Staff Comfort and size of bed Bathroom Kettle in room
Windows didn't shut and only single glazed. Very noisy as street busy all night
The location was central to Reykjavik, close to everything you need. Staff were great (even being available at 2am for check in) Bed was super comfortable, and it was well priced for its location.
Good location. Easy access to main road and downtown. Staff was responsive to all questions.
Nothing. No complaints
Very central, right on main street. Efficient check-in process and host Gabriel was informative and friendly. Tea and coffee-making facilities welcome, and bed was very comfortable. Convenient 15 minute walk to bus station for bus to international airport.
As the hotel is on a corner of main street, we got a bit of noise from passing pedestrians until quite late, but the convenient location made up for this.
enjoyed our stay good, clean, central location. bathroom was clean and adequate for our room. host greeted us and gave us guidebook to iceland. his suggestion for a restaurant for dinner was excellent. would probably look here first if returning to iceland.
Location, price, and Raphael was a wealth of information and invaluable help and recommendations
A little loud on the biggest party night of the year. Otherwise splendid.
the bed was very cosy and the room had a good size. location great in the heart of the city. check in & out was very uncomplicated.
the bathroom was terrible, there was just a showerhead out of the wall with a curtain. after showering the whole floor was wet. for the price I would have expected a proper bathroom.
Besides the location we particularly liked that the Villa was more of an Icelandic residence than just a typical hotel. The facilities were basic but clean, comfortable and very pleasant. We would definately stay here again.
We missed having face cloths in the shower and kleenex in the room.
The Villa is located in the heart of central Reykjavik, just down the street from Hallgrimskirkja on one end and the main shopping streets on the other. It is cute, clean, well kept, light and bright. We stayed for a week and were quite comfortable. The host (Raphael) and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in two rooms during the week, and both had comfy beds and private baths. The rooms also had electric tea kettles and were supplied with tea and cocoa. Fresh bath towels were provided each day. We were able to walk all over central Reykjavik easily from this location. There is a market (groceries and sundries) just a few buildings up the street and there are several good and affordable restaurants on the street as well. Raphael moved us to a larger room when one became available, provided me with a hair dryer when I asked about where to purchase one, and arranged our return transportation to the airport for us upon our request. The Villa is a good value and we were very happy with our stay.
I reconfirmed our booking by email with the host about two weeks before our stay, and requested a room on the entry floor. I exchanged several pleasant emails with him. However, the credit card we used to make the booking had expired by the time he processed it (a week before our visit?) and he never contacted us, so we did not know there was a problem. When we arrived, he said he didn't know if we were coming and there were no rooms available on the entry floor. Luckily there was a room available on the second floor. The room was nice but very small. It would have been fine for one person but was crowded for two. I thought it was very unprofessional of the host not to have contacted us to get another card number. The second floor room had low water pressure in the shower (if you have long hair you will have trouble getting it thoroughly rinsed, short hair will be fine) and a very poor wifi connection (we had to go out into the hall to get a good signal). Those issues were fixed when we were moved to a larger room on the entry floor - no problem on that floor with water pressure or internet. So, if you are a single traveller with short hair who does not need wifi, the second floor would be fine for you. The rooms would be improved by the addition of floor length mirrors, larger waste baskets, and mini-refrigerators.
good on location, friendly staff that willing to help. would definitely recommend
I like the location the most. It's pretty central without being too close to the city center. I like the church it is close to and the local swimming pool with sauna where the locals to. The host Rafael is very responsive and his stuff is very nice. They helped me to book the day trips and gave me good advice on where to go to the swimming pool and what tours make sense to take considering the amount of days I stayed and the weather. The bed is very comfortable; the bedding is high quality. WIFI was very good too and always worked. Overall, I had a positive experience and would stay there again.
The room nice but because it is small, it needs some adjustment such as lights above the bed so that you can read at night, some extra outlets, a place to hang coats or at least a couple of hooks. These are easy things to add to any room and they do not cost that much but will dramatically improve quality of your stay. Also, even though the bed is extremely comfortable and the bedding is excellent, I think it would be nice if there would be more space left under the bed frame to stick your luggage so that it does not take on all the space in a small room.
Location was excellent, Very clean, Very pleasant and friendly staff. Great value for the price in Reykjavik. Host gave us good advice and suggestions. Totally good.
There was nothing we didn't like
Calm, landscape in front of Eyjafjallajokull ! Good breakfast
The price is very expensive compared to other hotel in Iceland No free wifi, cottages are very small
Perfect location, clear rooms, nice staff.
Excellent location and very friendly and helpful staff. The room was good, seems like it was newly refurbished. No frills, but yet efficient. Though an adivise is earplugs during the night: the walls might be made of paper-you could hear everything loud and clear from the street and from the neighbours in the guesthouse.
place is good
Located only some meters from Hallgríms church.
perfect place as base to explore Reykjavik. friendly , helpful manager. clean and pleasant room.
no access to coffee and breakfast in morning.
reasonable price, great location
Location, accommodating staff to an early arrival and storage of luggage until room was available.
Private bathroom was not exclusive and was used by others, including staff
Perfect location; Nice room; Comfortable and clean
wifi had issues and didn't work on the last two days breakfast not included in the price but Reykjavik has plenty of good places in any case to have a good breakfast
Very clean and comfortable. Great wifi connection. Situated in a shopping area and close to main shopping street.
Quite expensive for a guesthouse with no breakfast included. Difficult to contact owner without 24h reception
