I really liked the spa and the restaurant and the area around the bar with the little fireplace!

It was a beautifully designed hotel, and the accommodations were perfect for two adults and two children. The staff were accommodating--gave us breakfast even though we woke up late, after it was over. We had thought it was near the international airport, and had booked it so we could arrive at midnight and just walk to the hotel. However, it's near the domestic airport, 45 minutes from the international airport. It was our mistake, but it would be nice if they could make that clearer in the description.

Close to the city and easy transport to Keflavik. Excellent restaurant Great little shop Very helpful staff We actually thought this hotel was at the international airport, not knowing the location of either. However the location was fine and transport easy in the end

Excellent cafe/restaurant. Spotlessly clean and tidy. A great place to stay if you want the spa treatment. Free carpark. Although the hotel is alongside the airport runway it is isolated from the city and not near the domestic (and Greenland) check in terminal which is on the other side of the airport. Some of the town hotels may be a better bet for easier access and proximity to the facilities of the city. There is a shuttle to town but very infrequent. A town bus never seemed to appear despite being scheduled to call at the hotel.

The room size and bathroom size were excellent. Great view the city airport. Quiet location. Excellent breakfast buffet selection and early start. Lack of towels in the bathroom. Limited dining room menu. Inconsistent attitude and service of dining room staff.

The hotel offers free internet and the lobby area is quite nice. The staff is probably well-meaning but slow and unaware of what they are supposed to do --- it took ages to get checked in, port was served in a wine glass at the bar etc. While the lobby area is nice, the rooms are quite dated --- especially the bathrooms (with no bath, only a shower). Lastly, the hotel is quite a walk from the city centre, so taxi bills will make it even more expensive for you --- all in all, I found it terribly overpriced for what is offered.

The hotel lobby is done in 60's decor and is quite stunning. From the outside, you'll wonder what you're doing there but once you step in...it's great. They have a very nice menu, the rooms are nicely sized with beautiful bathrooms, but most important to me, the front desk staff was wonderful! They were so pleasant and helpful as we were stuck in Iceland due to hurricane Irene in New York.

We flew Icelandair to the usa and took advantage of the lay over option to get a taste of Iceland. We arrived at 6am and the check in staff were very good to us- we had a room by 10 after a lovely breakfast. We liked the inside of the hotel design, and we were grateful that you put an extra bed in the room for our youngest child. I hope you make lots of money so you can redo the exterior!

Breakfast was excellent, on the expensive side but a wide selection. Room was very clean, staff helpful especially the travel agent. I choose this location as it was near the domestic airport and we had a flight out in the morning. The hotel is on the wrong side of the airport. It was a 1200kr taxi ride. Another factor was the description as being near Perlan. Again, the hotel is on the wrong side to walk there. Shuttles run to the City Center infrequently. If the hotel offered free domestic airport and Perlan shuttles as well as more frequent downtown shuttles it would be a good higher- priced choice. As is, I would not stay there again unless already planning to rent a car.

I enjoyed the convenience of the hotel. Their new restaurant is very welcome. However, I paid for a Deluxe Room and found it to be small for the price I paid.

The value of the hotel was great, although possibly due to on-going construction. They are in the process of finishing a complete renovation of the property (originally scheduled to finish the week before my visit (early June 2011), now actually finishing about a week after). The construction caused some disruption. I assume the rate was artificially low while I was there and WiFi was tossed in for free to all guests as a form of compensation. Adjacent to the domestic airport, the hotel is a short walk South of the BSI bus terminal and a slightly longer walk South of the City Center. No need to use public transportation or taxis during our stay other than to/from Keflavik Airport. Also adjacent to the park around Perlan. Despite proximity to the domestic airport, sound proofing was sufficient that my wife and I never heard a plane take off while inside the hotel. Friendly, helpful front desk staff.

Helpful staff, comfortable beds, good breakfasts, interesting though not central location In the process of a major refurbishment so at the moment a bit disappointing. When it is finished we think it will be great. Location was quite far out of town and away from shops etc. More shuttle buses to town should be provided.

breakfast there was a renovation project ongoing so was very noisy and many of the services weren't available and that was bad because I picked this hotel for the pool and massage and spa and it didn't have any of that. I also picked it because there was a shuttle to the town but it was very limited in when it went and where it went- not to the main shopping street. The first room I was given was dirty and the thermostat was broken. The second room was nicer but had all the construction noise and hadn't been well cleaned- there were pills on the floor from a prior guest.

Hotel was partly under reconstruction, to be ready early June. After that the accessibility will be better. The (temporaririly) restaurant had too small capacity during breakfast. Hopefully will be better if the new restaurant opens after the reconstruction.

During the last 2 year, I've stayed here, alone ore with friends, 4 times. I return to this hotel, because I'm satisfied. But this time... Me and my son (7 year) my friend and her son (8 year) arrived her May 1th in the evening, and we arrived into a mess! We came to a hotel that was in the middel of a renovation! No acces to the pool - we promised the boys that we would go bathing in the pool every day - and they were - as you can understand - wery disappointed! And we were not the only one complaining about that.. We booked a "poet room" and we got a regular room. We switch room, and my friends got wrong room again... When we checked out on wednesday, we had a really bad experience with the staff.. But that is an other, long story....

Blue Lagoon spa. Almost no walk from Hotel. Shuttle bus for sight seeing comes surely in front of entrance. Except sleeping time, taking off and landing of airplanes would be noisy if you are nervous. (Case of my children.) Inconvenient for enjoying local dinner in city center.

Fair location, but not within easy walking distance to town. The tourist advisor in the store next to the receptionist was excellent and gave us a gerat deal on a rental as well as great advice for our two day stay in town. Breakfast was not included, expensive and then not all that good once we had paid for it. Staff a little cold and could have been more helpful.

Very good, 8.5
Score from 81 reviews
“It was clean, comfortable, in a perfect location - and most of all - it was quiet. It had all the necessities a traveller could need + additional space of an apartment compared to a small rooms Reykjavik hotel usually offer. Adjustable radiators are a very very important thing during the winter time as well ! Also, Reykjavik hotels in many cases are situated above or very near to night-clubs or pubs which makes it almost impossible to sleep there during the weekends. I stayed in Welcome Appartments Lindargata 38 apartment, and it has a perfect location - 3 minutes from Harpa conference hall, just around the corner from the main shopping street from one hand and the seashore from the other. Still there are no clubs or pubs next-door. The price was very good as well. I was extremely sattisfied with this choice !!! I will go for their appartments also next time and will not even bother with cheking the hotels !! even the self-chek-in is very convenient !!” Kairi, Tallinn |
