I loved the position, it's near to the main church and to the main shopping and restaurant street. The staff was helpfull. You can walk around the city without problem.
The parking area it's in the street around, it's free parking bit when we arrived it's crowded so it isn't so easy to park.
- Value - Very helpful & polite staff - Clean (although if you looked for dust on top of wardrobe, you could find it) - Decent breakfast - Location is great for Reykjavik
- I could be picky about cheap furnishings, but for the price it was as expected and perfectly adequate.
Our family of four stayed in a family room, which contained one set of bunk beds and two twin beds pushed together. It wasn't a huge room, but it was big enough that we weren't tripping over each other when moving about. The shower & toilet were across the hall, but there was a small sink in our room, which was a nice touch. Having a sink in one's room must help reduce demand for the main bathroom; that's smart. I liked that the room included a small fridge. That was handy for breakfast. The hostel is well-situated for different modes of transportation - convenient if you have a car, as there is street parking, and the hostel isn't far from the main road into town. It's also walkable to the heart of Reykjavik.
The hostel is a 15-20 minute walk from the heart of town. I enjoyed the walk, but my suburban children thought it a bit long.
The location was great. The staff was very friendly and I felt safe.
The friendliness of the staff.
The lady running the breakfast needs phone or a radio to the front desk so that she doesn't have to keep leaving the beakfast area to sort out people who don't have breakfast tickets.
Position. Very close to the town center. Room clean.
No kitchen in the structure!! Firs hostel without kitchen in my life!! Bathroom not cleaned frequently.
Breakfast was excellent
Cheap location in Reykjavik, close to bus terminal
Small rooms without any comfort
Prices. Room where old. No tv. Noisy refridgerator
Nice room, friendly staff..
Much too expensive for what it is.
Comfortable dorm room, sharing wasn't a problem. Good location for all activities.
Good location, walking distance to city centre Small garden outside Staff helpful with tips for restaurants, shopping, sight-seeing and shuttle-bus service to airport
No common kitchen facilities in the house we were in Doors hinges needs oiling; lots of noise from squeeking room and bathroom doors all night made it almost impossible to sleep!
Friendly people. Easy walk from bus station when just arriving.
Bad price quality (the fact that many hotels overprice does not mean that this one should do it too). 1 bathroom with toilet/shower combined for 10 people = over occupied. Noisy, walls don't isolate much (we were in one of the separate houses).
Not so friendly. Only littel personal contact
The first day the breakfast lady threw all plates into the kitchen and wasn't willing to serve anything. The second day breakfast was fine but we were kicked out of the breakfast room very unpolitely when breakfast hours came to an end. A very special experience, haven't ever experienced anything like this.
The location was awesome. Nice people. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast lady was so nice and friendly!
Location, Infrastructure and Value for Money
Charme Close to a youth hostel
Location was ok
The facilities were not really clean
Good location Very Helpfull staff
Common bathroom facilities too few and too small and often dirty. Our room quadrupple too tiny for more than 2 people.
friendly and very helpful staff (greetings, Adam! :), tasty and varied breakfast, extremely good coffee!, bright room, comfortable bed, quite good localization - near BSI bus station
I didn't like only one thing - that my room wasn't cleaned every day. I stayed there for 8 days, and after 3rd day I had to go to reception and ask for cleaning service because it wasn't there since my check in. After that it was cleaned only 2 times.
Clean, bright, comfortable, quiet. Clear, organized, professional check-in, and we were able to leave some bags that we didn't want to travel with at the hostel a week ahead of time.
Could have used another staff member at front desk, we had to wait for help a few times.
Everybody working there was very helpful, clean rooms and sanitary facilities, free WLAN, breakfast with free extra entertainment ;-)
Super friendly and helpful staff. Facilities OK for a hostel.
Not super close to the main action. Rooms a bit small.
Very very good place
Everything perfect, but will recommend to oil the doors and change the lockers. In that case people won't here how people coming and going 10 times per night. Very lound, but place very clean and good. Stuff very welcome and nice
We rented the family apartment and it worked great for our 2 sons (8 & 10) and us. The apt. is on the third floor of a building two doors down from the main house and was very quiet. It has two beds large enough for two people each: one is in a separate bedroom and the other in the living room. The little roof top patio was nice and the kitchen with a working oven was very helpful to keep food costs down. Great wi-fi connection too and ample street parking. Breakfast was included in our rate and was a great way to start the day early. Location only 10 minute stroll from the shopping/entertainment action. If you need a private crash pad for your small family and want to self-cater, this is the place. If you are expecting a hotel-like experience, keep looking.
Probably needs one more trip to Ikea to make the kitchen a little more useful. Broken shower door made for a soggy bathroom floor.
