These high quality accommodations are in charming and historic waterside farmhouse, close to Syracuse and Noto.

It is in a peaceful, rural area, on private grounds and with parking available. Guest lounge, sun lounge and a patio are all offered. The hotel is in a superb location for hiking and bird watching.

The farmhouse Masseria sul Mare is not far from the Marchesa beach, famous for its beautiful golden sand.

Its position between Syracuse and Noto, on the nature reserve of the Cassibile river, which flows down from the Iblei mountains, through the protected archeological zone and into the sea, makes it particularly attractive.

Also within short driving distance are Catania, Mount Etna and its fascinating villages and Taormina. Further afield, but well worth the trip are Agrigento and Piazza Armerina.

From the house there is a beautiful view of the vast sea front and the beach, which is enclosed by a rocky coastline.

The original house dates from the beginning of the 1900's and consists of two parallel buildings with a courtyard in the center, open at both ends so as to let in the light and emphasize the pretty white stone which is so typical of the region. The house has been wonderfully restored and renovated.

This sunny place is surrounded by acres of cultivated farmland.

Food & beverage

The menu at the Masseria sul Mare represents the Sicilian region, where traditional farming and cattle breeding are still very much part of the landscape, and guarantee genuine local products like pasta, cheese and wine which perfectly reflect the Sicilian culinary tradition.

Room information

Double bedrooms with private bathrooms with or without windows onto the main courtyard, and nice cottages in the old peasant’s dwellings located around the fields.

Room with window suitable for wheelchair users.

All the rooms have been furnished in a simple but comfortable way, a special touch is added by the stone walls which create a warm atmosphere.

Area information

Etna is undisputed king of the area, and hiking on its slopes is an unforgettable experience at any time of year. In the winter and spring, ski touring (the ski-lift system has been destroyed by the last two eruptions) is a challenge.

Some of the best beaches in Sicily are to be found south of Siracusa at the Vendicari nature reserve and around the point on the south coast, while the area around Portopalo di Capo Passero and Pachino is one of the largest areas for production of cherry tomatoes.

Inland, the Hyblean mountains provide a spectacle of rugged beauty with low stone walls and steep gorges such as those at the Cavagrande del Cassibile and Pantalica.

North of Catania, the traditional resort towns of Acireale, Acicastello and Acitrezza have long been a magnet for local day trips and offer arguably the best granita to be found anywhere.

The spectacular mosaics at the Roman Villa del Casale at Piazza Armerina and the valley of the temples at Agrigento are world class monuments, and Taormina draws more visitors than any other town in Sicily.

Anonymous Young couple Italy May 25, 2011	L'agriturismo è si trova in un posto splendido: a due passi dal mare, immerso in una bellissima e curata campagna siciliana. E' possibile raggiungere una spiaggia di sabbia finissima, attraversando una breve strada interpoderale, oppure è possibile andare sulla scogliera e tuffarsi da lì. La colazione è a buffet, oltre ai classici caffè, latte, biscotti e fette biscottate, è possibile assaggiare torte e crostate fatte in casa. Non ci sono particolari aspetti negativi...ma, se proprio devo essere critica, posso solo dire che le camere sono piccoline e un pò spartane.
