- very friendly and helpfull host with huge knowledge about Iceland and life - beautiful old house with astonishing view - in center of Stykkisholmur - delicious breakfast
friendly and very helpful host, old wooden house with charm and personality (love it or hate it), nice guest-room
difficult to find in the dark (2nd row), bathroom needs more attention, compared to other locations quite expensive
The owner was a wealth of information about Iceland and we enjoyed talking with him.
Good location and the owner was friendly.
Not particularly clean and no towels provided which I don't think is acceptable for £80 a night! Only one bathroom in the whole house. There were no other guests staying when we were there but imagine this becomes a problem when other rooms are occupied. Tiny, uncomfortable shower. No option of breakfast either.
- Heimir, the house's owner, is an endearing host and will happily engage you in wonderful conversations, if you wish. He will give you a great primer on the peninsula, tell you about Iceland's history and music scene, and possibly give you a little bit of his life philosophy. - Location's great. A couple minutes' walk to food (typical fare in this town) and the harbor, and a good launching point for a circle of the peninsula. - Rooms are small and well lit. Our bed was two small beds pushed together, which served us fine. - Free breakfast! Toast, meats, jams, coffee, tea, cookies. - The rate's comparable to other places we stayed.
- We didn't mind this, but the house is quite old and creaky. It's part of the experience.
The host was welcoming and friendly, great conversation, went out of his way to point out the attractions in town and the restaurants. Our room had a great view of the spaceship church and the bay with the islands. Heimir gave us excellent advice about seeing the peninsula as well. Beds were comfortable, clean, and the breakfast was nice as were the tea and cookies when we arrived..a cozy nest with interesting photographs on the wall and books, a real home stay.
Having the bathroom downstairs from the room was a little inconvenient, but it was okay,
The home was comfortable and was located near scenic areas. The owner is a terrific host who has much information about Iceland. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.
only one shared bathroom with toilet
Very nice personal atmosphere. Extra free breakfast service. Great stories.
Very friendly, helpfull host. Nice room
The house is in the second line of houses on the street. There is a small sign, but too small to locate it.
Friendly welcome . Interest and character of this old icelandic house
The small bathroom not really clean nor the kitchen either... The value for money is really poor
You have a good look at the beach and the wonderful church. But only in two rooms. If you have the other rooms you hav'nt good outlooking.
The house is very very dirty! You can't take a shower Ort use the kitchen. It is to expensive for that what find on rooms. Also you didn't become some informations what you can Don,if you are travelling with busses or to go on hiking nearby.
The location was the best feature of the house. On the other hand, the village is quite small and most houses are within the walking distance from the harbour and restaurants.
The bathroom was the most disappointing of all. There is only one toilet for about 8 people, the sink is tiny and none of us used the shower during the morning rush. On the other hand, one can walk to the public swimming pool that has nice facilities and opens very early.
Wonderful location and interesting propriatore.
only one bathroom/wc for 3 or 4 rooms
Host is fun, excentric, gives lots of insight into local and Icelandic affairs in a charming and funny way. Likeable person. The house is rustic, you either like it or not. We did :-)
Bathroom facilities inadequate, price of about 100 Euros a bit on the high side.
Well located in the picturesque village of Stykkisholmur. Good breakfast Genial host.
The location and limited competition = higher than normal cost. One small bathroom for 4 sets of guests rooms can be inconvenient.
Heimir, the owner, surprised us with breakfast and kept is entertained with Stories about the village, Iceland and Life in general. He also gave is a tour of the village from the top of hill - including food recommendations. Thank you!
The house is a little cluttered, but as we were staying at someone's home, it should be the way he likes it.
Although far from five star this was our favourite stay of the 38 nights we had in Iceland.
