Hotel Laxnes  

The host, the food, the clean room, the luxurious bed, the views from my window.

I chose the Hotel Laxnes as it was slightly outside the city so there might have been more of a chance of seeing the Northern Lights. We did get a glimpse of them on our first night (out of 5) but that was it as it was cloudy. The view was spoiled by the light pollution as the hotel is basically a motel next to an illuminated high-road junction and retail area, all lit up!! Our room was a family one. It was basic but clean. For the price we paid through Booking.com it was fine, were I paying the listed price I would have been annoyed! The hotel operates a travel agency for trip booking so they do try and get you interested in various trips. As we had our own car, we didn't need their trips but I suppose anyone without a car would find this useful. It's a only a 10-15 drive into town and being on the main roads, the access to further sights is good. Dining is limited to KFC,Subway or a sports bar, anything other than that, and you're having to go back into the city...or at least at this time of year (April).. Iceland is a fantastically beautifull country but sparsly populated, so when you go further afield, if a hotel, restaurant, bar, cafe, petrol station etc isnt mentioned in a guide book or marked on a map.....there isn't one! so go prepared!

Nice, clean and modern rooms with free wifi.

Breakfast could be better: organisation/space, interior is actually the same as the pub in the evening. Also the range of foods was very limited.

Friendly staff, reasonable price with breakfast, good location: only 15mins drive to City Reykjavik, also easy drive to National Park, Gullfoss and Geysir.

They are very kind to give me a double bed room, but it would be great if they can provide a proper double bed linen for us. :)

A fabulous place to stay - warm, comfortable, clean and with excellent staff. A smallish establishment with a lot of atmosphere.

The reception service, no restaurant for dinner, and have to leave may building to go to room.

Everything was fine, thanks a lot! Those who want to take a horse riding tour, just let them know (2 groups at 10.00 and 14.00)!

Hotel confortevole, comodo per chi percorre la Ring Road, non lontano da Reykjavik e dal Circolo d'oro. Buona e abbondante la colazione.

Wat een onwijs leuk hotel! Dit is echt een aanrader. Personeel is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Kamer zijn schoon en zien er goed uit! Koffie is gratis aan de bar. Leuk hotel, aanrader!

Suite parfaite pour guetter les aurores boréales (nous en avons vu pendant 3 heures le 22/01/2012!!) et vue sur les montagnes. Personnel très serviable 20 mn de bus de Reykjavik Petit déjeuner simple et tres bon Hors spots a 5 mn de l'hôtel Nous y retournerons les yeux fermes !!

Hreint og fallegt hótel. Vel tekið á móti okkur við komu. Sanngjarnt verð sem er tilbreyting :) Fallega innréttað hótel og við nutum þess að vera hjá ykkur. Komum örugglega aftur.

Hæg þjónusta á barnum þótt við værum bara fimm þar og sami starfsmaður var við afgreiðslu við brottför daginn eftir. Ég heyrði hann lesa upp fyrir komumann, gestalista hótelsins og tel það með öllu óviðeigandi. Komumaður var að leita að einhverju ákveðnu herbergi sem einhverjir sem hann þekkti hefðu verið í, en starfsmaður las upp gestina hvern af öðrum. Mitt álit er að það sé trúnaðarmál hvar maður gistir þó svo að einhver komi af götunni til að spyrja eftir fólki. Vill bara nefna þetta til að þetta komi ekki fyrir aftur. Lýsing mætti vera betri á herberjum og baði.

Heel ruime, schone, nette kamer met mooi uitzicht. De prijs/kwaliteitverhouding is meer dan oké! Als uitvals basis naar Reykjavik en/of de Gouden Cirkel ideaal.( Je stap voor de deur op de bus als je wilt)

De directe omgeving rond het hotel is wat minder. Je zit aan de rand van een winkel/industrie terein. Omdat het hotel dicht aan de weg ligt, heb je wel wat geluid van verkeer. Perssonlijk vond ik het niet luid genoeg om storend te zijn, maar toch...
