Situated in Reykjavik’s old city centre, this family-run property is across the street from Hallgrim’s Church. It offers a communal kitchen, as well as modern and fresh rooms with wooden furnishings.
Score from 173 reviews Excellent
Staff was friendly, the room was nice and comfy, good location.
You can hear alot from the next rooms.
The rooms It was a very cozy Guesthouse Family environment Friendliness Excellent facilities Excellent service I was treated as a VIP Very clean Made new friends (including the owners) Beautiful location I am a Flight Attendant and normally I stay at luxurious hotels, so I was a bit nervous about staying in a guesthouse for the first time in my life. It was the best experience ever, I felt always like I was at home, with my family.
large room - very equiped kitchens - staff kindly.
The room was small but the bed very comfortable. Because we had access to the full kitchen and dining area right outside our room the small room was fine. We were just three rooms sharing a full kitchen and bathroom so we felt very much at home. Perfect if you are interested in preparing your own meals
The owners were extremely accommodating and flexible. We were able to check in early and check out late, they helped us at every step of the way. The rooms are fine, not luxurious by any means but clean and decent. We stayed in a family room with bunk beds. The parents' bed was quite small (more like a full size bed than a queen) but we were fine for the couple of days we were there. There is a shared kitchen for each group of rooms which was really handy for travelling with kids. Also the terrace has a big gas BBQ which guests can use. The location is a bit out of town (it says centre but it's more like the outskirts) but is easily accessed by bus 14 from the city center. The bus doesn't run all night though so this would be something to consider for people relying on public transport. We had small kids with us so it wasn't an issue. There is a small supermarket/convenience store that is open 24 hours, a bakery, a great restaurant nearby, and one of the best public pools in Reyjkavik right across the street. There is also a botanical garden and small zoo, and you can rent bikes from the camping up the street. If you are planning to do activities like these then the location is great. For the price, we were very satisfied and will definitely think of returning here.
There are a few quirks here and there that could influence your time there. The shared kitchen and bathroom are close to each other and can be loud. Our room was right off the kitchen so if people were in there it was hard to sleep. Same would have been in the morning, though we had too much jet lag to be bothered then. That said it did not seem that the hotel attracts a party crowd too often and people tried to be considerate of each other during our stay. If I were to give the hotel a tip, we would have appreciated a little sleeping/not sleeping sign that you could put on the door of your room. At least then other guests know whether the room is occupied and to be quiet. There are a few other small quirks, such as the room next to us had its main light switch in the shared dining room and the locks are simple and not incredibly secure. However all in all we felt these were small enough that we would still choose this hotel for a future stay.
Location, clean, friendly, informative
address is a bit hard for a visitor to find
Friendly and very helpful staff Location Self catering facilities Relaxed
+ Very welcoming and friendly staff + Lovely house in a beautiful setting + Right next to the largest swimming pool and hot pots complex + Very cozy rooms
Very friendly owner and staff. I changed my dates of stay twice and it was no problem at all. Nice café where they serve breakfast. Large swimming pool nearby. There's also a 24/7 "10-11" convenience store.
It would be nice to have some basic food in the kitchen, like sugar, coffee, oil etc.
We had a 6-room to use in 2 and that was really comfortable!
Kitchen not enough clean.
Our hosts and the location.
very friendly, nice people:)
The to property owners spent time with us to welcome us to the city and community. Maps were reviewed and we had lengthy conversations about history, culture and current events. We really enjoyed going to the local thermal pool which is across the street. I would stay there again and recommend it to others!
Very hospitable !!
The quiet location yet very close to town. The use of a fully fitted kitchen with fridge freeze, oven & microwave. The warm & friendly greeting & happy family atmosphere.
The owner provided us (grandmother, mother and daughter) with plenty of tips and information for the various trips we took and for Reykjavik. There was a pentry where we could make our own breakfast and evening tea. Very short distance to a nice (and cheap) bath and beyond that lies sports arenas and the nice bothanic garden. A good area for morning jogging. Simple but priceworthy.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Would've liked fruit on offer for breakfast - otherwise the selection was good.
Fantastic little place with very nice/helpful staff and owners. I really like their breakfast as well! Quite yummy rolls!! They also had good closet space. Everything was super clean. I only wish I were able to stay longer.
Room was small, but very comfortable. I was traveling alone, so I didn't mind.

Nicest place on our way. Very helpful and friendly hosts - helped to plan our route through the country.
Excellent value, way less than nearby Hostel for 2 person room. Least expensive of 4 sites used in Iceland
