It was a good hotel that met all of our needs. It was in a good location and ideally suited for the city centre. We were out almost all of the time either within the city or exploring the local area so probably didn't exploit all of the facilities to the full. In contrast with other hotels I researched the price was very reasonable (especially for Iceland which is notoriously expensive). No negatives to report. I didn't use the restaurant or other facilities that may have been on offer but the staff were very good in helping and guiding us for our time out of the hotel.

Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Would recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues. Doors and window to patio did not open properly; some peeling paint on window.

Nice and friendly staff. You are sure of what you get. I have stayed there every time i come to Reykjavík in more than 20 years... :-). very close-by nice restaurant. Breakfast not as interesting as previously, for example not later than in january, although same price.

Location in the centre of town. Reception staff were very helpful and kind. Small room and old furniture including 20 years old TV. Too much noise through thin walls.

The staff were very helpful throughout; always assisting with tour bookings, buses and umbrellas. It's in a great, quiet location, very close to the cool bars, cafes and restaurants. Thought perhaps our room was at the lower end of a 4 star hotel rating,(maybe 3.5) but it was very comfortable and always clean.

Excellent location as close to shops and resturants. Other reviews of Reykjavik City mention noise on Fridays and Saturday's - not an issue at Odinsve. Very comfortable room, comfy bed and cosy quilts. Top floor room with excellent views towards Church. Reception staff very happy to coordinate trips and arrange restaurant bookings. Minor gripes. Breakfast is typical continental breakfast, so used hotel for early start trips on two mornings for convenience. Preferred to use cafe located across the road from hotel on the other days. A chest of drawers would have been useful.

Excellent staff at Reception. Always willing to help and advise in a very friendly, professional manner. Location is very good. Facilities are more 3 star than 4 star. Our room had a small, basic bathroom that lacked some simple things such as it had no shelve for storage. Hotel offered no Lounge Bar to meet friends. Perhaps the revamp of the restaurant currently being undertaken will offer such facilities.

Good location. Excellent room with separate sitting area. Most of the reception staff were very helpful, but there was some variability! Room could do with some updating. Breakfast was limited (but restaurant still being refurbished - this was due to have been completed before we arrived).

Friendly staff who did as much as they could to help out with the problems we faced. This was supposed to be a luxury trip for my wifes 50th birthday and we were given a room with a loud constant hum. There was no restaurant/bar as it was being refurbished this meant that workmen were drilling all day. A water pipe was cut by workmen and so no water in our room. Hotel moved us to one of their apartments which we were delighted with but it was above a nightclub and next to a prison!! No sleep until 4am every night. Satellite TV in apartment only had limited scandanavian channels and hotel didnt help with retuning. Please also note there is no parking at this hotel..you have to pay for meters outside if you can find a space. This hotel is not a 4 star more like 2. It should have been closed for their refurbishment rather than charge full price for something that we couldnt appreciate! Not happy

The hotels has a very central location. We were with 2 adults and 1 child of 10 and had a nice room with 3 beds. In generall the hotel rooms are old fashioned. The shower needed an upgrade. The showerhead missed parts though it still functioned. The breakfast is 11 euro pp and very basic.

My friend and I both had single rooms on the first floor over the New Year period which were cosy yet ample in space and modern design. They were quiet, well heated and the in-room kettle and fridge were invaluable for early morning and late night teas, coffees and snacks. The shower was gloriously hot and we did not mind the sulfur at all. The bed, a double, was like sinking into a warm marshmallow each night and the linens and duvet were equally wonderful. The whole hotel, small and intimate was a pleasure to come "home" to, be it the lobby fire on a snowy evening or the forever helpful and attentive staff. We did not use the restaurant but did have breakfast one morning. The food was fresh and satisfying and if you have a hearty morning appetite you would be well filled for a resonable price. What made our stay 100% perfection was the hotel's location. Easily walkable to everything you want to see and do in Reykjavik, but more so because returning to the hotel throughout the day was never a chore due to this proximity. There is a small supermarket around the corner to fill your fridge with cheese and meat and bread and a wonderful cafe right across the road. The tours come to pick you up but even the bus terminal is a pleasant stroll. This is certainly where I would stay again and would recommend highly as a very safe choice.

We arrived at 1.20 in the morning and there was someone who took care of us. Staff were polite and competent; they will contact the excursion coanies for you if you need to confirm/ change your trips. Room facilities include kettle, coffee, tea, etc. and a small fridge; wi-fi free without password. Tv was a bit old fashioned but there are a few British channels like itv and skynews. Bathroom is not very large: shower only. Breakfast was good with a reasonable variety of food. The 3 frakkar, a famous typical Icelandic restaurant, is only 3 minutes away. Recommended.

Central locattion, friendliness of the staff, smart clean Scandinavian style, comfort of the bed and views from the top floor rooms. Hard to find, the address from the booking.com webstite did not tie up with the location, the hotel is just off the street given in the address and not at number 7 as on the webpage printout from booking.com - it was misleading and we spent ages driving around Reykjavik centre asking directions looking for it.

Great location, staff could not do enough to help. The wonderful soft bed and warm duvet after a cold day outside. Residential location, quiet yet just one block away from the main street. Steaming hot shower without water saving. Breakfast is just ok given the price, but then again everything cost more in Iceland. It was continental, but there was enough and with good variety.

The central location on a quiet residential street was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. The bathroom was small and the shower in particular was not large enough.

Very helpful staff that would, unsolicited, make calls and arrangements to help you out; great location in downtown Reykjavik; small but comfortable and functional rooms, good breakfast; price is not cheap but reasonable given the quality and location of the hotel and general costs in Iceland This is a bit picky, but the rooms were very warm even with the radiators off and generally there is only a very small window which can be opened to cool the room.

The hotel staff was warm, friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was ideal, as other reviewers have said, close to everything but not on a loud street. Our room, a deluxe double, was lovely and large by European standards, and it had fantastic views. And the beds were so comfortable we would go back just to sleep in them again!

There was not one hot breakfast item. My room was little bigger than a closet. I went to turn the TV on and the clicker had the batteries taped in. There were only about 6 working channels. Can't they have bottles of shampoo and soap instead you have to tear open packages with your teeth

“I travel a lot both on business and for pleasure. Most months I´m twice a month in Reykjavík and most of the time I stay at the Hilton or the Grand Hotel, which are both very nice hotels. But this time they were both fully booked so I decided to see what else was available. I found Rey apartment and I have to say, that I am not sure I will ever go back to my former choices of accommodations when visiting Reykjavík. Rey apartment has a beautiful, clean, modern studio apartment. Everything is newly restored with every luxury that I need. Even the smallest apartment which I stayed in had a sofa, small kitchen, nice bathroom and I must say the beds are amazing. And on top of that it had a large TV with hundreds of TVs channels and most of all, FREE INTERNET SURVICE!! Rey apartments are smack down town but still it was very easy to find parking spaces and most of all because it was so downtown that I hardly needed the car. The staff was very helpful and willing to assist and making changes like I needed to do. First class in every way!! B. Hilmars” Berglind, Reyðarfjörður |
