Good location, friendly staff, comfortable room and wonderful bed linen! A pity that breakfast was extra and expensive for what it was but there are plenty of places nearby as alternatives

Excellent service. Room n°214 (single) was a bit small and the shower was getting old.

Location. Nice bright room with great views of the city and harbour. . The front desk staff who were really pleasant and went out of their way to be helpful. The warmth of our room and the towels.. There is a nice coffee shop just across the road. The bar/restraint was disappointing. Breakfast was uninviting and sad. Dinner was at best poor and for me personally uneatable and expensive. Staffs in this area, unlike the rest of the hotel, were unhelpful. My view would be sleep here but dine elsewhere You need to bring your own toiletries as those provided are completely inadequate.

Upon checking in, the hotel attendant informed us that our room was not yet ready, and acknowledged that they could not accommodate us with our request for a deluxe room "with a view" on the first night. They offered to upgrade us to a junior suite after the first night, which we gratefully accepted. As it turned out, the first room was very nice - we even had a view of the Hallgrimskirkja - so I was quite impressed with how the attendant went out of her way to accommodate our request. The morning breakfast was enjoyable but was very repetitive. It would be nice to see more variety in the food they offer.

Location is the primary benefit for staying here. Close to city centre but still quiet location. Resaurant and bar never open other than for continental breakfast and the New Year Eve dinner for 5 day period over New Year period. Nothing to suggest basic room service available or that basics such as coffee could be provided. Although to be fair - all of these are available in the very close bars and restaurants. Room was comfortable but not overly so, a lot of noise could be heard in other rooms and from door locks despite occupants not being rowdy. This meant early awakenings from other guests leaving and returning to rooms earlier than ourselves.

My friend and I both had single rooms on the first floor over the New Year period which were cosy yet ample in space and modern design. They were quiet, well heated and the in-room kettle and fridge were invaluable for early morning and late night teas, coffees and snacks. The shower was gloriously hot and we did not mind the sulfur at all. The bed, a double, was like sinking into a warm marshmallow each night and the linens and duvet were equally wonderful. The whole hotel, small and intimate was a pleasure to come "home" to, be it the lobby fire on a snowy evening or the forever helpful and attentive staff. We did not use the restaurant but did have breakfast one morning. The food was fresh and satisfying and if you have a hearty morning appetite you would be well filled for a resonable price. What made our stay 100% perfection was the hotel's location. Easily walkable to everything you want to see and do in Reykjavik, but more so because returning to the hotel throughout the day was never a chore due to this proximity. There is a small supermarket around the corner to fill your fridge with cheese and meat and bread and a wonderful cafe right across the road. The tours come to pick you up but even the bus terminal is a pleasant stroll. This is certainly where I would stay again and would recommend highly as a very safe choice.

The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the rooms warm. The location was good for the city, quiet but close to amenities. I wouldn't class this hotel as a 4 star, it was a little tired for that. Perhaps a good 2/3 in the uk.

We arrived at 1.20 in the morning and there was someone who took care of us. Staff were polite and competent; they will contact the excursion coanies for you if you need to confirm/ change your trips. Room facilities include kettle, coffee, tea, etc. and a small fridge; wi-fi free without password. Tv was a bit old fashioned but there are a few British channels like itv and skynews. Bathroom is not very large: shower only. Breakfast was good with a reasonable variety of food. The 3 frakkar, a famous typical Icelandic restaurant, is only 3 minutes away. Recommended.

The room was very spacious and comfortable, with a separate sitting area. There is totally reliable free Wi-Fi. We had lots of large windows with lovely views of the city and the lake in the distance. The bath was small by U.S. standards, but it was a private bath, not shared as in some of the GuestHouses. The hotel is in easy walking distance from shopping, dining, museums, performance halls and transportation. The front desk staff spoke perfect Englisha and were always friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

A lovely and pleasant surprise! Came to town to see the Northern Lights. Did research on the web for the best combination of luxury, location, amenities and price. This hotel won and was a definite payoff! Staff all spoke English and were go-out-of-your-way helpful to discuss, make reservations, draw maps and otherwise be helpful. For example, we got a great recommendation on the front desk girl's favorite pizza joint which was only a few blocks away..and it was superb!. And also a dinner tip for a great restaurant that serves local fresh fish...again, superb! Would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend this hotel. The breakfast buffet was nice although perhaps a bit pricey. But a great way to start the day. We had a room on the 4th floor that had a lovely corner view and a balcony....perfect! These European style showers take some getting used to but when in Rome....

Central locattion, friendliness of the staff, smart clean Scandinavian style, comfort of the bed and views from the top floor rooms. Hard to find, the address from the booking.com webstite did not tie up with the location, the hotel is just off the street given in the address and not at number 7 as on the webpage printout from booking.com - it was misleading and we spent ages driving around Reykjavik centre asking directions looking for it.

Great location, staff could not do enough to help. The wonderful soft bed and warm duvet after a cold day outside. Residential location, quiet yet just one block away from the main street. Steaming hot shower without water saving. Breakfast is just ok given the price, but then again everything cost more in Iceland. It was continental, but there was enough and with good variety.

The central location on a quiet residential street was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. The bathroom was small and the shower in particular was not large enough.

Very helpful staff that would, unsolicited, make calls and arrangements to help you out; great location in downtown Reykjavik; small but comfortable and functional rooms, good breakfast; price is not cheap but reasonable given the quality and location of the hotel and general costs in Iceland This is a bit picky, but the rooms were very warm even with the radiators off and generally there is only a very small window which can be opened to cool the room.

Location was great and our two bedroom apartment through the hotel was well laid out and located. Beds were very comfortable. On Saturday night a nearby club had poundingly loud music until about 3 A.M., wish we had known about that in advance.

The hotel staff was warm, friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was ideal, as other reviewers have said, close to everything but not on a loud street. Our room, a deluxe double, was lovely and large by European standards, and it had fantastic views. And the beds were so comfortable we would go back just to sleep in them again!

“It was clean, comfortable, in a perfect location - and most of all - it was quiet. It had all the necessities a traveller could need + additional space of an apartment compared to a small rooms Reykjavik hotel usually offer. Adjustable radiators are a very very important thing during the winter time as well ! Also, Reykjavik hotels in many cases are situated above or very near to night-clubs or pubs which makes it almost impossible to sleep there during the weekends. I stayed in Welcome Appartments Lindargata 38 apartment, and it has a perfect location - 3 minutes from Harpa conference hall, just around the corner from the main shopping street from one hand and the seashore from the other. Still there are no clubs or pubs next-door. The price was very good as well. I was extremely sattisfied with this choice !!! I will go for their appartments also next time and will not even bother with cheking the hotels !! even the self-chek-in is very convenient !!” Kairi, Tallinn |
