Hotel Ranga  

Ganz tolle Lage mit wunderschöner Aussicht. Es ist unbedingt wert, sich ein Superiror-Zimmer mit Zugang zum "hot pot" zu gönnen, wo man dann, wenn man wettertechnisch so wie wir Glück hat, unter sternklarem Himmel bei einem Gläschen Champagner ein warmes Bad geniessen kann! Absolut himmlisch!!!

Das Restaurant am Abend mit weitem Ausblick und hervorragendem Essen werden wir nicht vergessen!

Das Frühstücksbuffet war dürftig und der Service mangelhaft. Das isländische Prei-Leistungsverhältnis ist nicht mit mitteleuropäischen Verhältnissen vergleichbar.

Das Restaurant mit den excellenten Speisen war ein besonderes Erlebnis. Allerdings sind die Preise im Restaurant recht hoch. Die Rezeption hat täglich angeboten, die Gäste im Falle des Erscheines des Polarlichts zu wecken. Leider kam es nicht dazu.

In Anbetracht der Zimmerpreise war die Ausstattung des Zimmers und das Serviceangebot schlecht. An der Arbeitsplatte des Waschbeckentisches fehlte eine Furnierleiste, ein Bedienknopf des Whirlpools im Bad war kaputt, nach erstmaliger Benutzung des Whirlpools war dieser mit schwarzem Dreck, der nicht von uns stammte, übersät. Über dem Waschbecken waren zwei identische Spiegel in dekorativem Holzrahmen so angeordnet, dass man vor dem Waschbecken stehend genau zwischen diese beide Spiegel schaute. Die gesamte Einrichtung war für diese Preiskategorie geschmacklos und wirkte zusammengestoppelt. Ein Viertel des Kleiderschranks wurde durch einen Kühlschrank in Beschlag genommen. Das Geräusch des Kühlschranks war nachts nicht zu überhören. Deutsche Fernsehsender waren nicht im Angebot. Hinter dem Kopfteil des Bettes befand sich ein Lichtschalter für die Nachttischlampen und eine Steckdose. Der Lichtschalter lies sich erst betätigen, wenn man das Bett einige Zentimeter von der Wand geschoben hat oder etwas zwischen Wand und Kopfteil klemmte. Es wäre gerade bei schlechtem Wetter und kurzen Tagen angenehm, wenn es ein Schwimmbad und einen Fitnessbereich gäbe. Das Frühstück war durchschnittlich und entsprach dem Standard, den man üblicherweise vorfindet. Die Rühreier waren vermutlich aus einer Fertigmasse hergestellt, denn auf meinem Teller fand ich den Rest einer Aluminiumverpackung.

Our deluxe room was spacious and comfortable, with a large bed, luxurious sofa and jaccuzzi bath. We were woken (by request) when the northern lights appeared. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Good breakfasts.

The lighting in the room was dull. The restaurant food was disappointing for the prices charged.

The food in the restaurant, though not cheap, was the very best we have ever experienced. The situation was ideal for exploring the south coast, mountains, waterfalls, and after a long day out the hot tubs under the stars were very relaxing. If you want to see the northern lights you can request a call from the hotel staff when they start appearing. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was very clean.

The only thing that was missing perhaps was a reading light. The dim lights in the bedroom added to the ambience, but if you wanted to spend an evening reading it was very difficult, almost impossibe, even using the lamps (particularly for the more mature eyes!).

Lovely relaxed surroundings with friendly helpful staff and excellent, if expensive, restaurant.

Good location with friendly staff and great range of food options for breakfast. The rooms were comfortable with spacious bathroom that included spa bath. The manager was very attentive and great each guest personnally at dinner.

Comparied to the other hotels we stayed with on this trip this was almost 4 times the nightly rate but it was hard to really see the added value of the Hotel Ranga to merit such a price increase. The rooms was rather dark mainly because one of the two ceiling lights did not work. We mentioned this problem to the manager when he greated us at dinner but dispite his assurances the light was still not working when we departed at the end of our 2 night stay. The sofa in the room was comfortable but unfortunately at the end of the room not lit by the faulty ceiling light so it was too dark to read there and the tv was mounted on the wall against which the sofa was placed so you could not sit there and watch the tv either.

Staff more than willing to make your stay memorable by offering any assistance possible. We were upgraded potentially due to a request for a double room due to a planned engagement proposal which made the stay that bit more comfortable. Also the wake up call for the Northern Lights watching was very welcomed meaning we did not have to stand in the cold for hours on end to watch this amazing phoenomenon if and when it occured. It gives the customers of this hotel the best parts without the hassles.

A resort such as this could benefit its customers by becoming an 'all inclusive' hotel.

The Evening dining experience was excellent.

I did not find the front desk staff friendly or welcoming.

They are Northern Lights enthusiasts. This means if there is a Northern Lights display during the night, they will wake you up (this is optional). The food is Michelin Star quality and I looked forward to dinner every night. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a very comfortable hotel with a log-cabin charm about it. Don't miss the stuffed Polar Bear, although not correct in this day and age, it is nevertheless impressive.

It looks a tad dated. The mini-fridge was far too loud during the night.

They have a Northern light wake up call service, is good for the traveler. And the bathroom is quite big with 2ppl jacuzzi.

Staff are really friendly and helpful. The quality of the restaurant is fab too, food is the best I had among all the restaurant I been to in Iceland. It definitely worth the price!
