis in reykjavik. Not far away from downtown(about 10-15mins walking),clean, with a very nice buffet for breakfast and free wifi and tv!The staff is very helpful and willing to show you your way around reykjavik.Above all, they care about the interest of the client since it is most probable to send you make some exchange at the bank instead of making it at the hotel reception if the ratio is very different! The stinky water! But after all we are in iceland!!!it stinks but it is most potable...

I expected a nice breakfast similar to other Scandinavian hotels. This was quite mediocre, just bare minimum. The single room was clean, but very small.

All of the staff were extremely helpful and very pleasant. They had good suggestions as well as great directions for getting places. In addition, the restaurant attached had wonderful bruschetta. The availability of secure parking at the hotel was especially appreciated.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely courteous, friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was good, as it was in a fairly quiet area, yet still easily accessible for the city centre on foot. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Clean modern in appearance and just a bit out of the shopping district. good underground safe parking. Rooms are small and very compact. Bathroom tiny, shower only, no tub, and no counter in bathroom to put anything. For a Best Western, felt the amenities in the room were limited. No extras, i.e hot tub, pool, etc.

Staff were friendly and all spoke English well. Breakfast was very good. Readily accomodated an early checkin (had to fly on an overnight flight to avoid hurricane Irene). Have to remember that this is a European hotel, and, as such, has that type of accomodation, compared to North American hotels E.G. smaller rooms, twin beds pushed together (rather than a Queen) etc. (shows below that I only booked the double or twin room, that is because a queen either didn't exist or was not available, so the double was my second choice not my first.)

We had a great room, 214 in the front of the hotel, 120 degrees of window. Not that there is any real view. The lady at the front desk was so helpful booking trips and the staff were great, she should be singled out and commended. Breakfast buffet was very good, hotel clean, bed comfortable, couple of places to eat close by. Harry's was great value for money. Would stay there again. There is a grocery store close by and the hotel is close to the shops. The hotel rooms are more European in sytle, don't think that you going to get tonns of space. We had a double delux which was quite spacious for the two of us. We didn't need the pull out bed so used it as a sitting area. It is about 15 - 20 minutes walk to down town, We chose the hotel for the available car parking. We found that we did not need a car so staying out of down town was our choice. As it turned ot a good choice.

We had a 2 storey room connected by a spiral staircase so we could sleep upstairs and our children could sleep downstairs, which worked really well. The beds were really quite uncomfortable and creaky - every movement during the night was noisy!

Location was great being close to everything we wanted but the outlook left a little to be desired. The staff were helpful although not always smiling but nothing seemed too much for them. The room was clean although under the bed was very dusty. We had forgotten to arrange some things and the reception faxed and phoned on our behalf. We liked:- having a lift; being next door to two first class restaurants; the friendly atmosphere; the food (especially breakfast); proximity to the harbour area; reasonably quiet part of town. Altogether a teriffic time. Strongly recommend you stay if you can afford it. Outlook wasn't that good but who cares if it's just to sleep at. Noise from the car horns at the garage next door. They beep to get out.

The family room had an interesting design, with a spiral staircase and a loft bedroom and a sofa bed in the downstairs part of the room. Our teen kids loved sleeping in the loft and it added a unique aspect and more space than you normally get in a hotel family room. Luckily they were old enough to manage the staircase without much trouble. I think little kids might struggle. The continental breakfast was perfectly adequate each morning. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We picked the hotel for location and rate - and as advertised it was a very easy 10-15 minute easy walk to town, for shopping, restaurants etc. The very best restaurant was right next door - Harry's. Great service and wonderful food, very convenient. The sofa bed was uncomfortable as they typically are in hotels. The room was rather warm and has no a/c. or ventilation - too hot for sleeping. Also, no blind on the skylight so very light at night.

Excellent breakfast service and assistance from hotel staff with booking local tours and outings. Our room was clean enough, but it wasn't quite up to usual hotel standards. It was very dusty under the bed, where I found a luggage tag belonging to a previous guest, for example.
