Breakfast was so delicious, so many choices in buffet. WiFi is good. Free parking available, there are 2 very nice restaurants around the hotel.
TV didn't work, and tea facilities outside the room.
It's difficult to find hotels on the south coast of Iceland open in winter and this is one of the few available.
It's a minimal hotel, which would be fine if the price matched the facilities. The restaurant is pricey, especially considering the mediocre quality of the food. The gas station grill is probably a better choice.
Dirty spoons, glasses etc.the stuff was not helpful and they couldn't speak english.the beds were small and generally the hotel was not clean.
too far to live in Vik and bad service
The restaurant downstairs has a large enough selection to feed picky eaters. The room was clean and the place was very quiet. Breakfast was included in our payment and it was a delicious buffet with much-needed coffee.
we showed up and there didn't seem to be anyone there that knew we were guests who had booked reservations. It appeared that we are to check-in by calling a number with the phone in the lobby, but one of the staff members was more than willing to help us out.
Hotel was super easy to check in to, very clean, comfortable, and the attached restaurant serves incredibly delicious pizza (I might even go as far to say it was better than NYC's pizza). I traveled to Vik with my boyfriend and another couple. All four of us agreed this hotel was an excellent find. Oh and wifi and breakfast were also included in the price. We will be back.
Affordable, free wifi, good stopping point if you are driving around the Ring road, has a restaurant with decent food and decently sized portions, staff extremely nice very nice attractions within 50 km around
staff doesn't speak English very well, although they work around it nicely almost always not able to pay with cash!
Unfriendly, unwelcoming and hostile
It was quiet
We didn't meet a single person working in the hotel at all
The room was clean, WiFi worked great.
No staff after hours, so the foyer was full of strange random people that came in to use a bathroom but were not staying in the hotel. Poor breakfast. A hostel next door made this place look like a motel. Definitely not worth the price we paid for this "hotel".
The two staff running the hotel did not speak English or any other common European languages. I don't even think they spoke Icelandic. There were many communication problems between staff and guests, most of which had to be resolved via a telephone translation.
Good location. Comfy room.
Poor breakfast. Expensive for what you get. No one from the staff speaks english.
Close to the beautiful black sandy beach, very good breakfast.
Breakfast was really good! Close to the sea and a nice owner.
Our room was just above front door. Each time someone was leaving, the door were closing with such a strength that was shaking our beds.
Room is small with basic facilities.
Staff dont speak with tourists
Breakfast included Rooms well heated Car park close to the centre of Vik
Old fashioned décor
Good location for exploring. Very small place area but good for one night. You access reception via a phone and the key holder is unique! Hotel was clean and tidy.
Breakfast not as good as other places but the pancakes where nice
Automated check-in - it's fast and smooth. You don't need to worry when you come and queue in the reception. Rooms are spacious and clean
Parking is a bit small It's a big hotel for Icelandic standards and can be crowded (for Icelandic standards ;)) No elevator
Good room for the night.
The bathrooms were a lil dingy, especially the shower. The check in process with making a call was super weird.
Family room with good bedding for all. Children LOVED the light-colour changing in the shower! Clean, functional room and bathroom. A bargain with breakfast included. Great restaurant next door.
There could be more space in the room but very convenient to fit 4 people in one room only, so not a real problem.
The location is great.
We arrived to find no one at the check-in counter. It was around 5 pm, and a sign said check in started at 3 pm. So according to that information, someone should have been there! There was a phone number to call and a phone on the counter, but when we tried the number it didn't work. We ended up having to use the cell phone of someone who worked at the hotel, who came across as quite unfriendly. We definitely did not feel welcome at the Welcome Hotel. I don't even know who or where the person was that we talked to on the phone. We were finally able to check in that way, but once we got to our room we found it to be rather unpleasant. There was a definite sewage smell, and the bathroom was disgusting - the shower stall was full of mold.
It is good value for money if you are on budget, the location is quiet so you will have a good sleep. the breakfast is fairly nice. but not much selections.
The room is very basic, only have a small table and chair. there is no shampoo or shower gel available to use.so if you plan to stay in this hotel , you will need to bring this yourself.
We were concerned because of the reviews we'd read after we had already booked. But our room was fine, bathroom nice, breakfast good--hot pancakes! The man who was in charge spoke little English, he's Polish, but was pleasant and helpful. The lady we saw, not so! We had no complaints.
The Wi-Fi didn't work in our room. Other than that, no problems.
The breakfast was great! The hotel was what we needed!!
There was no face to talk to, no reception so it makes the experience cold.
