There was a problem with building work noise on the first night. At check out the staff member was happy to discount because of this. The staff member dealt with that issue well.
There was one waitress who needed to improve her performance. She placed food on the table without smile or comment ! Other waitresses were smiley and perfectly fine.
Customer service are really good and helpful.
None at all.
The hotel in general was very clean and the staff was willing to help with any questions. My boyfriend and I spent most of the night in the lobby bar. It was dim lit and cozy with big windows to watch the snow fall. The room was nice and for the price, spacious ( bathroom pretty big also).
The only thing is that the restaurant is damn expensive. We just weren't looking to spend 50 Euros on Lamb on a Monday. I do have to say its not necessarily their fault as the whole town has 1 gas station and maybe 1 pizza place??
WiFi is free although it was written opposite.
Nice location Classy ambience
Not a good place to watch northern lights as there is a mountain rite next to the hotel and that "may" block a better view.
- huge and delicious breakfast and christmas-dinner - nice and helpful staff
Very average condition but warm and comfortable, lacks the personality and friendlyness of the guest houses
close to the swimming pool
the comfort is fine but most rooms are located in motel-like extension buidings on the back of the main building
We went off season and the hotel was extremely quiet. It was very clean and the staff were friendly. Good choice for breakfast in the morning.
The restuarant was very expensive so we ended up going to the restuarant down the road for dinner.
The location for onward travel east.
We paid for a superior room. Having stayed in a standard room at the Icelandair Vik, that was spacious, airy, modern, had a wet room shower room, our expectations of a Superior room at a hotel in the same chain were high but we were to be extremely disappointed. It would seem that the superior rooms, that are about forty euros pet night more, give you more space than a standard room and a view of the mountains. View of the car park more like, and the windows are filthy in any case. The room configuration is different to a standard room but I would question that the overall floor area in a Superior room is meaningfully more. Definitely not worth the extra money. We stayed for two days and upon our return to the hotel, we had fresh towels but the bedding was not made/changed and the bathroom not cleaned. That is unacceptable. We found the staff at the Icelandair Vik more warm. No elevator so this precludes some from enjoying the price premium of the superior rooms. The restaurant only had expensive meal options at circa 4000 isk, the Icelandair Vik had a range of options including a great burger for just over 2000 isk. We ate at the Icelandair Vik but not at Icelandair Klaustur. 400M down the road is a fantastic pizza and burger restaurant with other excellent options, fish, soup etc. This property is overpriced in relation to its newer more modern sister hotel in vik and the superior rooms are seriously overpriced in relation to the standard rooms.
Location was excellent.
Food availability was limited. I had issues with the pillows only one and covered in a sham rather than a pillowcase (scratchy face).
Rooms were a nice size, beds were very comfy (we stayed her for two separate nights and the first room in the annex to the left was nicer than the rooms straight ahead). Staff were friendly, the restaurant was lovely and the chicken was delicious. Wifi is free and the hotel is very quiet and easy to find. Rooms were great, very spacious and heating could be adjusted to suit. Felt safe enough to have a window open even though it was at ground level.
We arrived late and were told we had to eat immediately but polietly, restaurant was very expensive the cheapest dish was around £25 but it was lovely. Walls were extremely thin, we could hear the conversations in the next room.
I'm not sure why we stayed here, rather than all the other places that were available. I guess I wanted to try all the options, but go with the independent hotels, they're a much better value, and the staff and atmospheres are more friendly. The icelandair hotels feel cold and clinical, and everything comes from ikea.
simple modern hotel, good for a stopover
Very good. Food excellent. Excellent food.
Very small nigle, there was no lift to the first floor
We stayed one night at Hotel Klaustur. This is a business-type hotel, so do not expect a homey atmosphere or charm of a smaller establishment. The decor is simple but functional. The staff is efficient, but reserved--again, this is to be expected at a business-oriented hotel. The rooms were quite large compared to other places we stayed. The breakfast is on the expensive side, but was exceptional quality--the best hotel/guest house breakfast we had at any place we stayed. If you need a place to stay in the Klaustur area, then this is a fine place at a fair price.
Proximity to Laki, local walks, waterfalls, Skaftafell. Pleasant restaurant, good breakfast
Stairs to upstairs rooms are tricky for carrying heavy suitcases
Nothing to really complain about bit a bit too expensive for what you get.
Room a bit too small for that price...
Very expensive, even for Iceland. Rooms are very basic.
Superb location and view. Extremely clean room and all facilities we used. Very comfortable bed. Extremely quiet bedroom. Very friendly and efficient staff except in the breakfast dining room. They spoiled the superb efforts of every other staff member.
For some inexplicable reason the staff in the breakfast dining room don't understand that their primary duty is the comfort of their guests. They seem to be focused on their own convenience. The buffet was only partially available at 9:00 a.m. and never replenished. The staff were annoyed that guests expected waffle mix at 9:10 a.m. and failed to deliver it for twenty minutes, then one of the staff members impolitely reminded the guests that the buffet was now closed. He halfway apologized for his rudeness, but the damage was done.
The room was comfortable and clean. The shower area was nice. Location was good
The cost-too expensive for the facilities provided. That you had to pay for Wifi In the room there were 2 coffee sachets and 2 tea bags only No breakfast included. We stayed in places that were just as nice with breakfast included for about 1/3 of the cost. Although the shower area was nice the shower flooded the floor and into the bedroom floor. We would probably not book with this group again unless the cost was more reasonable.
Breakfast Evening meal in hotel restaurant Plenty of parking Close to places of interest
Good base for skaftafell national park
Cleanness and comfortable hotel European level. It has large restaurant and bar and can offer service modern level.
Location isn’t good. It’s standard roadside hotel. Staff was cold as ice. Quality of meals in restaurant was not so good. Lamb steak was cocked from old meat with specific smell of lamb and Arctic char was dryish. Service of the restaurant produced unpleasant impression. The main courses were brought in different time and we were forced to demand re-bring our meals. As positive I could marked that the waitress try to make amends and bring desserts, as compliment.
