Cozy and clean rooms in a small complex on the 864 unpaved road. Beautiful place with no other surrounding buildings and overlooking a small river and the fields. The check-in is at the Grimstunga Guesthouse and you have to drive around 6 km to reach the room. The hotel has very well equipped shared kitchen and good WiFi.
The family-run Vogafjos Guesthouse is in a unique natural environment on the eastern shore of Lake Myvatn. It has rooms with a patio and free Wi-Fi.

The farmhouse is a beautiful accommodation. The staff is very kind and helpful. The restaurant is lovely with its view (on the landscape and the cows!), and the food (mostly homemade with farm products) was delicious! I highly recommend.
Offering a shared kitchen/lounge and mountain views, Skútustadir Guest house is set on a farm by the southern shore of Lake Mývatn. WiFi and parking are free.

It was in amazing place close to everthing interesting in that area. Staff was really helpfull when we weren’t early enough for the latest check in, they waited for us. The kitchen was really awesome. Showers were really clean, just because they use the nature to warm the water, it was little stinky, but nothing that bad.
Located within 1.6 mi of Myvatn Nature Baths, Birkilauf in Myvatn has a number of amenities, including lake and mountain views.

New building. Spacious common area and large sparkling modern kitchen. Including washer/ drier so you can do laundry while preparing a meal. Ready for a large group. Large bedroom and bathroom with shower. The bedroom opens to a deck.
There may be a view. All we saw was snow and fog/ cloud. Iceland was having a late winter to mid-April.
It's a beautiful lava field and lake system. Old volcanos and lava flows. Dimmuborgir is a legendary place where the Yule Lads sleep through the summer. Bear in mind that the summer can have hatches of midges.
Krafla Power Station, active geothermal mud pools, Mývatn Nature Baths.
If you travel in the winter it's a great place to see the Aurora as practically no light pollution.
Obviously it's not as nice as Akureyri, but I would say that as I live there

Myvatn Lake certainly has beautiful scenery and the weather is typically warmer than the coast. For the full service/hotel travelers I would recommend Fosshotel. For campers there is plenty of accommodations.

So much to see and do in this area!
So much to see and do in this area! Thankfully we were up and out just after nine! We packed in so much! Lots to see down the eastern side of the lake. Each activity offered us something different and unusual that we hadn’t experienced before. The thermal baths there, although smaller than the Blue Lagoon, are much cheaper and actually offer senior rates. Two pools, one warmer than the other and one sort of large hot tub area. Well worth the money! The cakes in the restaurant there and the coffee were some of the best we’ve had and are reasonably priced. They also have larger meals and soups on offer.

Myvatn is a beautiful lake, and the surroundings have plenty to offer to visit and for hiking. It has a great variety of scenic points and shorter and longer walks. At Skutustadir is a nice information centre that also a small exhibition explaining the origin of the circle of craters over there.

Although it was a long drive from the west of Iceland, it was well worth it. There are so many hidden gems: 2 grottos, a fissure off the beaten path, a nature bath that rivals blue lagoon, and so much more. It's also not crowded due to the location. Well worth the drive!
An excellent place to stay next to Lake Myvatn. Located close to Hverir geothermal area and Myvatn Nature Baths (well worth a visit). The restaurant here is superb and the buffet breakfast the best we had in Iceland with meats and cheeses etc. from the farm (there is a very strong farm to plate ethic going on here). The room itself was well sized but cozy and warm (it was minus 13 in the morning so this was important!). Plus you can go and pet the cows and calves!
Very Friendly staff /nice big room very comfortable bed / with lovey decor. the hotel has a hot tub and a sauna and they even Loan you the use of a fluffy Bath robe and slip ons for walking to the tub .. two choices for dinner we had the buffet it’s was fantastic breakfast was also the best lots of choice for both definitely recommend this place to stay and if you leave your room number they will ring u if the lights appear .. this place ticked all the box’s
We stayed for one night as part of our ring road trip. Excellent location: next to the lake, a volcano hike, and 10 mins from the Myvatn Nature Baths. The true star of this location is the amazing restaurant and friendly staff. We felt spoiled and very well fed — the food is some of the best of our trip, and breakfast was included with our stay. You can even watch the cows getting milked from your dinner table! A true treat.
Wonderful and helpful staff and great restaurant. Delicious breakfast and dinner in the onsite restaurant. Stylish hotel and nice roomy bar area to hang out. . Location was a slight drawback. Its about a 15 minute drive from the main attractions in Myvatn so its an extra 30 minutes round trip for most destinations in the area. But once you get there, it is a stylish hotel with great staff and a really good restaurants.
The campground hosts were very helpful in providing information. The huts are close to a supermarket/gas station and Myvatn lake seems like a vacation spot for the locals. I really liked having a porch to sit on at the end of the day. We used the kitchen of the hostel down the road. The campground bathrooms and showers were kept clean and were walking distance from the huts.
This hotel was very modern and stylish and was in a great location for visiting the Lake Myvatn sites. We loved the free parking, hot tubs in the courtyard, and the beautiful shower in the room with the heated towel bar (perfect for drying bathing suits quickly too!). We ate dinner at the restaurant right next door (Gammi Baerinn) and thought it was really good.
A great hotel. Friendly and helpful staff and a wonderful location, with views out over the lake. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we had a pleasant meal in the restaurant that evening. Breakfast the next morning was a generous spread. I didn't think the pictures did it justice, and I would recommend staying here if in the Mývatn area.
We really enjoyed our stay in the hut as it was warm and comfortable. The location not far from lake Myvatn is great and the staff very friendly and helpful. Check-in at the campsite was very easy (with this wind, we were very happy not having to stay in a tent...)
Best of all of course was the breakfast - it was excellent and even had lava bread!
We did a tour around Iceland and we stayed one night at Aska Modern Cabin. The cabin is situated in a perfect location near Myvatn lake. The reception is nearby and the crew is helpful and friendly. The cabin has all the facilities you need, even a small kitchen if you want do do your own cooking. And we could park the car really nearby.
Everything was perfect. Nice staff, good bedrooms, amazing breakfast, perfect location in Myvatn, clean and tidy rooms. We also had dinner twice in the hotel's restaurant and it was very good for a fair price (in Iceland range). Would definitely recommend and repeat!
They offer different options for dinner in the hotel. The hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet place in the proximity to Myvatn lake and pseudocraters just across the road. Good location for an exploration of various natural wonders in the surrounding area.
Everything was clean, new, parking spot just in front of the house. Note that this is a container hotel, with a camping ground too. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the shared bathroom is clean. Great location for visiting Mytvan Lake and its surroundings.
The location is very good, close to the lake. The owner of the property is a very nice person. had a nice and informative talk after dinner. This hotel is more a family house with a pleasant atmosphere.
- We saw the best Northern light during our stay.
- The hotel provides a wake up service when spotting a northern light.
- The dining experience was amazing.
- The hotel is close to Myvatn lake.
This is where we saw the northern lights for the first time. Friendly staff and a short drive over to the Mývatn bath. Cute little cottage. Good lake view.
