“ The rooms were very spacious, clean, and classy. We especially liked the old hardwood floors and crown moulding. The food was also very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They let us drop our bags off early and were very accomodating. ”

Good location When we showed up at 2pm we had to call number from the door and wait for somebody to come over, they had no record of our booking so had to call somebody else, while we were waiting... Then we were led to a dirty building which looked like its in a middle of refurbishment and very outdated, we were assign quite nice room but it wasn't cleaned after previous guests! So they had to give us other one, much smaller and less attractive... Too be fair room was clean, rest of the building quite disgusting. And the breakfast wasn't served in the room as advertised but we got voucher for a bakery, when we got there woman had no idea what we are after and she couldn't seek much English either so again we waited 10 minutes while she was calling somebody to ask what we should get for that voucher- which ended up being cup of coffee and the cheapest ham and cheese sandwich they had, we asked for some juice but they said its not included! And all this for 152 euro a night... Worst accommodation we stayed in years!

I liked the location. For the cost 200 euros a night this was a very poor choice. Ther a other nic guest houses in town that cost less. The room that we stayed in, number 9, had no window and was very small. There was a broken TV from some prior era on the wall. The bed was very uncomfortable and the entire facility very tired and worn. The hall rug was filthy, probably never had been cleaned. Part of the building was literally vacant with broken windows and a shutter that banged all night. The only good thing was the locate.

The location No lobby, Nobody in attendance, went to next door restaurante to get key and pay bill in advance, nobody to answer questions.Very dirty carpet throughout lobby and staircase, very dark and small room, balcony with dirty glasses and cigarette butts, no soap, no shampoo, no hairdryer, no reception for check in or check out, We checked out early, nobody to leave keys with, left a paper at the front door saying we left keys inside the room, went back on Sunday at 2pm to make sure they knew we had left, nobody at guesthouse , even the restaurant was shut.

The price and location were excellent. There was a tourist information center only 1 block away and Gray bus line excursions only 1 block away plus a lot of restaurants and shops. There's a restaurant just below the guesthouse that serves very good food but very expensive. I had no idea how expensive Iceland can be for everything. Great value for the money and a very simple place. You can walk to all the places of interest downtown from the hotel. The staff although very nice were not helpful or hardly ever around. I had emailed I would be a late arrival and they did reply by email and give me a code to get into the guest house. The entrance was a bit hard to find and is located just to the right of the PIsa restaurant door. Another guest helped me to get in and she stated it had been hard to find anyone working there. I went up to my room number and they had left a key in the door. No security at all but this does not seem to be a problem in Iceland. Then for 1.5 days I couldn't find anyone to check in with nor did they come look for me. I finally went into the restaurant and found someone who said 'oh you can check in with me". I was up daily at 8am and no one comes to work until about 11am so I was on my own to find what I needed. Also I had not preplanned my excursions and I assumed I could use their staff to call the excursion companies for me but since no one was hardly working I missed out on excursions because I did not have a phone or know who to call on the brochures I had been looking at. You have to place those calls often the night before because people in Iceland are not up early and working. Many things did not open until 10am or even 11am. Anyway I soon realized to go to the excursion offices myself and book things myself the night before and wished I had done better planning and not have thought I would get help at the hotel. Only other problem was loud music every night from a nightclub next door but the music seemed to stop by 11 pm and I had used ear plugs.

The owner and staff were outstanding, it was handy to have the Italian restaurant co located, great food at reasonable prices. The guest house is a little dated and could do with a fresh make over, which I understand the owner is planning in the future. It was a pity that breakfast is not served in the restaurant in the winter, we were given a voucher to use at the bakery next door, the voucher value for the continental breakfast was basic.

The staff were warm and welcoming and the rooms lovely with hard wooden floors and seemed fairly recently renovated. We also had friends arriving after 1am and the staff were very accommodating and gave the keys for my friends to pass on when they arrived.

The owner of the hotel was very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and I liked its bright colours, the bed was really comfortable. The location is excellent! It´s true that it was a little bit noisy at night but I liked the central location and as I was tired, I managed to fall asleep quickly. The best value for money. You have to call in advance if you want to check-in when the restaurant is not open. (the reception is in the italian restaurant downstairs)

Very friendly owner. The room was nice and clean when I arrived. Comfortable bed. Fantastic restaurant downstairs (won awards). A desk in the room would be nice. Overall, for the price: this guesthouse is fantastic.

The location of the Pisa Guesthouse is ideally located downtown close to the harbor and main shopping area for tourists. The manager and staff are friendly and cooperative. They all speak English and would engage you in conversation. The restaurant located on the first floor provides good food and service for lunch and dinner. The Pisa Guesthouse is very old and in need of repairs. The building was built in 1904 and has landmark status. The owner/manager said that because of this status the needed repairs and upgrades are impossible to do at this time because special permits are needed to do the work. This was the rational and excuse given as to the reason why there was no cable television and no internet service in the guestrooms. There was a old, bulky television set from about the 1980's that didn't work. It hung from the wall and you could hit your head on it if you weren't careful. You could only connect to the internet with a laptop if you went downstairs in the restaurant or back room. However, this area was not always open and available as dinner was being prepared and served. This area was locked off to guests during the night. The rugs are thread bare and need replacement as well as the bedding and room furniture. The rooms are very tiny.

Location is one of the best in Reykjavik city. There are so many institutions near this hotel, tour company desk, shopping street, old port, bus terminal, bank, restaurants, etc. The hotel staff is so kind, that I could enjoy staying during my vacation.Last day of my stay, I must go to the bus terminal to the ariport early morning at 5:00 AM (5minites on foot), the hotel staff made my breakfast and put it in front of my room door. No elevator, Not 24 hour open, If you arrive midnight, you had better inform your late check in to this hotel staff. If you stay on Friday night and your room locates on the street side, the noise might float out of the building next this gust house. My room locates the other side, there are no problem.
