the location was excellent, easy to get to from airport or railway station; well it is basically nex to the railway station. you can easily cross a bridge and get to venice's streets, or get on the water shuttle to anywhere, (this is important because there are different lines and only this place has access to all lines), just 25 m from the hotel. very nice garden if you travel in spring or summer. the hotel does not get affected by acqua alta 131 cm, this is very important if it happens on your arrival or departure. hotel staff is very helpfull and they are on all the time. the hotel is an ex-monastry located within a church. this means you'll wake up with bell ringings around 6 am, this was fine for me since i wanted to go around venice early in the morning but it is worth mentioning since there might be late sleepers choosing this hotel. the breakfast buffet was poor, not much to select from. hotel was overall clean however we saw hair in our shower which shows that the cleaning is not deep through. |

The location is great, it's just 3 minutes walk from the main train station. We could also use a wi-fi free internet. The man from the staff lent us a power adapter, that was nice because italian sockets are a bit different. The breakfast was OK. There is a church near the hotel and the bells woke us up every morning at about 6 a.m. The room was quite expensive, more expensive than a similar room in other italian cities. And, of course, it was different from the ones on the photos. There was some dust on the floor too, but overall it was quite clean. One more notice - we arrived at 9:00 a.m., but the room was ready only at 13:00 (probably there were a lot of people staying in the hotel). |

Hotel staff were excellent, very friendly & went out of their way to help with suggestions of where to go to eat, what to see & the best way to get there. Hotel is very close to train station so was easy to walk there when we arrived which was great as we arrived at night & it was raining this was thanks to directions given on Trip Advisor by another traveller. |

Location is very good, reception staff excellent and room very clean and more than adequately furnished. The bar and coffee facility were closed throughout the stay which was a pity as it limited the amount of socialising |

We loved our stay at Hotel Abbazia! It is in an old church, it still has the pulpit on the wall in the lounge area, also a beautiful garden that you can have breakfast in or just relax. The staff was excellent, arranged for a complimentary water taxi over to Murano to tour a glass factory and gave some excellent recommendations for dinner. It is very close to the train station and while most travelers try to stay close to St. Marks Square, you quickly realize what a smart decision it is to stay there. No dragging your luggage up and over bridges, no trying to figure out how to get around those narrow streets to find your hotel, no expensive water taxi. Good breakfast, great staff, clean rooms. This was the most expensive place we stayed (Rome, Florence also), but then again, everything was more expensive in Venice. I would recommend adding some hot items to the breakfast, lunch meat and rolls only taste good for breakfast a couple of times! |

The location is perfect, next door to train station, and vaporetto stop. The breakfast was good,a lthough same every day and no cooked food (eggs, etc). We booked a Supererior Room for Three. My feeling was we got a Standard Double with an Extra Bed, although the hotel staff was insisting we got the right one. The bathroom was nice and spacious. However the room itself was rather shabby with dirty walls and old furniture and without any amenities, like water heater or anything. Definitely NOT a superior room, especially for this price. |

The hotel staff were extremely helpful. Being caught in the middle of a train worker strike, the staff did everything they could to accomodate us and kept things flexible. We were lucky enough to have the strike cancelled, but if it had gone through I would not have minded staying another night in this beautiful hotel. Our hot water in the shower was very erratic. The water did not get cold, but it did not stay hot; just luke-warm. After notifying the front desk they sent a repairman to fix it. |

Very convenient to the nearest boat stop, buses and trains. Staff very helpful.Nice breakfast room and nice to have a lounge for late night drinks. Outside garden room was also pleasant.Front of reception desk staff could not do enough for us. Would certainly stay here again. The Croissants for breakfast were not terribly tasty. Quite sweet. |

The hotel location was fantastic, right next to the train station and the main shopping and eating strip in Cannaregio, yet it felt very private and secure, and not noisy (apart from the bells, as indicated below). The staff were all friendly and helpful, the room was nicely appointed in a traditional style, and the interior garden was lovely. Also free wifi internet access. The hotel has no lift, but there are only two floors and the hotel staff moved our baggage. The bells go off loudly early in the morning - I didn't mind them, but my companion was less enthused. |

The staff were more than helpful, the location was perfect (near the train station but secluded), the breakfast was fabulous and the hotel itself interesting and unique. A wonderful refuge after a day of exploring Venice - loved it! They have a lovely garden, but there were mosquitoes so we had to leave. |

Staff was excellent and location. Breakfast was better than most. Pictures of rooms very deceiving. Pillows were hard and blankets had a smell. If leaving hotel in early morning, alternatives are very limited and costly. |

The wonderfully cheerful and helpful front desk staff were marvellous, and greatly added to our enjoyment of Venice. The hotel was extremely clean, comfortable and quiet (ignoring the nearby church bell which pealed occasionally, but not before 7am on weekdays, and later on the weekend). We liked everything. |
