Good location. Quiet. Close to a grocery.
The bathroom in the apartment #5 was a joke. It was just a shower cabin that had a toilet bawl inside it and it's only separation from the main room was a semi-transparent shower door which meant no privacy whatsoever. And if you wanted to use the toilet after having a shower it meant you would be dealing with a completely wet floor and toilet bawl. We had to keep the toilet paper OUTSIDE of the toilet in order to keep it dry! Not to mention that the overall size of the bathroom made it pretty hard to use it in a comfortable way. Also, the room was pretty cold, the duvets seemed to be child size and the apartment was quite dark since the bulbs in 2 out of 3 main lights were missing. On top of that we had trouble with getting the right password for the wi-fi from the ladies at the reception. I felt much more comfortable in another guesthouse in Reykjavik where we just had a room with shared (but normal) bathroom and kitchen for 70% of the price of this apartment. Disappointment.
Location is excellent, 2 minutes away from the very central and the harbour for whale watching tours. Staff was friendly and available 24/7 at the nearby hotel. Mini kitchen to make your own breakfast and lunch.
Room was very basic and small and not at all decorated. It was expensive for what you got but it was high season when we visited.
15 min walk from main strip
Seriously able to shower whilst using the toilet and brushing your teeth. At a stretch you could also have one foot in bed! Small is okay if you a) pay a reasonable price and b) are advised of it being so small.
Cleanliness....shower a little moldy and no vent.
Rooms are clean and bright. After having done quite a bit of browsing for a hotel/guesthouse, it appeared to be nice place and reasonably priced. I was pleased with my choice. The road is very close to the main high street and the harbour area. The road has about 3 other guest houses on it and feels safe. You can book a flybus from the airport to drop you off on the road - very easy. You can get hold of staff at any time of day at the reception of the connected hotel on the next road.
Very little. The only thing was that they had already charged my card for our stay before we went to check out. This left us with a lot of ISK currency on the last day which we had to change back at the airport. We thought breakfast was pricey so we opted to do our own thing in the kitchen.
great location, friendly and helpful staff, clean, nice kitchen and bathroom facilities
no microwave, not much soundproofing
Very friendly staff and very clean and nice looking
check in was 300 m from accommodation itself
Centrally located, but that also lead to a lot of noise on the street.
We stayed overnight at Hilda Guesthouse from Aug.2-4, 2 nights. The fare was € 244 for 2 persons, I.E. € 122, pr. Night for a double-room, without breakfast. For such a price one would expect much more. The rooms were small, no tv as the webpage said there would be on every room, the WiFi system did not function properly at the guesthouse, and the place was very noisy, no soundproofing at all. The price is on the level of good hotels, with private bathroom, but the quality is way below. Furthermore, the staff was not on hand at all times at the hotel, and the breakfast-room was very small, it became extremely crowded when many came at the same time. The kitchen-staff (One person) had problems in filling up with necessary foods for the guests. AND, on top of that, noisy guests arriving in the middle of the night woke up quite a few. All in all, not a very pleasant experience, and definitely not value for the money spent. A Youth Hostel would have been better, they are usually very quiet, and at a much lower price, and more pleasant breakfast as well. All other stays on Iceland have been very pleasant in both hotels and hostels, but this was definitely not pleasant. And NO VALUE FOR THE MONEY!
economical , comfortable and a great location. For 8 euros, the breakfast was excellent. Very helpful staff.
We stayed in Gallery central so reception and breakfast were in the next street !
A decent place. Excellent location.
Very busy sharing of the bathroom.
