The location, the nice wooden house, the hot tub, the beautiful "living room", except from the weired staff situation a very nice stay
No idea why the hotel is called "welcome hotel", as the woman who is there doesn't as much as the word "welcome" in english. They would be better of with a self-check-in system instead of staff who only tells you to call the hotline number to get info...
location, style, relaxed feel, helpfulness of staff
The hotel is comfortable with a great atmosphere, plus a hot tub that makes for a relaxing evening after being outside in the cold. No restaurant, so we brought our own food and ate in the common area. Good aurora viewing opportunities outside!
Try to arrive during the day if possible - at night in the snow, it was difficult to find. Breakfast had moldly bread and old, brown fruit and vegetables, so we had to be careful what we ate.
The stunning setting and the hot tub in -4 degree weather!
The room we had was built into the eaves so very difficult to get around. The bathroom was a good size - almost bigger than the room but we felt that overall it was overpriced.
The hottub for watching northern lights was a plus, but a roll in the snow needed to cool off every now and then. Wifi worked ok and breakfast was quite nice
The worker there was not friendly
Very weird service. Only one service lady who did not speak English (at least when we checked in). We had to call a number to get our room key- which was fine but then the only employee had our room key the entire time. We arrived in a snow storm and the employee parked her car day and night under the only covered area we could unload our gear. We went out the back door to see the northern lights and use the hot tub. The employee told us to only use the front door and walk around the entire house in our bathing suits. The hot tub wasn't even warm. Everything else at the property was great.
Comfort the spa excellent room beautiful hotel
Very clean, great nights sleep, fantastic location for exploring the south.
Not much in the way of breakfast and no snacks or drinks available to buy so make sure you pick up bits on your travels before arriving
a relaxed atmosphere
Large wood cabin style building with welcoming lounge where you can play board games.
Strange 'no cash' rule so you are looking at taking out a credit card to pay for a coffee.
Such a cosy place.. Awesome room, hall, hot tub.. Good position on the way to vik or on the way back to Reykjavik.
No provision for evening meals, or place to cook own.
everything was good )
2 small things - first of all is a sign for the place - it is there but the place itself a bit off the main road and there are several houses close by, in the darkness you can't really see which place exactly looks like the one on photo and the sign does not have noticeable point to the right direction, it's just kind of sign plate w/o any arrows. Second small thing is the balcony - it was great to have one in the room, but it is shared with the room next to ours and to my shame I could not figure out how to lock the door ))) In the hotel we stayed next day it was same knob system and they shown me how it works ) so it would be nice to have a small instructions next to the balcony door
Attractive log cabin style building. Simple breakfast but plenty of it. Lovely spacious bathroom and reliable wifi.
Stiff door made it difficult to get into the building. Access to your room is via a phone call which can be a little confusing.
No kitchen were you can cook Very nice building but the staff doesn't do a lot of effort... The check-in was not clear
Hot tub, location and friendly staff
It looks beautiful and the views are amazing.
Family room was poorly designed - just four beds, two bedside cupboards, a wardrobe, two chairs and a shoe rack. A table would have been useful, or even extra bedside cupboards. Three of the eight lights didn't work so it was pretty dim. And nor did I appreciate staff having cigarette breaks underneath our balcony or the fact that the breakfast room was ridiculously cramped and the whole place overheated.
In 3 trips to Iceland this was the only place that I've had to pay for tea/coffee. No glasses in bathroom only plastic cups.
This place was amazing. The hot tub was awesome as well as the rest of the hotel. It really was a fantastic place to stay at. Clean and modern rooms. Wonderful breakfast. The location of the hotel is excellent.
A friend made a mistake of putting his beer into the "staff only" room, as that was the only place with a fridge. The staff yelled at him and even though all the group members apologized numerous times for his mistake, the staff was rude for the remaining of the stay.
Location Lovely property Spacious rooms Lovely hot tub Stunning views
Staff not very welcoming but polite Beautiful property but some of the accessories were disappointing ie plastic cups in bathroom, having to pay for tea/coffee etc
stayed at much better places during my stay in iceland. good location would advise for large groups, for example school groups
no atmosphere no reception, with no music, and not much chat from 'the staff' makes for an unattractive stay, even though the place has no major negatives. would not advise for couples
Log cabin style Views over mountains Hot tub Saw the northern lights
No proper reception and the staff member didn't seem to have a clue what he was doing. Very basic breakfast. I stayed in four hotels in Iceland and this was the most expensive and the most basic of them all.
Everything was clean and well organised. At breakfast it was plenty of varied food. The hot tub was great!
Location, hot tub, lounge room, wifi, staff, ambience.
Worst breakfast in Iceland, needs more choice, more tables (could setup say three tables in lounge just for breakfast). Overall maintenance is a bit shoddy. We were given the WORST room in the place even though we booked nine months before travelling, that is very bad client organisation. Manager could have put us in a better room but he has NO IDEA who is coming each day (we asked). Overall admin of this guesthouse needs a rocket up their arse.
Log design was beautiful, inviting and wonderfully cosy. Comfortable beds, large bathroom. Very quiet. Lovely location just off the ring road. We stayed here in between Reykjavik and Hofn.
