Conveniently on Laugavegur shopping street central Reykjavik, Hotel Frón offers free Wi-Fi and rooms and apartments with private bathrooms. All apartments include kitchen facilities.
Score from 681 reviews Very good
None of the staff that we encountered were particularly friendly- the lady on reception didn't even say hello when we arrived, instead she just handed us the keys!
Very good price, stunning view, large sized room.
Without a car, the location would be a little far away from the city centre. No free breakfast was provided, but price was cheap.
Nice room, new room/bathroom fittings. There was ample free on-site parking.
Too much noise from room above, hard to get ant sleep
The smell of the room hit me every day. The hotel was much further out than I realised - £15 in a taxi as I couldn't walk to town. There we're no shops or restaurants within a 15 minute walk, and those nearest weren't great. Ourdouble bed was two singles pushed together, but they didn't fit together, so still a gap. I was freezing at night - one small radiator for a huge room.
The room itself was nice. It was actually better than expected. Studio apartment with a nice bathroom.
Location - seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. Mostly quiet at night but there was the sound of snow trucks or something (I couldn't be bothered to look out of the window) from about 6am. Also didn't see anywhere close to get food after a late arriving tour. Probably more suited to people with a car.
Only stayed for one night but the room was spacious with good facilities including tea, coffee, fridge and microwave. At check in we were allowed to pay cash to split the bill. Wifi was strong and worked well. Despite being remote it is on the drop off/pick up list for tours. Would stay again but only for a first/last night.
The hotel is a bit dated. I hate shower curtains, which they had in this hotel
The girl at the reception was very helpfull and kind Location is good, if you have a rental car
There was no faults with this hotel we got what we paid for
The friendly staff the rooms were a good size and it wasn't too far from supermarkets and places to grab a bite to eat before heading off downtown. The beds were very comfortable and we had fresh linen and towels daily
The staff were brilliant, really helpful; they were polite & very helpful
Hard to find, drove past several times without spotting the hotel. No lift made getting the luggage to the room a chore.
That it is located in an "Industrial estate" type location. Very random place to have a hotel!
Modern room, very clean, polite staff, helpful and very good value for money.
Breakfast too expensive
Great place, i was surprised to sea the reviews because everything was so good, especially at a good price. Clean and nice room, tea/coffee for free, silent and confy... Good staff
a bit far from city center
big room, kitchen area in the room, tea and coffee facilities, clean
The weekend receptionist, I think she was american by the accent. their treatment was quite rude, she strove not to be sympathetic or greet.
The girl who spoke Spanish was the best. She did everything she could to help.
Staff aren't very helpful. They smile between themselves but never at you. Location isn't the best to go to the centre.
Iceland is Expensive so this is a good value for money hotel, nothing else.
* this is a small hotel, so dont expect few things.. like elevators (so helpful when you are traveling with small kid) * depends on which side of building your room is wind blows can be extremely loud or don't exist at all
* you can ask for room with kitchen (so helpful when you are traveling with small kid) * this is a small hotel, so everyone is helpful *
The reception is not 24/7, sink and stoves were a bit dirty, fridge was leaking so the floor was wet, person at the desk was nice but didn't give any information apart from room number, the area around is not very pretty but the price was low.
Cheap, we were upgraded to en-suite room, free parking, quite close to the center, room included kitchenette and free tea and coffee, comfortable beds, lots of space.
maybe some new instalation in the shower
nice room, good beds, nice staff. the location was a bit far from the city center, but you are told about that in the information about the hotel
The staff was very rude. Her explanation about payment in euros versus isk was confusing. Also I earlier clarified with the hotel by email whether there was any difference if I paid in euros or isk if my home country is sgd and was told there was none. Actually there was quite a significant difference, almost S$10, and the staff was quite intractable about reversing my charge in isk to let me pay cash in euros, firstly claiming that it was impossible then later admitting it was just because her manager wasn't around to authorise the reversal. Then she told me that anyway they don't accept euros in cash. I don't know if that was true or not. Then she insisted i sign the credit card charge slip cos she cannot reverse. I was forced to accept the situation because I had to go and buy a sim card before the shops closed. Anyway it was a wholly unpleasant experience. For the extra it cost me, i should have just chosen another hotel with a more flexible policy.
Far away from the city centre. WiFi didn't work very well.
Big room with private bathroom and double bed. It also had a mini kitchen. Heating was enough. Breakfast costs 1500 ISK.
The antipathy of the receptionist weekend, American by his accent.
The receptionist who spoke Spanish.
Location is a 35 minute walk from the centre. Buses 14,15 and 17 from a nearby stop take you to the centre in 5-10 minutes. Bedding is only changed once every three days. Breakfast is expensive for what it is.
Price is good, room was clean, large and comfortable. Everyone knows where it is. Easy to find.
Everything was fine.
Got in 12 hours late from JFK, no sleep. Rented a car. The hotel was easy to find at night in the rain. I was looking for something convenient for my first to nights in Iceland to recover from the flight and get oriented for a 2 1/2 week trip. All lodgings are expensive in Iceland but this one was reasonable. It served my purposes. Nice walk to downtown.
It is a 30 minute walk to the more active side of town. There is not really a decent place to find food close by. Nothing in the general vacinity to do.
It was quiet at night. If you had rented a car and were out touring it would be a fine place to retire to at night.
Bus ride away from the main city center but then again, this just takes 10 minutes or so.
For the price, you get a bedroom with a comfortable bed and own bathroom (very rare at this price in Reykjavik). Check-in and check out was efficient, room was relatively clean but showing its age. This is a no-frills accommodation that would suit someone who just needs a place to sleep. Big bonus is free, strong WIFI.
The hotel did not provide bath soap or enough towels.
