Score from 5 reviews Good
Landlady was very nice and helpful. Location is only a 10 minute walk to centre of town. Parking is easy all around and nearby. I liked breakfast which was great for meeting the other guests. Landlady said they were improving the shower areas etc. Generally a comfortable little guesthouse. Nice back garden to sit in, everything is very handy. Supermarket in next street. Pubs, shops and main attractions all a short walk.
Wifi was sporadic on top floor, but not a great issue as was good downstair.
Small rooms Very noisy No privacy Very basic breakfast, worst I have seen in Iceland
Central location helpful staff
no light working in bathroom no key on arrival
Wifi worked good. Bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly. Altogether very good value for money and would recommend it.
A candle was left unattended overnight instead of a lightbulb replacement in the bathroom. Although it looked perfectly safe I still don't agree with this. Lightbulbs must be replaced immediately when blown and candles must never be left unattended.
One of the things that make Iceland a great place to visit other than the spectacular scenery is the friendliness of the locals. Loki guesthouse was no exception and I was made to feel very welcome. Its central location is perfect and it is great value for money in what can be an expensive city to visit. Totally recommend to other travellers,
The wifi was a bit unpredictable in the bedroom at times. Signal was at its best in the kitchen and dining room.
Flexible with breakfast and check-in/out
Not on the map of the Flybus+ drop off list. Shared bathroom not clearly stated
I stayed at Loki for a week and felt absolutely at home there. It was very quiet (apart from the church bells during the day), and I enjoyed sitting in the back garden. The location was excellent! Right next to the hallgrímskirkja and cafe Loki, near the main shopping street, a quick walk into the centre of town and the harbour, and very close to the bus terminal. The free breakfast was one of the highlights of the place. Food in Reykjavik is very expensive, and the free breakfast was very filling. Also, the staff didn't mind me making an extra sanwich for lunch which saved me a lot of money over a week. The staff super friendly and were only around in the morning, so I never felt like I was in someone elses house. It was very comfortable and perfect for an independent traveller. Would definitely come back.
I had room #3, which had a very heavy sliding door. It was quite noisy every time I went in and out of the room. The staff were only on site in the morning, so over the course of the week I saw a lot of guests come in very confused about which room they were in. I didn't have a problem figuring it out but got a little annoyed that I had to show so many people how the system worked and basically show them around the house.
The staff contacted our car rental agency, using his personal phone and computer. Central location made it easy to connect with other people and places we needed to go. No problems with hall bathroom -- at most 2 other rooms shared it. Breakfast was sufficient. Lots of free parking at nearby church.
Several people arriving had no way to connect with the staff for a key, etc. Worked fine for our arrival in the middle of the night, but needs to have a working phone in house to contact staff, call for emergencies, etc.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is very close to numerous tourist spots in town. My 2nd floor room had balcony.
The room was tiny - little more than the size of 2 small beds. The breakfast was below average in comparison to those I've had in similar guest houses in Reykjavik.
Great big and clean rooms Nice garden Clean and big kitchen Good location, in the center
The atmosphere, location, the ability to make your own breakfast (early start to Kjölur bus to the north...), the patio back of the house, the price.
A very clean guesthouse perfectly situated in the heart of Reykjavik. Wifi available throughout and a lovely outside seating area (weather allowing). Lastly, the friendliest and helpful staff you could possibly wish for!
Very noisy, no privacy, bathrooms pretty much in the kitchen where everybody eats breakfast, very basic and cheap breakfast.
Fantastic location 200m from the landmark church of Reykjavic and 200m from Laugavegur. Bed was very confortable. Free wifi.
Isolation of the room door (it was like having no door). Shared bathroom not that nice. Staff helpful but you must spend your time asking questions, they'll not come to you explaining things (wifi, breakfast, etc....) It barely worth the price. (dont expect a 4*, for 115e you got 3* or less in Iceland, this looks expensive but this is regular price for Iceland)
Within a half block of the Hallgrimskirkja church and an easy 10 minute walk to the bus station. The room we had was sparse, but very comfortable. The other rooms we saw were outstanding. We had to leave early to catch a flight, but the host showed us where everything was so we were able to get a good breakfast before leaving.
We were on the third floor of a steep staircase, but it wasn't that bad.
A basic breakfast was provided and we were able to fix our own at our own timetable. Met other guest from other countries. The room was comfortable. Just around the corner from the Leifer Erickson hotel where we were able to pick up the bus for our excursions.
We didn't receive the e-mail that provided the entry code to the house. Another guest let us in. Sent an e-mail while waiting and they responded quickly.
Location was very central but not noisy. Quite a nice breakfast.
We stayed 3 nights and didn't see a staff member (apart from a girl preparing breakfast) in all that time. A fellow guest told us just to go in. We didn't have our beds made, bins emptied or towels changed the whole time. Yet the website boasts a concierge and 24 hour reception. Far from it.
Very good situation
There was no staff when we arrive, and we had difficulties to get our key for the room
location was really good
a bit impersonal
The location was great.
I needed earplugs to sleep because of poor sound isolation.
The location was just close enough to down town to walk in 5 minutes, but far enough away to skip the weekend night crowds. My wife and I loved the location. The manager, Marcus, is a great guy and very helpful to us. With not being on-site but for a few hours a day, he was helpful and just a phone call away to help with anything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.
Big table to have breakfast at. It is right in the middle of downtown area
Went to get cash to pay, couldn't find the dude when i got back. Next day dude was there, said payment was taken from credit card, so i ended up with a fist full of cash at the end of my trip in the wrong currency. Also there are simply nicer guesthouses for that price
great location near main tourist area. clean modern rooms
no staff in building
Location is excellent - a few doors away from Reykjavik's cathedral - and is situated on a quiet side street. We very much appreciated the quiet for sleeping.
