the quieteness of the environment, the very good food, the relaxing hot pool outside and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
it's a bit remote from Akureyri if you have no vehicle (about 6 km) and there is no bus service - the taxi can get expensive.
Its a personal guesthouse with a soul, lovely host, Dísa who is an artist in so many ways. Good breakfast and service.
Great spot. Fun guests. Super staff.
+ nice Hottub in the garden + good breakfast + nice garden to relax
Clean and friendly with a good restaurant. For a certain traveller a very good pick...perhaps a younger couple looking for eco, simple, quirky.
For us...access to washrooms was an issue in the morning and I found the décor inside and outside rather odd. Our window looked onto an odd building which blocked the lovely view of the fjord.
Friendly and helpful staff Nice breakfast Complimentary tea and coffee Nice views and hot tub
Beautiful setting and kind staff. All the people who work with the horses were lovely. We went riding and my 5 year old daughter had a lesson, which was terrific. Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Would love to return here one day!
Location, cleanliness, comfort, friendliness
location, garden, hot tub
just 2 bathrooms per floor
Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Loved the hot tub. Nice, peaceful location.
quiet location. horseriding next door. hot tub with stunning view. the restaurant. original decoration of the corridors.
nothing in particular
This place is like walking into a tea party thrown by your sweet old Nana. Staff was super friendly and helped us get a load of (super stinky) laundry done on time for our early'ish departure the next morning. The dinner was also pretty good. Facilities were clean and comfortable. If we had more time we would have taken advantage of their hot tub, library and horse tours. Highly recommend!
They made us feel so welcome, everyone was very friendly, food was excellent, room was great, hot pot was great, lounge was great - nothing to complain about
Excellent location on the water just out if Akureyri. Beautiful room, comfortable bedding and great breakfast too!
I liked everything! The people who were tending to the care of the place were thorough, attentive and cheerful, the couple that own and organize everything were wonderful and delightful, the decor was zany, fun, and exceptional, the location was beautiful and serene naturally and accompanied with hammocks and outdoor sitting so one could be enjoying the fresh air. The nice large hot tub was a real bonus!
I wasn't especially fond of the bathrooms down the hall but there were enough of them that I didn't feel rushed and the space was large and easy to be in with touches of the fun decor. And we knew it would be like this when we signed up. I wouldn't call it a negative aspect of the place just not as convenient as a toilet in the room.
• Design! • Hot tub • Breakfast • Horses (horse riding)
I wanted to stay at this guesthouse based on the reviews I had read of the food, and the whimsical decor. I think it would be a lovely honeymoon place, and the view from the hot tub is wonderful. I really enjoyed the food, and loved the property — the horses, fjord, gardens and hammocks. The staff is top notch. The service spot on.
While I didn't mind it so much, my male friend did find the place a little overly decorated with hearts and angels, making it just a little too feminine. I can totally see his point, and wanted to mention that. At times we felt it was a little too precious and could do with a more contemporary modern touch. That said, I still highly recommend this place.
Fantastic guesthouse in beautiful surroundings a short drice from Akureyri. They have a wonderful hot tub, good food, comfortable beds and friendly staff. Absolutely recommended!
This guesthouse was a find! It is conveniently located, only a few minutes drive from Akureyri, yet in a country like setting. The guesthouse is situated on the lake, surrounded by a beautiful outdoor grounds, with horses close by. The rooms are comfortable and spotless. The living room common area, which overlooks the lake, is large, well furnished and decorated, and very comfortable. Coffee and tea are available all the time (complimentary), and there is a stocked bar for other beverages (alcoholic and nonalcoholic) which you are asked to keep track of and add to your bill (an honor system). This is a wonderful example of a family owned and operated business that works. The owners run an environmentally sustainable facility. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are personal touches everywhere. Breakfast is excellent (includes homemade bread, cake, and jams) with a good variety of nice cheeses, meats, biscuits, cereals, Skyr, and yogurt. We had dinner at the guesthouse, which I also recommend. This guesthouse is an excellent value. We stayed 3 nights. Our 2 teenage kids loved the stay as well (good internet reception).
The bathroom latches can be noisy during the night if you are a light sleeper, depending on where your room is situated.
staffs helped us understand the accommodation when we were arrived. it offers nice breakfast as well.
Everything was fine
This place is outside of Akureyi, which was perfect for us. We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon walking around the premises, checking out the hammocks, sitting in the lounge area, and using the hot tub. We ate a delicious dinner at the restaurant. They seem to really value local and fresh ingredients. The staff was very friendly. The views of the fjord and mountains from the hot tub and rooms are impressive. Even though there were quite a few other people around, the shared bathrooms were always open when we needed them.
It had a great setting right on the water and was quiet.
Due to the fact that the building is actually and hold retirement home the doors echo in the hallways and it was quite loud until midnight with people coming in and out of their rooms. But being on the water is worth the trade off....just bring ear plugs.
Nice location, friendly staff, very good breakfast selection
As mentioned in the description this has been a former elderly home, which you will notice by all the appearances in the rooms and bathrooms and the smell; unfortunately it does not help that the decoration of the rooms is nice as you feel being in an elderly home or hospital
Shared bathrooms. Plants weren't watered.
Very clean and large rooms
A wee bit utilitarian (but it did used to bean old folks home)
