Hotel Accademia  

Very noisy location within the university area. You hear the students screaming till 4 o' clock in the morning. Very small rooms, cheap furniture, extremely small bathroom.

The staff is very kind. Location right in the centre of Bologna.

A little bit expensive if you have your car to park in the centre

Very efficient, friendly and English-speaking receptionists. Someone was available readily to carry my very heavy case upstairs. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts were good.. Our interests are academic and artistic and the hotel was very centrally placed with easy access to all we wished to see..

The only draw-back was the very, very cheap pizza bar in the side road beside the hotel where the teenagers gathered eating pizzas and talking below our bedroom window until 2.00 a.m. BUT the double glazing was superb so we could shut out the noise!

All was good.

The fact that the staff were so friendly. The hotel was very close to the main shopping precinct via the university area which was very interesting.

The hotel was quite expensive and the room very basic which could be improved with a little decoration. However it was very clean with extremely comfortable beds and plenty of hot water which is all that you really need.

unless you like to be at the centre of Bologna University Nightlife, then probably not for you. It didnt bother us, but can see why it would others

Location was perfect for walking everyone we had planned to see. Several great restaurants near. Best of all was the wonderful, helpful staff.

Our room could have been a little cleaner, free of of dust and floor lint but beds, bathroom, etc. were all clean. Maybe she forgot to sweep?

Italian breakfast is not my favourite

Windows had to be opened because it was really hot and it was very noisy. Also they offered what they said was a better room but it did not have air conditioning and they did not mention. My origin room reserve did have air conditioning and it was very hot and humid during my stay.

A delightful little hotel that was perfectly located for exploring Bologna! You never quite know what area to plump for when you visit somewhere for the first time and I think we lucked out with Hotel Accademia. Having seen the whole city I believe it was probably the best spot for what we wanted on our long weekend away as a pair of 30-something girls looking for a cultural break with nice food and drink experiences in the evening (bearing in mind we couldn’t afford the astronomical prices of the actual centre). Ultimately, from the hotel you are a 10 min walk from the towers and Piazza Maggiore which are both in the heart of the city. In addition, if you want to experience some nice Italian bars you are perfectly placed for Zabano Street which is one of the liveliest areas, probably because it is very near the university (but don’t let that put you off as they were not typical studenty bars as you might expect in this area). The hotel breakfast is very good and typical of Italian hotels: there was a good selection of fruit, cereals, pastries, breads, ham and cheese. All was very fresh and served alongside fruit juice and good strong Italian coffee. Our room was basic, but clean with an en suite toilet and proper walk-in shower. All standard rooms face onto the main street, for a little extra I think you can have a room at the back of the hotel. The only disruption we found at the front was church bells which seemed to ring early most mornings, but I expect you may hear these from the upgraded rooms as well, although I’m not sure on this point. The hotel had free wifi which worked in the bedroom, but was quite slow. There were sofas near reception and the signal was stronger and quicker there. There was also a pc near reception that could be used for free for the internet.

Staff at Hotel Academia were ever so helpful and even went out of their way to help. One member of staff even drew up an itinerary for us! The location was also great - very centrally located and close to the main square. For the price you pay it really is terrrific value - couldn't find any fault! Breakfast was very good also and the coffee was one of the best I've had in Italy!

This is a really nice hotel, our room was spacious and the breakfast was good. We chose this hotel as we wanted to explore the oldest university in the world so it is very well placed for this, and it's not far from the famous towers either.
