Very friendly staff, from check in to check out - very accommodating Close enough to the city, not an issue driving over for dinner and walking around and then coming back. Comfortable and clean rooms. Great breakfast, lots of local options.
- smell of the countryside and fresh air - stunning interior (esp. in the lobby) - cute kitty is wandering around the hotel
- WiFi is available in the lobby only - poor soundproofing
- hot pot - simple, but functional room - comfy beds - black-out curtains - helpful, friendly staff - free wifi but only in lobby - good breakfast - nice shower
- small bathroom - thin walls - no wifi in room - no light at the desk
very friendly hosts. The room. Cosy (family) athmosphere. The owners made us feel like we were at home.
nothing to dislike.
- The location of the guesthouse is very peacefull, in the middle in the nature - The breakfast is extensive, very good and complete - Clean room with private bathroom - Nice hot tub
- No wifi in the rooms
Friendly personal, stayed at side house with kitchenette, clean place, good food at the restaurant
very helpful owners,we had nice quiet room with easy access to car park.close to town but far enough out that we had remote country feel.good base to travel to attractions that are couple of hrs drive away.food was excellent with a lot of home made products.
room very basic but really only staying for a bed not expecting fantastic facilities, but was basic i.e. no kettle, fridge.but hey thats how they do it here and really not that big a deal we thought.
hot tub nice breakfast and (optional) dinner very peaceful, still close to Akureyri
internet only in the public areas -- one router could provide all rooms with the wifi
Beautiful location about 5-7 minutes outside of Akureyri. Comfortable.
Breakfast was okay.
Booking.com's terrible directions to the place. They were completely wrong, got me lost over and over again.
Location, scenery, staff, meals - it was great. I'd definitely go back.
Great place, nice staff, very polite, efficient and friendly staff. Nice location in itself. Clean rooms with good beds/mattresses.
Location was very hard to find. Not on any GPS. Hotel information did not have co-ordinates. Took us an hour for a five minute drive. WiFi was restricted to few places. No balcony in the room. Only tiny ventilation windows, one of which could be opened slightly.
Location, near Akureyri but rural, in lovely valley. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Roast lamb! Pleasant lounge area. Hot tub with view. Comfortable beds.
No wifi in rooms.
This one in a calm environment and with good wiew to the mountain.
We Were two days and the cleanliness of the second one was to do the bed and empty garbage, the bathroon they did not even touch it. The wifi only works in the receipt.
Large room, bathroom and shower
Poor Wifi in the evening (too many people connected) / Bad smell of lamb in the reception / Empty shower gel in the shower
Fantastic location overlooking the fjord and mountains. Superb home cooked food and friendly staff.
Wifi didn't always work but they are working on it
The room was quite nice, the bed VERY comfortable and the breakfast was one of the best. We also had dinner at Lamb Inn as well - VERY good and well prepared.
Lovely hosts and surroundings. Enjoyed the warmth, hospitality, and good food!! This was a return visit because we liked it so much the first time and we will stay again!
Karl and the rest of the staff were so amiable and attentive to our needs. This seems to be a family-run operation (even if "family" is just the group of unrelated employees showing incredible teamwork) and that comes through in the service. The farm is in a lovely area south of Akureyri, and sheep are nearby. The breakfast buffet featured lots of homemade options, including delicious rye bread, a sweet cake, paté, and jams. I liked that the bedsheets are hung outside to dry to be eco-friendly, so they were slightly stiff (almost starched) but cozy.
The location is not very convenient to Akureyri - it's quite a drive into the town if you want to dine there, visit the grocery store, or go out for a drink. If you want to be "in" Akureyri, choose another hotel or guesthouse. Our room smelled like a nursing home - stale and old, not clean and fresh. The bathroom wasn't very well-cleaned (hair in the drain, lots of old dust on the fan) and the sink was difficult to use because a shelf was built very low above it. The dinner options were limited and very overpriced for a "farm restaurant" - about $35 for a lamb buffet, and similar prices for fish. I actually chose to eat a day-old Subway sandwich for dinner rather than pay those prices! Internet is only available in the public areas and not the rooms, meaning that you might have to leave your room and walk outside to the lobby area in order to use the WiFi.
The host was kind and available. We stayed there when a party was organized by the owners with a lyric band playing on the stage. It was very amusing!
The most friendly atmosphere living during our Iceland travel. Hot tub and the old farmhouse are both nice high light.
The toilet pump works not so well, but not really affect anything.
Excellent staff and excellent location! The staff will make you feel at home. The food was very delicious. Highly recommended!
Definitely the best hotel we stayed in Iceland! Top marks for everything: 1. The homemade food was delicious! 2. Hospitality and attentive attitude owner-family towards each of guests was unforgettable! 3. Design of the hotel is even better then you can see on photos 4. Specious room with amazing view on fiord 5. Hot tube outside is a bug plus after intense day driving/walking 6. Great location for places "must see" Definitely will recommend to all my friends who want to visit this beautiful country!
Only minus -we'd stay there more then two days! :)
Great location just ten minutes south of Akureyri. About an hour from Lake Myvatn, Dimmu Borgir and town of Husavik; two hours from Dettifoss. The room was clean and spacious, shower was good pressure and temperature. Staff was very friendly and really helped us out by staying up till almost midnight when we were running late for check in. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty- homemade jams, hummus and breads, eggs, cereals, skyr, sandwich fixings and coffee, tea and juice. Lots of pamphlets at the front desk and information about tours and things to do in the area. We just used the inn as a stopover on the way to the Westfjords but I wish we had spent more time here! Would definitely go back and stay here for a few days while exploring the north.
It was like staying as guests of the family. After a boggy walk our muddy clothes were taken away and returned clean and dry. Having explained in advance that we didn't eat meat, four out of five nights the evening meal was fish and we gladly ate out the other evening to enable other guests to sample the famous lamb. Lovely walks from the front door and lots of helpful information and advice for trips further afield. Splendid view down the valley to Akureyri and the fjord with midnight sunsets (nearly sunsets rather) framed by snowy mountains. We were perhaps lucky to have had to book a larger room as all the doubles were taken, as this meant we had plenty of space to relax - although the lounge area was a very pleasant place to sit and to chat to other guests. We would gladly stay again.
Nothing really. We did discover noise came through the ceiling from the function room above but this was not in use during our stay.
