Friendly and ver helpful staff. Simple but nice breakfast, and great dinner at the restaurant. Free wifi worked very well. Nice and clean room with an amasingly big bed!
The bathroom was a bit too small (the bed was way bigger!). Not really a problem for us.
Wonderful staff! !!!!
Small beds not used to. Wifi would not work in room but in lobby it did.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Very close to shops, and bus stop. Love the viking theme. Food is delicious.
The themed viking hotel is brill , and we were made very welcome, the food was excellent and good value for money.
The only things that are nice about this hotel are the exteriors and the viking decoration in public areas. Note that there are no photos of the rooms in the hotel description, there is a reason for that!
Room was very dated and small. Bathroom very old, small and quite uncomfortable. Beds very uncomfortable and we got two different types of pillows (one very clumpy and the other one very hard) There was no bed lamp.
Great location, less than 15 minute drive to Reykjavik. Clean rooms and exceptionally helpful staff.
We are going to remember our the best ever trip, Iceland trip forever for many reasons. The hotel Viking made our stay memorable. We made a choice to stay at hotel Viking for 2 days during our 6 days visit in Iceland. Why hotel viking: We wanted something special for an occasion of my wife's birthday. The unique Viking theme creates a magical environment where you can feel the ancient Icelandic & Nordic culture. Few places in hotel like the area behind reception & it's restaurant are so well created that once you are in, you'll feel like living in a Viking age. We found that the hotel is run by a family who seems highly dedicated towards it. We found this hotel a very well maintained, very beautifully & thoughtfully created, peaceful, very clean with all the basic facilities & wifi with good speed & good breakfast option & with a nice restaurant & plenty of parking space. LOCATION: We were skeptical about the location at first but it was not that bad. If you come from airport, you can opt for 'Flybus' to reykjavik, which has first stop just outside hotel. This place is in suburbs of Reykjavik, 11 kms (17- 20 mins by car) from main city centre or main shopping street. If you don't have a rented car like us, you can opt for 'Straeto' (S) bus from Fjörður bus stop (300 metres from hotel) to Hlemmur square(bus stop at one end of main shoping street 'Laugavegur')(Fare ISK 350) to reach main city centre area & shopping street. Within 300 meters from hotel Viking, you will get international food chains outlets as Subway, Domino's Pizza & a shopping complex with a good Bakery. In morning, when we opened our room's window, the Atlantic ocean was just cross the road, that was amazing. MAIN AREAS OF TOURIST'S INTEREST: Which are closer to Hotel Viking than City Center are 'Reykjanes' and 'Blue Lagoon' & airport.
Only negative was that if you want to enjoy night life you need to go city centre which was 11 kms away from hotel. If you have rented a car then there is no problem.
This was our 4th stay at Viking Hotel and each visit we enjoy the hotel more and more. The staff is a great group of people, very ready to make your stay a pleasure. We will be back!
comfy beds, fairly big and clean bathroom and good size of the room
Nothing in particular
Location, comfort, smiling people helping you in a simply and efficacious way.
Good location,tasty breakfast,friendly staff
Really poor wifi
Near to bus stop for quick get away!
The people, the whole place! Truly awful. First and last time to Iceland and would not recommend the hotel.
The breakfast was good.
The room was above the outside pool, and due to the people in pool, the noice was annouing. Due to the time difference we would like to sleep abt. 9 pm but there was heavy noice from the pool until 11 pm. The room was a little bit damp as well as the bedding and linen.
Great Location. Beds in cottages were comfortable. Breakfast was varied and high quality. Staff were helpful and accommodating.
Wifi access coverage was not good. Beds in Hotel were like a massage table!
Booked Superior Room and ended up with an outside Cabin. Bit annoyed at first as it was our Wedding Anniversary and thought we would have a nice big room after looking at the pictures on the website but it actually ended up being alright. The cabin was warm and cosy when we got back in the evening and the bathroom floor was heated. Plus if you got back late after looking for the Northern Lights (which we did see on our last night!) we weren’t disturbing any of the other hotel guests
Breakfast was poor. The first morning they had porridge which was great to warm you up ready for the day but then they didn’t have it again the rest of the week. Ended up eating cereal the rest of the week as the bread was stale most of the time. Coffee was great though!
The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The construction on the premises was superb! An incredible amount of effort has gone into it's construction, it is very special and help creates a bigger "holiday" feel. Quite an adventurous place, with a lot to see, plus good rooms and very friendly people. I highly recommend this place to others!
Everything was incredibly good! Fantastic on all counts, apart from just two things… If you want wifi in your room, I certainly couldn't get it all the time, I think their wifi system could do with updating so the wifi coverage is better. The other thing was the price of food, I think I paid around £20 for fish and chips, rather expressive really! If I remember right, one of the cheapest dishes was a burger and chips for £8-10. That was a price I was fine with, but the other food can be a bit pricey. It is a special place, but the price was a little bit too special. The rooms were very nicely priced! Only the food a bit expensive. So that's it really, just wifi that isn't everywhere and food that could be a little less of a price. Apart from those two factors there wasn't anythings wrong. I highly, highly recommend this place! It's well worth a visit and will be somewhere you will remember :)
Excellent food in the restaurant. Friendly, helpful & courteous staff.
Not enough tea & coffee in room. Room very small. No wardrobe space.
Nice decoration, with a common area near the entrance, good location
Extreme small twin room, can't even open and flat a 28" luggages on the floor between the two beds, the breakfast coast 10 Euro, but the choice is very limited
Unique atmosphere, very nice and helpful staff.
The room and services were all ok. Nothing amazing but fine. interesting 10 minutes looking around the hotel.
breakfast was a bit sparse. dinner was a bit overpriced but the food was fine.
The Hotel is located in Hafnafjödur, very close (8km) from Reykjavik! The viking theme is presented everywhere in the Hotel- in the rooms, in the Restaurant, the souveniers you can buy there and the dress of the People, who work there!! In the Restaurant you can get very special viking food, viking music and Ambiente! The food was very good and also the breakfast was very nice- especially the breakfast room!! The poeple there where all very friendly and helpful, and speak English very well!! I you want to Book some trips or day-tours they help you and book it for you!! Hot Pot and sauna are outside and can be used till 10 in the evening!! Room were cleaned good every day and also new towels every day!! Room size was good and comfortable bed!! Was a very perfect Trip there for a good price! We will come back for sure!!!
One of a kind hotel! breakfast was excellent. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall a good stay.
The hotel staff were very helpful. They rang and rearranged some of our excursions, and we're happy to do so. The room was big and clean. The whole hotel public areas were themed - which was interesting!
The hotel is quite a distance from the centre of rekyjavik. This wasn't a problem for us as our excursion company offered free hotel pick ups and drop offs. It was only one bus into the city #1 (every 20 mins) that took about half hour.
Slept like a log and in the morning ate like a king at breakfast
