This is a tiny town and location is good. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Although it looked a little shabby, everything is clean and beds comfortable. We slept well!
The standard rooms could use an update as they are in the older part of the hotel. Superior rooms are in the new addition. Would have appreciated a better clarification about this when I booked.
it was a very bad experience staying in welcome hotel in vik. first of all, the price isn't cheap, but it looks old and unclean. the worst thing is they don't have hot water!! we tried twice in the late night and early morning, and still couldn't shower!! the staff told us it's because they have many guests checked in, so they didn't have enough hot water to supply....
The town of Vik is in the middle of quite a few attractions so the Welcome Hotel was our home base for 2 nights. Room was small but clean, had its own bathroom. Breakfast was included.
Make sure you keep your towel as room was not refreshed. We had a balcony attached to our room but I guess I'm not real bright as I could not figure out how to unlock the door even after the gentleman gave me a demonstration!!!!! Of all our stays this room was the most expensive
Kind staff, great location, great shower with wonderfully hot water, convenient parking. Good breakfast.
Lots of traffic noise at night since our room faced the street. (Request a room at the back.) Room was tired, needed an update. No black-out shades (needed for good sleep given the long daylight hours). We had requested twin beds, but were given a double instead.
Well located. Good breakfast
Staff not specially friendly. Restaurant mediocre. Overpriced!
Functional and adequate. Good location, next to very nice restaurant.
Breakfast was ok but limited.
The amenities were very very basic and the room rate is way overpriced for the what you're getting. The room needs renovation and the upholstery looks old.
- beautiful rooms, comfortable, modern - delicious and generous breakfast - location
- outside of building not attractive - poor wifi - very expensive for a family (needed to book 2 rooms)
just the location
bad atmosphere and poor service
location and comfort
cold showers noisy in the morning (staff with keys)
good free breakfast location friendly host
decor price a bit high
The location is ideal for the South East side of Iceland
Its really frustrating that a room that would cost at most 30€ at any other part of the world is rated 170€ due to lack of rooms in the area of Vik. Really poor quality of room..slow wifi..no soundproofing at all..poor breakfast..dirty dishes...in general a real tragedy for such a beautiful place as Vik
Just a shame ! The most expensive room of my trip, the worst !!! A little old room... And the breakfast didn't do better... I do not recommend !
Nice room, good location and excelent service. Short distance from the famous black beach.
the localization ,the renovation
no help from the staff
Wonderful place to stay!! We stayed there for 3 nights, everything was very nice (except the giant in the reception - he was very rude!!!!!).... Staff is really professional and helpful. Clean and bright rooms, nice breakfast.
Bad weather - but its nth connected with hotel...
breakfast was good
Restaurant didn't have much choice
The hotel room was ok.
The staff was noisy during the night. The food in the restaurant was very very poor and much too expensive. The woman in the kitchen wore flipflops. Cash ist not accepted, only credit cards.
Reception staff was not welcoming, not helpful; hot water stopped running when in the shower; we were told it would be ok in 20 minutes; however, the water could not be descripted warm!
Staff does not know the concept service, hot rooms hardly to be ventilated one small window. Overall poor hotel, not kept in good shape, absolutely not deserving its price.
Perfectly situated when driving around the island. Nice personnel and breakfast.
We had a room, that more looked and felt like at charter hotel from the 80s.
Staff totally unprofessional and unkind. Room 209 very small, old carpet..need total renovation.absolutely expensive.not recommanded
Helpful, Family-like staff, but don't expect too much from the new wing of rooms.
Why in heaven place a carpet imitating rocks on the floor? How does one keep it clean at all?
