The only positive was that the Hotel was in the centrum. When I arrived at the hotel, I had to write a form with passport number and visa card number. I was nearly thrown out when I refused it. I told the man that I had already paid with my card and that he had Checked on pc. It was of course everything in order so I got room key. It was very loud sounds in the ventilation system especial in the 4 floor so there was not much sleep. Main door at the Hotel was lost after 12:00 pm so you had to call and wait for a while. There were not that good cleaning. It was the blond hair on the cabinet in the bathroom and it was not clear on the 3 days that I was in a hotel. The bed laughing between a wall and a closet so they could not stretch my legs, poor people who slept there were over 1.85 cm. It was 3-4 borings tv channels and tv was 20 years old, in addition tv control did not work. Breakfast was very simple. The bathroom was very small, espesielt dush cabinet so if you are big is very tight in there. I had a double room but I got only one big towel. I had to speak out to get 2 big towels. Windows is from 1987 so you can imagine for a moment stand at the hotel. Poor internet speed.Hotelet is not a 4 stars hotel, if compared with other hotels, especial bath and breakfast.

Location, friendly staff, good breakfast Noise from the pubs during the night. Didn't bother me but this is not the place for people looking for peaceful sleep.

The location was very good but I can imagine the noise from the street would be detrimental to the experience at weekends. It was quite noticeable on the Thursday.

Good value for money. Great location. Adequate breakfast. Nice that the breakfast room stays open 24 hours and you can have coffee, tea or chocolate at any time. It´s noisy indeed on Friday and Saturday night (but then most of Reykjavik is) but very quiet all the other days.

Perfect location on the main road, good size rooms with bathroom and buffet breakfast. We had a leak in our bathroom which came to our room floor. The smell in our room was unplesant and they didn`t change the towels when asked.

Location No remote in the room. Tv didn't seem to have multiple channels. Wasn't clear how the front desk could be contacted by phone. The hotel was billed as 4-star, but it clearly wasn't. The room was anything but superior.

Nice size rooms, decent breakfast, comfortable beds. Near to shops and entertainment. It could be a bit noisy some nights due to proximity to clubs/bars. Actually, we did not mind but some people might find it hard to sleep.

Great location, great staff - very helpfull with booking trips. Very nice bed and heating. Good value for money. It's not a 4* hotel, but neither was the price we paid as for a 4* hotel. So with discount it is highly worth staying at this hotel. On weekend nights you can hear street noise, as all Reykjavik is awake and partying.

Early check-in option. Staff was extremely helpful in every aspect: local travel arrangements and accomodating other needs. Saturday night in Rejkjavik was very noisy.....

It was in a great location. The breakfast was super and I loved the sunny, greenhouse type breakfast room. Everything was clean and we were very comfortable. I have one suggestion. I think that it would be a good idea to allow checkout at 1:00 without an additional fee. Since the flybus picks up then, that would be much more convenient and allow a little more time to visit around town.

Excellent location but weekend travellers join in the drink because they can forget about sleeping. We did the former.

Breakfast We had a different reservation with them (a few days earlier) and apparently they overbooked and sent us to another Centerhotel, which was very uncomfortable. When we finally did stay at Skjaldbreid, they gave us a twin room, even though the reservation was for a double. The tv didn't have a remote, which meant we only got one channel, and they said there was nothing they could do about that.

I thought the staff were extremely helpful and informative; recommending places to eat and visit when asked and helping me when I needed to contact a tour operator. Our room was very quiet. The room was rather small and very warm. The window only opened a little bit. The tv had limited choice. However, none of these things spoiled our stay. We liked the hotel.

The receptionists were courteous and helpful and spoke excellent English. Their willingness to contact other hotels which were on our itinery, because of the problem with the bridge at Vik was greatly appreciated. The breakfasts were 'en par' with other hotels. The idea of offering coffee and tea throughout the day/night in the 'Sun room' was a great idea.We made the right choice excpet for ... (see below:) ... the only problem we encountered was the music and partying sounds, from the street, which penetrated the room and disturbed much needed sleep until 4am on Friday and Saturday nights - two out of the three nights we stayed there. It would have been good to know of this 'polution' before hand with an alternative suggestion for a quieter venue for these two nights offered.

Centrally located and the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and even when we left very early, the staff made sure the breakfast room was open with some tea/coffee and pastries.

Very central location, rooms comfortable and nicely furnished. Staff very helpfull. For Iceland and Reykjavik good value. We stayed over weekend nights, so, as the hotel's location was central, a benefit, it was also a negative due to street noise late into the night and early morning.

Location Hold fashioned furniture, everything seems to have been over used. Far from what can be expected from a 4-star hotel. Breakfast buffet is just fair, again not at the level for a 4-star hotel.

“It was clean, comfortable, in a perfect location - and most of all - it was quiet. It had all the necessities a traveller could need + additional space of an apartment compared to a small rooms Reykjavik hotel usually offer. Adjustable radiators are a very very important thing during the winter time as well ! Also, Reykjavik hotels in many cases are situated above or very near to night-clubs or pubs which makes it almost impossible to sleep there during the weekends. I stayed in Welcome Appartments Lindargata 38 apartment, and it has a perfect location - 3 minutes from Harpa conference hall, just around the corner from the main shopping street from one hand and the seashore from the other. Still there are no clubs or pubs next-door. The price was very good as well. I was extremely sattisfied with this choice !!! I will go for their appartments also next time and will not even bother with cheking the hotels !! even the self-chek-in is very convenient !!” Kairi, Tallinn |
