Hotel Olafsvik

The staff were very helpful when present. Our requests were quickly and efficiently dealt with.

We stayed outside the main season - all hotel facilities had closed - there were no staff permanently on the premises. We had to go and seek someone out at a local shop on arrival to get the hotel opened. It is our opinion that this hotel should have shut at the end of August. If it is going to stay open it should offer service or state on the booking that no services will be available and price adjusted. We stayed in 4 hotels in Iceland; this was the most expensive and had by far the least service. There was very little information about local tourist attractions.

It was a functional hotel and the only one in town - it could do with some updating.

A bit drab inside - it could do with some decorating.

Friendly staff, convenient location

Extremely expensive, very poor value for money. Booking.com advertised rooms without breakfast for €79 vs. With breakfast and bathroom for €148... except that all rooms included breakfast - we'd have picked the cheaper room if we'd known that. Additionally, I was surprised to see a "mid-tier" hotel with no bars of soap, and no shampoo, etc. Meals are expensive compared to other restaurants in the area. Internet access is only available on the ground floor. The tv is extremely small, and has poor quality picture.

Good location, very spacious simple but comfortable rooms, good breakfast.

The Tourist Office were most helpful in recommending alternative trips/activities as we were very dissapointed to discover that the whale watching trips no longer operate from Olafsvik.

We stayed in the apartments which have a small kitchen but very little in the way of utensils for cooking.

Entgegen der Angaben auf der booking.com Seite war das Frühstück im Preis bereits inbegriffen, was uns sehr positiv überrascht hat. Ebenfalls entgegen der Buchung von einem Doppelzimmer mit Gemeinschaftsbad haben wir ein Doppelzimmer mit privatem Bad (ohne Aufpreis) erhalten - war der Aufsteller!

Wegen der abgelegenen Lage und der "Monopolstellung" im Dorf (einziges Hotel) etwas überhöhte Preise auf der Speisekarte, die Portionen waren aber recht gross.

Das Personal hatte offenbar ein Riesendurcheinander mit den Zimmern und hat aus Versehen unseren Zimmerschlüssel anderen Gästen gegeben. Ziemlich unfreundliches Personal. / Unser Zimmer wurde 3 Tage lang nicht gemacht. / Einziges Restaurant im Dorf mit sehr kleiner Karte und überhöhten Preisen.
